Why do people dislike this fight? Maybe it has to do with me marathoning it rather than waiting for releases, but I thought it was hype as fuck all the way through.

The fight itself was great.

I can see people disliking the tea party, though. Also, it's kind of an anti-climax when Yujiro wins the fight but gives the title of Strongest Creature to Baki. And by anti-climax, I mean in regards to the entire series.

I thought it was a reasonable outcome given that they made a point Baki wasn't fighting for revenge or anything, and how outclassed he was from the start.

Baki won in a spiritual/mental sense but everyone elevates him as the strongest even thou there are many people who can beat his ass.

>even thou there are many people who can beat his ass
Like fucking who? He lost to Pickle, but it was only because he basically abandoned victory in favor of testing raw strength against Pickle for the hell of it. The only other guy who's even worth mentioning at that point in the series would be Kaku.

Nevermind that Kaku admitted he'd play dead if he had to fight Pickle.

Only in Baki is an old man playing dead a metric for power level

memetobe

He hadn't completed his magic training at that point.

Got bored of the series before I got to it. Series started out fun but all the massive focus on POWER OF IMAGINATION was lame and a lot of the build up for Yujiro leading up to this fight got a little too kooky for me. The inherant shittyness of the Wild Fang scans didn't help either I guess.

Also I felt that the series was always at it's best when it wasn't focusing on Baki or Yujiro to be honest. Retsu, Doppo, Jack and so on were the actually cool ones.

This, close the thread

Baki = power of imagination
Other shounen = power of friendship

Baki is shot, but is less shit

I loved it.

>The inherant shittyness of the Wild Fang scans didn't help either I guess.
It isn't Wild Fag scans after Oliva, though.

Baki vs Isao Okano when?

I don't get why everybody is pissed about this fight. It was entertaining from start to finish but it feels like people were rioting in the streets over the ending.

...

Is there any chance Itagaki will portray Donarudo positively?

50%
How know what's inside of Itigaki crazy mind

Remind me when he says that? I want to check the veracity of the Wild Fang scans again.

Thank god this is over. The fan base was cancerous.

Some time in the Katsumi fight.

Baki thread?

Anyone else hyped for the OVA? Baki really deserves more love than it seems to get. I really hope we get an adaptation of the second arc which doesn't butcher the art like the original anime

I would be if I wasn't so worried.
I mean the prisoner arc is 158 chapters.
How do they intend to fit that all in 1 OVA?

We're all hyped for it. It's just that the wait is fucking miserable. It was announced in June, I think, and the fact that it's the Convict arc was announced over a month ago; yet, we've still got another month before it's out.

Jeez I heard that it was gonna be an original story

There's really not a lot of filler to trim in the prisoner arc, if they cut good shit I'm gonna be super disappointed

If it's only one OAD there's no way it's the whole thing, they'll do a single fight or a bunch of highlights or something. Probably a test for a TV anime.

Or maybe they could adapt the whole arc in multiple OADs. If they do this, I was thinking that it would be cool if they take turns focusing on each prisoner rather than adapting the events strictly chronologically.

I should add, on the note that things are terrible, that we still don't have *last week's* raws, yet this week's chapter could be out in Korean tonight.

Being bored as I was, I decided to try to map out who's sitting where in the arena. The spectators are drawn bizarrely consistently in their seating. This was as many characters as I could verify. It doesn't look like Doppo and Gaia are in the visible area on any page, but maybe that's my eyes failing me. See if you can pick out more characters than I.

God I'm hoping it's a test for a TV. The animation in the trailer looks so much more like the manga than before

Itagaki's art is so fucking gross and fluid and it deserves justice and not the early 2000s maximum tournament bullshit

So how does Baki return to a normal life after kidnapping the POTUS on camera? Even if he got an express pardon, there's no way it didn't make the news.

If J. Edgar Hoover can make black people disappear, the modern Baki US establishment can probably wipe something like that off the board altogether.

I mean, the world didn't know that Yuujiro existed, and he's spent most of his life doing loud and obnoxious things on a global scale.

Just what the hell does Itagaki think an American courtroom looks like?

A pretty cool place, I think.

>title of Strongest Creature to Baki.
reminder that baki will make a new friendship treaty with president trump

it was just to long honestly, and was padded out with so much exposition that it was hard to get through in one sitting, it gets better when Baki can actually contend though. Also the Yuchiro stuff seemed out of place

Well, it's not like it was designed to be read in one sitting. It took, what, a year and a half for the manga to get through that last arc of SoO? Try to read it at its own pace, not at a "reader's pace". Also, not sure what you meant about Yuuichiro. I see him as important to the process of trying to understand the Hanmas, at any rate.

I think he could've been introduced earlier, before the fight started would've been good actully

This. I was thinking the whole Baki vs Yujiro arc could work as a movie until I got to "let's kill the pace and stop the fight for several chapters to talk about this guy who randomly appeared".

I thought it worked well to divvy up the fight's 'stages', and to emphasize the gravity of the fight. This is a battle intense enough to make onlookers pray to the combatants; seeing that the fight can actually raise the spirits of the dead gives it an even more special feeling. But I suppose you're right in that, had we just seen ghost spectators randomly intermingled in the crowd, it likely would have had the same effect as the concept that I'm promoting.
