What is preventing us from rapidly colonizing useful planets around the solar system pol? Earth does not have enough rare elements to sustain us forever.

Niggers

You start depopulation process and live happily ever after

Economic viability - until the price of rare elements extracted on Earf exceeds the cost of mining out space rocks, there is no economic incentive to do it

will challenge your comment on the sustainability of rare elements. I dont think its founded, as far as i can work out no company is complaining about the lack of them, if they are, I an sure it would be easier to identify and mine these minerals on earth instead of random floating rocks.

With that said, par 2 tells me that if these rare minerals are running out. it will be cheaper to maek synthetic replacements than start mining mars.

which leaves me to my final point, establishing a permanent colony on another celestrial body would be awesome, except look at Africa. If we cant get it right on Earth, why should we try and do it on mars?

Lack of will.
Economics.
Lack of high travel speed.

Due to any political lack of will, there is no serious research moneys going into solving the various new problems that living on Mars or the Moon or hell, Mercury would involve. There is just the tiniest of moneys put into it, so it would take a few centuries to just come up with basic techs that might apply. Example: It took almost 40 years for humanity to discover that microwaving the Moon's regolith makes it form into a hard, rocklike substance similar to concrete. This is naturally called "Mooncrete".

Economics: Lifting anything out of the Earth's deep gravity well costs mucho bucks. And humans have so many additional requirements (food, water, oxy) over robotics. Without a very good closed system recycling technology, this is an extremely expensive overhead.

Lack of high speed travel: This is one of the biggies. Travelling to the moon and back is possible because it can be done "between" solar storms. But anywhere else in the solar system, and it is going to take 6 months just to get to Mars, and much longer to get anywhere else. So what some might say. Well, in that time, there is a good chance of a solar storm. Without Earth's protection, any space traveler caught in a solar storm can become so irradiated, that they die. Making adequate shielding that will allow humans to survive adds greatly to the expense of building the travel vehicle, and to moving the travel vehicle (because of all the added mass).

With faster propulsion technologies, like Vasimr, we can get around much quicker. But that still leaves the other problems. There are solutions lurking out there, but until we can discover and implement them, we are pretty much stuck to Earth and its Moon at most.

we are using spare money to multiply inferiors through welfare instead of advancing our civilization...

space jews and their jewish gravity

>What is preventing us
You should ask (((who))).

why dont we just get rid of the useless races like niggers and spics and arabs then just live comfortably here on earth?

>US military budget, ~700 billion
>US welfare, ~1 trillion
>US research, ~30 billion

Gee, I wonder what's preventing it...

Why dont you try to step on the moon first

The fact that we're afraid to die and the technology isn't here for it to be viable yet.

No one is legally allowed to own any land in space nor are they allowed to bring weapons into space.

There's no real reason to spend all your time building a mining colony on the moon when once you get it going well the international community can demand anything and you have no legal rights to it

Good point refugees to the moon.. i like it!

But it'd be like our countries not Africa there's no savages living on mars.

We need to develop a way to make anti-mater cheaper and easier to produce.

Why not read it from the words of the meme-est philosopher himself:

themigrationperiod.files.wordpress.com/2016/05/nicklandlureofvoid.pdf

We have already

The Jews are holding us back. We are their slaves. We're not allowed to leave. We will work till we die and they will reap the benefits.

no planets are as useful as the most useless parts of earth

This. The biggest hurdle as you said is getting to the planet in the first. With current technology if a perfectly healthy person were to travel to mars their body would be swimming with cancer cells by the time they got to mars. Try building a new civilization on a hostile planet while cancer kills you

>Rapidly
Costs and currently non-existing engineering solutions that lead to no economic viability.

>Costs
The price to launch a kilogram of payload mass before the 2010s was about $22k, or about $10k per pound. While the advent of SpaceX has been increasing competition and decreased prices from either their new products or ULA and Arianespace's cost reduction measures of old launch vehicle architectures, the cost right now is still about $6k to $12k per kilo respectively. Divide by 2.2 for lb's.
There are even more exciting developments like Skylon, which straight up suggests a per kg to launch at ~$1000, and less after complete amortisation.

