I just finished watching all of Case Closed/Detective Conan English Dubs, 130 episodes
But I fucked up, because the transition to watching the Japanese versions of episodes 130+ is jarring, since I loved the english voice acting
How do you deal with transitioning with this?
I had the same issue when it came to watching a Subbed anime, then going on to read the manga of said anime. Not having the voice acting or music hurts the mood.
Why the fuck would I bother watching it dubbed? I just watched the first 130 episodes subbed to begin with.
William Cook
Just keep on going with the sub. You'll get used to it eventually. That's what I did.
Sebastian Perry
Detective Conan has some of the best VAs in the business. I think you'd like continuing on with the show by watching the subs.
Nolan Reyes
Because I first saw CC when it came to US in english, I decided to start watching all of it a few months ago when I rediscovered it
Also Jimmy and Richards voices are great
Jaxson Morales
>CC >Jimmy >Richards
John Watson
So we can stop talking about the dub now right?
Tyler Smith
Talk about whatever you want bro
Angel Mitchell
that's why you read the manga first and then watch the anime subbed, as with everything
Liam Hill
>How do you deal with transitioning with this?
Easy. I never watched dubs.
Angel Martin
Is anyone still suspicious about this guy? When he was introduced during the hospital arc, I thought he was Vodka in disguise since they really look alike. Are they going to be revealed to be related at some point in the future?
Sebastian Adams
I had this same problem. I just stopped watching them for a while then started watching the subs. after a few episodes you start getting used to it.
detective mori's voice takes the longest to get used to
Juan Clark
>detective mori's voice takes the longest to get used to Yeah, Richards japanese voice was really harsh for me
Also I dont even know the names of anyone
Daniel Nelson
>Richards
Fuck off.
Camden Howard
it scared the shit out of me when I first heard it
Caleb Robinson
gosho aoyama said shuuichi akai and akemi miyano are cousins so anything is possible
Nathan Cooper
Meant to reply to
Liam Price
Source on that claim? Cause they were lovers and .... cousins....?
Chase Perry
Wow thanks
I had the same experience. It was jarring for me because I now had to focus intently on the subtitles or I could miss dialogue. In the dub, it was easy to let the dialogue wash over you and focus your attention on figuring out whodunnit
Brayden Richardson
Aoyama participated in an interview in Singapore earlier this week, confirming this as well as other new pieces of information. Japanese Twitter is going crazy for it
Kevin Turner
Can't read moon. Also it better be a troll that Akai and Akemi are related yet still lovers.
Carson Perry
I can. Here's the translation:
>"Question 2: are Akemi and Akai cousins? >(Aoyama) Sensei's answer: yes"
Carson King
Wow I really didn't want this to be the case but there you go.
Christian Wilson
...
Noah Stewart
Which part of that says cousin? I can't read the kanji but I can read the rest.
Jack Murphy
いとこ
Ryan Myers
itoko?
David Richardson
So she has the eyes right? That's why they haven't been shown yet right?
Cooper Long
SHINE
Easton Sullivan
I fucking hated those twins.
Joseph Walker
The housekeeper twins? How could you hate them?
Carter Howard
The loli twins, the same who called murederer to that guy.
Caleb Cook
Oh right. Forgot about them.
Andrew Carter
Yes, itoko means cousin.
Carter Kelly
Don't die conan thread!
Noah Wood
I can flex between either no problem.
However you just have to stop being a little bitch and go for it. What you saw doesn't scratch the surface of what the series has to offer and putting it off because of not being in your preferred language is a losing battle.
You'll adapt. Until VAs retire or die because the series is so fucking long.
Jordan Garcia
>wow this piece of paper tells me to fucking kill myself >guess I should, superior white english speaker knows best
Brody Howard
Gosho will die first.
Jeremiah Sanchez
Near impossible to watch both. you must choose. You chose poorly if you want to see the rest. But really, 130 eps is enough. It's episodic isn't it? So just move on to something else.
Brandon Cox
Depends on what you want to get out from the series.
Unfortunately Funimation's english dub stops right before the start of the next arc which actually gets the stand-still plot moving. So depsite it "tanking" in its original run they took away one more reason for anybody to care about their dub: they didn't even complete season 5.
