Solid 9 in my books.

Flawed as a time travel anime, doesn't know how to use it's cast and ignores it's own message.
Still fun.

It was fun until it went full shounen save the female by going through a harem on us.

I loved watching it because I love anything that involves time travel. Other than that, I wouldn't say it was anything special. The characters other than the main two are pretty one-dimensional and the plot doesn't really go anywhere unexpected. I still enjoyed it while I was watching it, though.

I think it's rather fantastic. The characters are all memorable and the story is great. Good art style, great music and it was enjoyable enough for me to watch the entire season in one day.
Is it overrated on MAL? Maybe, I don't know (if it is, it certainly is not as overrated as Hunter x Hunter (2011) at least). It does have its issues like that one date scene, which was cute but felt out of place, and there was that one shock value moment, for the most part it does what it has to right.

Definitely looking forward to Steins;Gate 0, I hope it can be as good, if not better.

The show message was don't fuck with time travel but in the end he rips off back to the future and saves Kirisu with time travel.

Certain chains of events must occur within worldlines and attractor fields. Taking a broader view, 1.048596 couldn't exist without the motivation provided by Mayuri, Kurisu and Zerorin.

The midpart should have been cut altogether, as the plot involves resetting a good bunch of episodes.
It also has some inconsistency in time travel, so resurrecting a MC is involved it necessitates a convoluted procedure to drag it out for ages, while the life of a random guy is easy as pie.
Ending is just usual time travel bullshit, layering 2/3 effects together to bait people who like shows just because it has plot twists.

Okarin was an autistic faggot who, in a more realistic world, everybody would get sick of after 5 seconds of his annoying antics, which makes it all the more confusing why he has a harem of girls surrounding him. I could understand Daru wanting to hang around with him though, given that he's just as annoying as Okarin, the only difference being that Daru isn't an asshole but instead just spews memes like a newfag trying to show off his meme knowledge. Kurisu is nothing more than tsundere retard calling everyone a pervert and another meme spewer meant to pander to the lonely and pathetic otaku who buy figures. Not to mention her stupid as fuck design with belts wrapped around her arms to hold her jacket in place like she's some heroine junkie. Mayuri is a meme character, could not give a shit about her dying over and over again. Moeka is another awful unrealistic character who just spazzes out on her cell phone every time she wants to talk, who does that? Amane just ended up being waifubait for fat redditors who like to wear shirts with "forever alone" memes printed on them that could self insert as Daru. Because if a fat loser like Daru with absolutely no redeemable qualities beyond having knowledge of 2ch memes could nail a 10/10 like her, surely they could too?

Ruka might be the only S;G character that's actually interesting given the situation she's in and the opportunities afforded to her. This is the only character I really felt bad for throughout the show because she had actual depth to her character, despite having probably the least amount of screen time right next to fucking Faris. So I take back what I said, at least one character was likable.

God what a shitshow. Total waste of time. Makes me wish I could jump to an alternate timeline where this garbage was never adapted.

The plot is nonsense, they don't even implement the World Line Theory of time travel properly. Heavily contrived plot devices a lot of the time, ending is a cop out, harem elements still apparent (guess it would be hard to get rid of them entirely without annoying the fanbase this is supposed to pander to), half the cast is useless, movie didn't need to exist.

I enjoy the epic bantz between the characters because whoever was writing the dialogue is really good at their job, but the story itself is nonsense and most of the characters are tired tropes with no development.

You aren't. Most SciAdv are just SciAdv fans shitposting SciAdv for fun. The fact is that SciAdv in general is very well done as a series, and S;G is well written with more care than your average series even if it is overrated.

I feel like it explained itself well enough the justify the stuff going on in-universe and keep the suspension of disbelief. I'm sure if there are flaws here and there, but they weren't immediately apparent to a layman like myself.

i really enjoyed it. thought the ending was getting really convoluted and dumb, but the twists ironed it out really nicely. solid 9.

I was really annoyed how they had a perfectly good ending, then went "lol jk, we're going to have a do-over!". IMO, the show was one episode too long.
