What is the japanese context for the day drinking older sister?
I don't know the name of the trope, but from time to time you see the these characters in anime: Female, college aged (or a bit older even) and most often in a position of relative authority over the protagonists, usually the big sister.
They are show drinking during all times of the day and often in large quantities without these things being addressed as more than a joke.
I as a westerner can't really parse them, any help on this?

I haven't seen much drinking, especially heavy drinking, in Anime outside of 'Colleagues drinking', 'drunk big Sister' and maybe 'crazy old man drinking'.
Well, fair point, the drunk big Sister is usually more feminine than the other characters, with big breasts and wider hips.

It's a monthly series and the anime adapted the entirety of the 4 year old manga.
