I'm not saying we should pretend getting an STD isn't a bad thing, but being a little more accepting and understanding towards the people who do get them is arguably a positive influence and not as ridiculous as you're making it out to be. The stigma of having an STD is usually much more overwhelming for people than the symptoms of the disease itself. (Exceptions obviously apply). Helping people accept a really hard situation like this so they can move on with their lives would be a legitimate kindness. The benefit for society as a whole would be that it could help people to be more open about having STD's, which is absolutely essential to helping reduce the spread of STD's.

It seems like smoking weed (and doing harder drugs) is a normal part of live today. Even a few of my proffesors talk about smoking pot like it's something natural that people do on their saturday evenings even though it's still illegal in germany.