But you still have problems;
>Engineering solutions
It's hard and expensive to make enough rockets to do the sorts of things you want to do. SpaceX is ratcheting up fast, but they still only launched 16 this year so far. In 2016, there were, worldwide, 81 successful launches altogether.

Then you have missing engineering solutions to, say;
>Finding a mineral rich body or strata
>Retrieving the minerals
>Processing them
>Moving them (and if an asteroid, this means the entire asteroid) to Earth or close to it.
And a thousand other things.

All of this is risks that big sources of investment don't want to engage with - not on the timescales of decades that are involved when you talk about returns on investment. Especially when there is no clear source of income or production; you paid to colonise the moon, but how what financial returns does that give you? All revenue streams are more or less existential and circumstantial.

Chinese and Russians have brought weapons into space, openly.

Russians mounted 50 caliber machine guns on their space stations because they were so paranoid that the US might invade their space stations and take them over.

Chinese put high powered rifles into every capsule because their recovery area is bear country, and they want their space voyagers able to kill a bear while they are waiting on pick up.

fpbp literally the reason

NASA has seriously proposed using people who are 50+ in age, because they'd die natural deaths anyways before the space caused radiation could get them.

Also, if the astronauts START with all the problems that long term exposure to micro-gravity gives, NASA feels that the space voyagers health shouldn't deteriorate much more.

Interstellar Radiation
Atmospheric Protection
Transport Costs
Insufficient Interest
Suicide Missions

Right on many levels going to space isn't going to magicaly solve racial tension, if they take the cause for racial tension with them.
Why do you think they don't have black folk on the ISS?

Nobody can bring WMDs into space. Regular weapons are fair play.
The only flat ban on all weapons is on the Moon.

We just need to build some O'Neill cylinders. Then we can fight a war with the spacenoids.

Because many of the available slots are being filled by Russia and ESA.

America has sent up several black astronauts to the ISS though. Although I cannot recall any black astronauts going up via the Russian taxi service. Are you suggesting Russia is refusing to let an American black astronaut on board their rockets for fear of him nig noggin on them?

Overpopulation. EVERYONE MUST KNOW THIS

No. All weapons are banned. But no one can enforce the band.

If China wants to mount a dozen nuclear missiles on a Chinese launch platform, there isn't anything anyone else can do to stop it, except shoot it down and risk a war, because destroying another country's satellite is certainly an act of war.

Left wing politics.

Just think of all the money that went into useless crap like immigration and paying those immigrants their blood money. It could have all gone to science.

Radiation.

you cant just build greenhouses in space, you die from radiation, so do all your plants.

extraterrestrial humans are doomed to live deep underground on whatever planets/moons they colonise.

Jews.

Plus there are no useful planets.

brety neato desu, but what if someone poky a hole in wall

Mars is useful. But its too far away with basic rocket technology.

On Mars, there's places down far enough that actually get earth tolerant pressures. They are down in the deepest canyon known to Man, but they exist. The extra surrounding land helps shield those deep sites from solar radiation as well, so it could be a good spot for habitation.

The Moon would be a good spot, just for harvesting He3 and using the far side for radio astronomy.

Some sort of other sentient presence. They told us not to come back to the moon, of course now we work with them.. Or probably for them. I don't know exactly what they are, but they have many bases on and in the moon as well as on earth.

rich fucks who don't give a god damn what happens after they die, they just need to make sure to get the high score in their bank account despite having more money than they could ever physically spend

We will eventually go underground on earth too. There is a reason all these break away civilization have to go underground or offworld.

>tfw they are just nazis on the dark side of the moon

>Earf

Didn't know Sup Forums had a Pidgin app.

>What is preventing us from rapidly colonizing useful planets around the solar system
jews, and niggers. Enough welfare money has gone out in the last 20 years to fund a trip to alpha centauri, the solar system could have been colonized by the 60's ffs

You can't avoid politics, no matter how big your dream is.

Get 3 humans together, and you get politics. Fun fun.

Diversity.

if one is black you get rope. fun fun.
