Secret S/a/nta - Deadline Time

Hi everyone! The deadline is at the end of today (11:59pm PST)!
I know I said last thread it would be when the thread dies,
but we don't want the thread to be alive a long time, which will delay matching!

So, **THE DEADLINE TO ENTER IS 11:59 PM PST**

Here are some notices as always since they still apply:

**NOTICE 1 - Tell us you want to send cards nationally if you specifically want that!

**NOTICE 2 - Please follow the copy/paste format! This is important!

**NOTICE 3 - The 100+ bracket (USD) is whitelisted! You may only participate if you have before!
This means that you may send any combination/number of gifts below 100, but cannot do any 100+ brackets!

**NOTICE 4 - If you haven't been answered in a little while, I'll take care of it soon!
I'm just very tired a lot and little girls need to sleep. Also santafaggot answers them currently
because he is giving me a break.

**NOTICE 5 - If you need to make changes to your wishlist or address, or anything else:
please RE-SEND the application with the changes made as a reply!
This means send the whole application! It's the same process as last year!
Let me know too what changes were made.

E-mail - [email protected]
Next two posts will be the FAQ and Application guide!

And last but not least a short FAQ as always!
FAQ:
>Q: What is Secret S/a/nta?
A chance to give and receive gifts from other Sup Forumsnons locally, nationally, or even globally with a bit of X-mas spirit!
>Q: Who is hosting this event?
Your friendly hosts are santafaggot and SantaLoli. We are the same people who ran it last year!
>Q: How do I join?
You'll need to fill out the form as specific as possible when it's posted, sending it as an e-mail to us!
>Q: Deadline to join?
OCTOBER 26TH 12:00 AM PACIFIC STANDARD TIME!!! Why? Because we need to match which takes to at maximum 1 week, and then every user needs to
buy gifts, make cards and whatever else in order to ensure everything arrives on time!
>Q: Why should I trust this?
It's up to you! In the past we have had multiple successful Secret S/a/nta events hosted by us the past few years.
The average on people not receiving gifts is very very low. We even have the grinch protection program which lets
people send gifts to those who didn't receive anything at all, even after X-mas!
>Q: Can I give you guys stuff?
It's a possibility we might accept some stuff like cards, just tell us you want to send something to us, but no guarantees!
Santa Loli will likely try to send out cookies (no card) this year to a lot of people randomly!

>I ALREADY JOINED, HOW DO I FIX SOMETHING?
A: If you need to make changes to your wishlist or address, or anything else:
please RE-SEND the application with the changes made as a reply!
This means send the whole application! It's the same process as last year!
Let me know too what changes were made.

>OH NO I NEED TO CHANGE SOMETHING AND IT'S PASSED DEADLINE
A: Let us know the changes that need to be made, you won't be blacklisted.
If you need to drop, please let us know right away.

will santa gib me da succ?

Reminder:
If you need to change anything, please make it clear that your email is about a change, and what is being changed.
I'm going through the email as I type this, so if you have any concerns, they should be dealt with in the next hour or two.

Can i just leave my initials for my name?

Signed up for the first time. Just one card, to test the water.

Its not about whether or not you recieve anything back, its about making your user's Christmas just a little less lonely. Especially with cards, its not like you're spending money to get nothing back.

You say that, but the slow realization that your santa didn't bother still hurts.

It's whatever you want to be written on the envelope. Depending on where you live, you may need an accurate name to receive mail. First name last initial should be fine if you're worried.

I recommend doing a few cards at least, historically I've had a relatively poor return rate.

I feel like I wanna alter my list, but at the same time, I feel like it should be fine.

Also, I wish it was November already. Wanna start working on my gifts asap. I'm so excited.

same here bud. I'm pretty stoked to see what other anons like.

> Sending my third email, first two haven't been replied to
> Not sure if I want to move up a bracket

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck

You get blacklisted?

It's my first secret santa so I'm pretty sure that's unlikely.

Sweet, I got my confirmation. Also fucking jewroshima and his fucking malware ads.