If you're watching it for its episodic whodunnit formula you're not exactly wrong but you're probably in the wrong place alongside the rest of the fans.
Obligatory mention of anime/manga hybrid experience list for going fast. Suggestions and critique welcome.
I'm too lazy to do this, but I'd prefer reworking it in such a way (as explained in it) where you can watch/read a group of episodes/chapters out of specific order to get an easier flow. Foe example, “watch the first three episodes then read manga volumes 3 and 4” would cover the first 8 anime episodes.
Joseph Brooks
No fuck your complicated bullshit. Either read every manga chapter or watch every episode. This shit isn't rocket science.
Andrew Walker
Some people want the speed of manga but the superior adaptations where available.
Unless you're going to pedal your idea of "watch what you like". It's not the same as the first raw experience.
John Russell
No I'm pedaling the idea of watch the damn show. Don't pick and choose bullshit that waters down the experience.
Jordan Rodriguez
"Waters down" is not the point of the list. It contains the whole canon and skips nothing, unlike other shit lists which pick and choose even what plot matters at will. This is purely for time and getting the story.
Obviously if they wanted one or the other they wouldn't need it.
Brayden Rodriguez
>It contains the whole canon and skips nothing
Except it skips episodes. Therefore its shit.
Michael Miller
As someone who has watched Naruto, you're full of shit bra. Sometimes you need to speed read through the bad parts. I was never able to do that because I didn't have a good guide, only a guide to what eps were filler so I could skip them
Nathan Flores
There are no bad parts of Conan. Watch everything.
David Bell
Mute it.
If you're not going to help, you're just an asshole.
Oliver Bennett
if it's interesting watch it, if it's boring skip it
Thomas Russell
AO apologist.
I personally like them, but how others view them is their own business. As for which cases are watched or read, that's a disclaimer on the list not everyone will be happy even with suggestions to flex and go with either.
Lucas Cox
It would take around 350 hours to catch up with Conan. About 280 if you were to skip op/eds/recaps/etc.
The list seeks to optimize, to an extent, the time spent at certain points in the canon. You may notice considerable manga bias in the first 5 seasons. It's not that the anime adaptations are bad, filler, or not worth watching. In my opinion it's a better investment to read the source manga chapter in a couple minutes instead of throwing down 20-25 minutes for an episode.
On the contrary, a lot of the manga cases while still good have great adaptations which should be experienced first.
Each medium has their strengths and weaknesses so going between them gets both.
Michael Stewart
With anything as long as Conan, you are going to have bad parts
Caleb Jackson
Same guy, I should throw in my personal anecdote.
I have watched ALL of Conan (AOs, movies, magic files, OVAs, Magic Files, etc), it took about a year on/off and letting the plot pull a few extra eps out of me in places. I will never regret it, but it was an insane undertaking and climb.
This list is my contribution to newcomers that may want to commit but not balls to the wall.
Justin Smith
>said magic files twice Magic Kaito specials and 1412 anime*
Magic Files 1412
Camden Gutierrez
Good god
Dominic Jones
>newcomers that may want to commit but not balls to the wall.
We call those casuals and they can fuck off right now. Watch everything or don't come into these threads.
Jaxson Williams
>As someone who has watched Naruto >watched Naruto
Opinion discarded. Kindly kill yourself.
Elijah Walker
it's just anime dude
Adam Mitchell
...
Jordan Baker
>Q: Is there a reason why Kudo Shinichi and Kaito Kid look exactly the same?
>A: I can’t tell it, there’s a reason
Sebastian Ramirez
To be fair the back half of the first series is all filler.
If you went in not knowing that you'd be watching irrelevant ninja mission of the day for about 90 episodes while they constantly "mention" the plot but do nothing about it.
Not that I would know.
Jonathan Myers
Do you even know where you are? Lurk the fuck moar.
Hunter Jones
source?
ARE THE COUSINS?
Brandon Turner
Rewatch with subs
Landon Lopez
I think Gosho enjoys lying all the time when people ask him questions. Like
