Hey pol, how does it feel knowing that 186 House Republicans helped pass a bill that was written and sponsored by a Republican (John Mica - FL), that will create mass inflation as well as hurt our economy bigly?
I present to you, the “Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act”, which takes effect December 18th, 2017. This bill will destroy the trucking industry, which carries roughly 60-70% of all goods produced in the U.S.. It also infringes on our 5th amendment right by automatically having your small crime reported to authorities.
Sadly, despite knowing about the implications, Trump has not done anything to stop or slow he implementation of this bill.

As a professional in the Trucking industry I will give a very real example.
We have a lane that runs between two states. The drivers that run this particular lane live in the trucks during the week. These guys are capable of doing 4-5 rounds between the states. They choose to be away from their families in line in a truck because the pay is good. After this law takes effect, the drivers will only be able to do 2 rounds. These guys only do this job because the wages are actually not that bad, now they will be cut in half.
We will also have to charge the mills that produce the goods we carry nearly double the rates, this cost will be shared with every part of the production process until the final product is produced. The consumer will pay a heavily increased price.
The increase will happen to groceries, gas...... everything.
Trucking will no longer be a viable job for many. Truckers will quit their careers for seek other avenues for income. This will create job shortages and will mean that there will be an increase in inexperienced truck drivers sharing the roads with us.
Our economy will take a large hit within the next year, I assume within the next couple months.

If a driver is held up at a mill for 4 hours it will count against him even if he’s resting.
If a driver is 20 minutes from the destination, he won’t be able to squeeze another 20 minutes. This puts the load and driver behind 8-14 hours, maybe more.

You system sucks then. I've helped build a system and we made it able to tell when a driver is in line at the mill to not count it against him. In any case, the issue is with the laws on hours, not on establishing a sane system of tolls instead of the mess there is now.