>He doesn't use uBlock and Noscript
pic related.

Email should be clean.

AA from CA, check your spam filter or something, I've replied to you three times now.

I'm on my damn phone since I just got out. At home it's no problem. Today I packed something that's probably going to one of you faggots at work

Can you post that graph with the nationalities again?

>All those weeks of saving
>Finally have $300 saved for my $100-150 bracket gift
I actually can't believe I did it, I'm so excited to get my user's wishlist.

This is getting interesting.

I hope my assignment likes imported chocolate.

I really fucking hope you are my Secret Santa!

I've sort of been wanting to split my wishlist according to my bracket so I can put down a few things that would lean towards a more-expensive category in the higher one, but I haven't really felt like it. It's pretty general as is, but if I updated it and left it as just one people in 10-25 would be seeing me asking for hundred dollar figures like a giant asshole.

So many amazon lackeys in these threads.

I'm excited to be baking cookies for my assignments.

SantaLoli, will you be posting your P.O. Box on the next thread or will it be via email request only?

fuck, I wish I was decent at cooking. Or baking for that matter.

Santa Loli, will you be my waifu?

How do I even send a package anyway?

...

you cant send packages anymore, you have to deliver it yourself

you have to get a carrier pigeon

Ah I guess it does add to the experience of delivering a dragon dildo to an user's house in person

in the US? USPS First Class (if you send it early), Priority (if you send it late)

Put a shitton of stamps on a box, then leave it under your mailbox.

>tfw sent mine in weeks ago
finally the ball is rolling and i get a partner

So fucking excited to get my wishlist and card assignments, been working like a mad dog and I'm about to make it rain.
It's not even Halloween yet.

What if I don't have a mailbox?

Not from the US

leave it under your neighbors

is it my dragon dildo

I realized I messed up the format, but I sent santa the updated version.

Hopefully I caught it before they matched me.

None of the people here have mailboxes

Throw it really, really hard.

thanks again for being patient to literal retards like myself

Baking is ez pz. It's literally measuring ingredients, mixing them and then heating them. Cookies are so easy I make them high all the time and they end up tasting just great even when I sober up. Just try it user. Chocolate chip cookies are pretty darn easy and the recipe on the back of the Nestle chocolate chips is super easy to make.

pic related is what I'm making.

Same, seeing user post about my cookies gives me a special feeling.

I have a difficult time making straight icebox cookies.

Where there's a will there's a way. Find someone who does.

Just do a search and your country for instructions. If you're sending international, you'll probably have to fill out some customs forms. It's pretty easy. Most important thing is not to wait. Send first week of December if you're mailing international.

I'm at the post office quite a bit, and there's always people young and old who have no idea how to address a letter or just bring in a box and request to send it the cheapest way.

Participated twice, grinched twice.

Third time's the charm, right guys?

Don't worry user. If you put plenty of love into it, they'd surely be delicious.

Is this the Hungarian user?

I'm serving as a member of the anti-grinch squad this year since my last two worked out nicely (minus a card or two).
Hopefully it shouldn't be a problem for you this time around user.

Nope, US-based. Last time I participated was 3 years ago.

Hopefully we get our assignments as early as possible, I'm having some stuff custom made this year and I want as much room as possible.

It's sad when it happens, I'm not gonna lie. However, seeing people open my shit in unboxing threads is the best feeling ever. I'm glad I've got the cash to do it again this year.

Same. I want to test out the tools I've got with plenty of time left if something goes wrong.

Please be aware that practice is American, and in most countries this would just be abandoning a box outside for someone to steal.

Is there something special I should put on my wishlist before I send the email? Anything important?

Whatever is special or important to you. It's a wishlist, you can put quite literally whatever you want.

Just wanted to stop in and say that after getting grinched for 3 years until finally getting a present for last year's /ss/ three months late, only to get a half-assed collection of random not even anime knickknacks thrown together (and in the $100+ bracket, no less) I am comprehensively disillusioned with participating in /ss/ and unfortunately will not be doing so again.

