It is easier if you actually are from Syria or Somalia because then you only have to make up some false story about your trauma and that's the real problem. The problem is not determining if someone actually is from this or that country, but determining if they are actually personally persecuted, or if they just make that up. If I make a claim that I am persecuted by my own government, then there is no way for anyone to disprove that because in either case my government will deny it and possibly fabricate proof against me. That's how you end up with 10 million "political refugees" in Europe.
