The "love triangle" with the MC and baseball-kun doesn't seem like it'll be anything like the mangafags played it up as, but does the dialog get any less clumsy? I picked this up because I heard the author's writing improved a lot since the melodramatic mess that was H&C, but the way the dialog and scenes are structured in 3-Gatsu is really messy.

Will present Ayumu show up in the manga eventually? Will he resent Rei even more than Kyoko?

It's just a comfy and feelsy manga about Rei and the people around him. Don't judge it based on labels you read on MAL.

The romance isn't a problem, like you said, they aren't even remotely interested in each other romantically at this point so there's no conflict. They're each doing their own thing.

Those are perfect. One strenght manga have regarding comedy is that they can execute entire jokes within one panel without giving it the same relevance as the serious parts. And sadly it's thing that doesn't translate well in anime.