I'm truly glad my giftees enjoyed my gifts over the years and I give all my blessings to everyone, especially the organizers, in joining together to bring a little happiness to another user somewhere in the world.

However, I'm too emotionally burnt out to do it again. I hope for this post to be a warning to those who would think about skipping out on giving a gift, and also to those who think they can skimp out with a token gift to avoid the blacklist, just to get a nice box of free swag in return. Some user out there may be preparing a fantastic (and very expensive) box of goodies for their giftee, not knowing they will get nothing in return. Don't ruin that user's Christmas, a post thanking you for your great gift is worth more than any gift you can send.

To those who are afraid to participate for these same reasons, don't be. Believe in your fellow anons and do everything you can to get the perfect gift for them. Another user will truly appreciate it and will work to do the same. Don't let another user become like me, if not a nice gift of your own you can at least count on a gracious post here.

Alright, back in the game this year. I hope the blonde tripfag finally left.

He will be back after november, and you know it.

I signed up, but in all honestly I'm not that knowledgeable so I'll probably need to get help from friends in picking out gifts
At the very least whoever gets matched with me can look forward to an abundance of edibles in addition to their gift(s)

check the buyfag threads, they are the best place for that stuff

Has Santa Admins ever thought of putting up one of those anonymous maps like pic related to let anons see that there's people in their area?

yes reddit does this for their ss
this actually might be a bad idea for the super shy anons

As an user who has received a gift for each of the 3 years that I signed up, I feel bad for people getting grinched.

There was a zeemaps in the first few /ss/ that people tagged themselves and got a few meetups happening.

OP, sorry if this has been asked before, but do you match people with similar interests, or is it totally random? I'd imagine it would be a lot of work to match people who like similar stuff, but it would be easier to buy for someone who likes the same kinda stuff I do.

I plan to include edibles and at least a home made card (no matter how shitty). I signed up for the $25-50 dollar bracket but I have nobody to shop for this Christmas (besides bro and parents) so I might end up sending more.

If you're serious, USPS is the easiest. Take your stuff, then drive to a local USPS office. Inside are free boxes that will be white and red (regular) or white and blue (priority). Find the smallest box that fits everything and seal it. Remember to bring tape to make it extra secure and a pen to write the addresses on it. Then you can either use the computer to print a shipping label, pay for shipping (usually $10-15 depending on weight and size) and mail it. Alternatively, you pack the box and stand in line and hand it to the guy at the counter. They take debit and credit cards, and make sure you have lots of time, the post office has very long lines usually.

Additionally, they will ask you if there's any banned material inside. Remember you can't send flammable liquids (perfumes, gasoline, stuff like that), drugs, ammunition, cigarettes, and many other things. Just don't be nervous and you'll be fine.

I want this because I live in a big US city that more than likely has a few anons in it.

Tfw grinched 2/4 of the times I participated.
Looks like I'm taking the whitelist brackets this year, though with my luck I expect some cunt to still grinch me.

I met one of the anons in my city off of one of the ZeeMaps things, but we only ended up hanging out once at a restaurant and I feel like I was too autistic or something because I never heard from him again.

Actually I've sent perfumes before, but it was via UPS not USPS. And it had to be packaged correctly.

Maybe I'll deliver 280lbs of pure friendship straight to your door.

I'll make you X-mas waffles/pancakes with the rest of my roommates and some Mexican hot chocolate if it's a particularly cold day.

>first time doing it
>applied for the 75-100 bracket because I have some spare cash
>now worrying that I'll get the wrong quality of stuff

What would you rather receive, one large gift that takes up like 80-90 percent of the budget and one or two small bonus items or having the budget more spread out so you get a bunch of small to medium items?

This is a bad idea since it doesn't give the consent of the participants.

Alternatively, you could MAKE a Zeemaps for the /ss/ threads and whoever wants to use it could post contact information since no one would be dumb enough to put their exact address on a non-private map on an anonymous imageboard. Though Sup Forums has had a few of these before and they get stopped by mods after a while and seemed pretty ineffectual because even after having put down their information, no one would willingly visit other anons for fear of seeming autistic.

