Let's all love Lain.

Fuck Lain. Goddamn I hated that show.

Don't mind if I do

I would do everything just for making her smile

not enough fast moving colors and shiney boobies to hold your attention?

Fuck off

>one of the worst anime of all time
No

W-what's happening here?

...

Present Day?

Present time.

>*braaaaarp*

ahahaahha

I liked the first half much more than the second half. The set up, the intrigue, the style, it was all a shit ton more interesting than learning that lain is omnipotent god child all along.

The more it explained, the less interesting it became.

I agree, but I really liked the episode that focused on Lain's sister. It came across as more terrifying and tragic, seeing a normal person getting caught up in the world they couldn't understand.

Does whacking my willy count as a show of love?

That was ep 5 or 6, right? That was definitely one of the highlights of the whole show.

fuck haruhi ! she is the only god i know

My favorite was episode 10 or 11, when Lain discovers that her "family" has left and her "dad" says goodbye

Present Time! Ahahahaha!

Yeah, episode 5.

The idea of watching your doppelganger take your place while no one can hear you scream is pretty traumatic.

Episode 2 or 3 is the best one.
The one where they introduce Wired-Lain by having her go to the club and Alice dragging Lain there and the guy who is fucked out of his mind starting to shoot people.

Except for the shooting people it really feels so much like an actual club, which is something you don't really see in media in general.

You're right, though.

Would I be a cuck if I got a tasteful Lain tattoo?

define tasteful

Small, thin-lined concept drawing of Lain. No shading, somewhere semi-hidden on my body. I don't have any tattoos but have always wanted a Lain tat.

...

It took me so long to realise this was Lain

Always thought it was from some chibi game

Higher quality version

Actually i never realised it was Lain

This pic is on the fan-art folder Neocities

folder on Faux*

Also thanks for the high res pic

...

Someone explain this scene to me.

...

The dialogue where she and the science man switched lines really sticks out in my mind.
ABe stories don't have a lot to them but the execution is just so stylish

...

For a series named 'Serial Experiments', it wasn't as experimental as it could have been. How people often blow it out of proportion, saying it's notoriously deep and incomprehensible mindfuck, etc. The plot also turns out to be as stupid as third rate sci-fi films. It's like they just made it up on the spot, while animating the show.

...

...

Explain why is it stupid.

good times

It's been so long since I watched it, but because of the bullshit I ARE GOD made up on the spot while they're making the show. They just wanted to make antagonists like the Knights, then suddenly Eiri. They connected it altogether just because. Then, oh, there is a loophole here, let's make Lain a lesbian schizo God because then it would explain why she hallucinated while it all seemed real.

The plot is like a bad speculation made by aspiring 'sci-fi' middle schooler writer.

...

I already do love Lain.

> connected it just because
She isn't just a god. She is a program that gets powerful as more and more people believes in the idea that the knights and lain cyberia are preaching, leading people to believe that she is a'god'. The idea is merely an idea if no one believes in it is a concept the show emphasied several timea in the show. I believe this is also the reason eriri created the homonculus Lain, as humans tend to buy into the idea more when there is a tangible vessle.
> she hallucinates
Again, she is a program that gets suddenly put into the world with little prior human interactions. She has a hard time undrstanding the actions of her friends, surroundings due to this and it wouldnt be a stretch to say that the hallucination is her having difficulty in seperating what is reality and what isnt(her blank stares are a good indicator).

>Then, oh, there is a loophole here, let's make Lain a lesbian schizo God because then it would explain why she hallucinated while it all seemed real.

She "hallucinates" things that are related to the Wired, so that it's made clear from the first episode that there's a thin line between it and the real world (at least for Lain). It's not like it came up out of nowhere.

Is everything his fault?

I want the turn of the millenium to come back ;_;

...

Let's all love Lain.

...

...

What fault? We love Lain.

What? Nah. Once upon a time, she was a living girl with a real family. The program that exists in the anime was encoded by the Lain in the PS1 game. After completing the upload, she no longer needed a body and killed herself. She became God of the Wired and gained the ability to step outside time and killed her councilor 3 days before she committed suicide. She was cucked by Eiri; part of her was placed in a human body he created so that he could assume her role as God. In episode 10, they switch perspectives and have a really interesting conversation with each other concerning those events. That scene makes a lot more sense if you've played the game and know about her past, before the anime. The show is about her returning to the Wired.

Meh, the show itself works as a self-contained entity. The game isnt necessarily a continuation or a precursor of the anime. Equally possible to view it as an alternate version and I prefer to keep it that way.

More like it was trash

As if loving Lain wasn't the natural state of humanity.

Can you tl;dr the plot of the game for me?

The Knights, the crazy group of super hackers, basically drew Mika into the Wired. Trapping her mind and reprogramming her head to get closer to Lain and either spy on her, or sabotage her equipment before she could interfere in the knight's plans.

The plan supposedly goes awry, and she's eventually left as an empty shell, as the true Mika remains trapped until Lain saves her by resetting everything.

Saved.

Why didn't you protect this smile?

AND YOU

DON'T SEEM

Maybe I should rewatch it already, it's been 4 years since I watched it.
Where did this time disappear to

Is it just fear of heights that makes suicide by falling down so disturbing?

Why is it called Serial Experiments by the way?

Checked these quads

>those quads

I guess it's a meta view of the subject, but each episode is about a different way of the world connecting to lain.

Because it's a series.

Personally I think it's the time between when you do it and you die. You have just enough time to realize that you totally fucked up, but can't do anything about it but think for a brief few moments.

...

A solid 30% of the show was reused footage, they intentionally made the story completely unintelligible until the last two episodes, the story itself was bargain bin sci-fi with shitty characters, and every artistic decision was little more than avant-garde "let's do it because we can" bullshit that was completely nauseating.

Lain is the worst anime I've ever finished. I regret every second I wasted on that trash.

watch Texhnolyze then :^)

kill yourself

TO UNDERSTAND

Lain being good is a meme and you fell for it. These kinds of shows are only good if you're popping pills regularly.

A SHAME
