I'm currently 21 and in my last year studying history at UCL. My father was a soldier and died in action when I was 12. Before he left home he told me that if anything happened to him I would have to be the man of the house and I have always strived to live up to that promise. I help mum with bills when it's needed and I've been a combination of brother and father figure, as well a close friend, to my sister. Growing up we were as close as siblings can be, we were always there for each other and could talk about anything.
I've always taught her to respect herself and be responsible so when she told me she had got her first boyfriend I wasn't too worried. I assumed she would make a good choice. I was actually surprised it came so late, what with her being both blonde, smart and extremely pretty.
However the boyfriend turned out to not only be 17 but the absolute epitome of everything I consider wrong with both my country and my gender. For one he's a complete wigger who dresses like a rapper, loves rap and grime and always talks like he's from the fucking ghetto. He has no real ambitions in life and hangs around with a gang of mostly black kids who I strongly suspect are involved with drugs. Hes also far too handsy with her and I once caught a glimpse of a text message where he refered to her as his bitch. If he hasn't gone all the way with her already I suspect he will soon.
I tried to talk to her about it honestly like we normally would about anything but she just flew off the handle like I've never seen before. She accused me of being over protective and "just not understanding him" she insinuated I was racist for mistrusting his friends and then even accused me of being jealous and having honest to god incestuous feelings for her.
I hope I don't have to tell you how much that hurt. That night after she had stormed out I cried for the first time since my fathers death.
How the hell do I make her see sense without driving her further away? I just know she's doing to end up heartbroken chewed up and spat out. She's the most precious thing in the world to me and seeing that happen would be like a knife in the heart.