So, two and a half hours left huh? Guess I'd better get off my butt and get my application done.

I love chocolate.

>tfw qualify for high brackets but have too many car repairs to deal with to sign up for them again

Feels bad but I can make cards and cookies at least.

>put hitagi down as waifu last year
>get matched with nadekofag
>grinched

Alright everyone. I have to go to bed for work tomorrow morning, so if you haven't heard anything, don't worry. I'll be taking care of the email tomorrow.
If you have wishlist updates, please send them sooner, rather than later.
Please send all price bracket/card amount/shipping preferences changes BEFORE the cutoff (3 1/2 hours or so from now). Cutoffs will be enforced. Stop procrastinating.

>do you match people with similar interests, or is it totally random?
I make an attempt to match people who have similar tastes for gifts, but there are like 500 people so sometimes it isn't possible, but I try to match people who have at least one show/character shared so you have some common ground. Cards is waaaaay too far out of scale for me to do much about it.

You aren't receiving gifts from the same person you're sending them to dumbass. You would never know which girl your sender likes unless they explicitly said so in their card/gift.

It depends which price bracket I'm in
Extremely low or high ones I would rather have a bunch of little stuff. Just a single cheap nendo or an expensive 1:1 scale figure are nice but not that interesting to receive on either end of the spectrum, and it's better if I get a whole bunch of little tiny things or like an entire collection of nendos/scale figs.

However, right around 50-100 is a good price for decent stuff like high-quality scale figures, a collection of manga or BDs, that sort of thing. In your price bracket I would go all-out on a nice thing

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how is previous participation for the 100+ whitelist verified? I'm a returning participant who has signed up under lower brackets in the past under the same name, but have undergone a few address changes (my address this year is the same as last year's though). I just wanted to make sure I was okay before sending in my application.

I mean to say that a nadekofag got me as their match.
and grinched me

Okay, so you're just retarded and don't understand the previous post.

What if someone put down like 40something shows of varying types and a few mangos?

Great! I'll bring my Scrabble board maple syrup. Maybe some homemade bierocks, too.

It depends on how confident you feel about this gift. If you think the Sup Forumsnon is going to love the top-tier shit, get the one top-tier item. If you're less confident in your options, hedge your bets with a diversified portfolio. One year I dropped the budget on a Nyanko plush, the next year I split it up between an animu, a Nichijou umbrella, and some Miku figmas.

The point is the nadekofag you sent something to is not the same person as the one who grinched you.

It goes A->B->C->A, not AB

Congrats, you're a universal donor.

>encouraging meet up shit.
It's a bad idea.

He already did an untasty post about him joining and something about hentai and stuff

They don't actually have a whitelist, it is just to make not panic with grinch hysteria this year

For the 75+ tiers, I would prefer 1 big gift with a couple small things.

Where do you live? I-I wouldn't mind hanging out with an user for christmas.
Also, you do scarves in exchange for other handmade things, right? Would a bottle of homemade booze be up your alley?

>ywn have an user over for dinner
>ywn cook for user the morning after as well
Just kill me now.

I would say that in general, one large item that takes up most of the value of the gift has more impact than a bunch of small items that as a whole fill up the price bracket.

Works for me.

Just a reminder, we don't really condone any sort of meetups/organizations of that kind, we simply host the event.
Please don't turn secret s/a/nta threads into any sort of meetup ordeal, the mods have given us the grace of being
able to do this yearly as tradition. We'll gladly provide anyone with e-mails to each other provided the person being
gifted or has received a gift from someone consents to it.

That's enough for the application!
Yes, we do.

Well, thanks to my pathological procrastination and neurotic anxiety over completing any task that could fuck things up, no matter how unimportant, if done wrong, I finally stopped editing my wishlist draft and sent it in. Less than three hours before the deadline. I hope santaloli doesn't have a list for pieces of shit who submit their applications on the last day where they're matched up with assholes that barely escaped the blacklist for undergifting or being late, but if that did happen I would deserve it.
