Hokuto no Ken thread

I took the liberty of translating the one-shot Hokuto no Ken spinoff "Heart of Meet" for you guys, because it doesn't seem to be translated in English anywhere, not even in the Hokuto no Gun website..

Heart of Meet: The Promise From That Day (HEART of Meet　あの日の約束) is a one-shot story published in the February 2013 issue of Comic Zenon and later collected as a backup story in the first volume of Hokuto no Ken: Ichigo Aji. It's essentially the origin story for Mr. Heart and what inspired him to become the fat bastard he ended up being later in life.

The later volumes of Ichigo Aji also have similar backup stories for other characters, which I'm planning to translate as well sometime in the future, but for now enjoy this.

Emma: "It can't be helped. The young master is just too much of gentleman."
Sara: "That's just the kind of thing you would say, Emma."

Sara: "But gentleness alone isn't enough for a boy."
Sara: "If you pamper him too much, Al will just grow up to be another girl."
Sara: "Drink your milk!"
Alfred: "But sister, I don't like milk very much!?"
Sara: "Don't you want to grow up to be big? You must grow up to become strong."
Alfred: "It's no use... I'm a weakling."
Alfred: "Besides... I don't like fighting anyway."
Sara: "Al..."
Sara: "Our parents died in that accident."

Sara: "That's why you must grow up to be stronger."
Sara: "Nobody is going to protect you forever."

Sara: "I'm sorry, Jessica, but I must get back home! I have a bad feeling."

Emma: "A couple of men attacked me... And they took the young master..."
Sara: "What!?"

I love anime/manga licensed games because they have to make a moveset out of all these mooks and one-off villains. The HnK fighting game went with Heart over guys like Shuh, Juuza, and Fudoh, and his moveset consists of slapping and repelling batons thrown by his mooks. His instant kill is him slapping you really hard, and his super is him yelling about how much it hurts.

Al: "No! Let me go!"
Jack: "Quiet pipsqueak!"
Al: "B-blood...!"
Jack: "Keep calm if you don't want to get beaten any further!"
Hennel: "Hurry!"
Jack: "I know, don't rush me!"
Hennel: "If everything goes right after this, we'll be rich."

Jack: "What the hell does this brat want?"

Wait, how old is Heart supposed to be?

Shin: "Sure."
Shin: "But if you continue living in fear, then your life might be meaningless."
Al: "Sara... I will become a strong like you told me to."
Al: "I will follow that man."

And then the world was engulfed in nuclear flames.
Heart: "Oink oink!"
Heart: "So you're the master of Hokuto Shinken!? You got some nerve to call me a pig."

Heart: "Hit me anywhere you like!"

Shin: "You see, Heart is really quite amiable -- unless he sees his own blood. Then he just can't seem to calm down until he's killed somebody."
Heart: "IT HURTS!"
Ken: "Hokuto Jūhazan (Soft Breaking Slash)!"
Ken: "Before Hokuto Shinken you are nothing more but a lump of fat. Die!"
Heart: "What are you talking about?"

More or less. There are two more extra stories in Vol. 1 centered around Shin's other henchmen, but they're completely satirical. I didn't plan on translating those.

The serious backup stories in the later volumes focus on some of the main Nanto Seiken and Goshasei warriors (e.g. Souther, Hyui & Shuren, Fudo, Juda and Shin)

Bonus: A few facts about Heart.
1. He's the strongest of Shin's four lieutenants in the manga.
2. His body has a peculiar character that allows him to absord any attack.
3. He becomes enraged at the sight of his own blood and does not calm down until he kills somebody.
4. His final words are "Hidebu!"
5. In the original anime he has the same voice as Nappa from Dragon Ball Z (Shozo Iizuka).
6. In the 1986 movie he has the same voice as Dokurobei from Yatterman (Junpei Takiguchi)
7. In Ken's Rage he has the same voice as Cell Jr. from Dragon Ball Kai (Takahiro Fujimoto)
8. Kenshiro has three different lines when he first confronts Heart, depending on which version of the manga you're reading.
9. He laughs like a pig.
10. He has an obese body and dresses with huge suspenders and shoulder pads.
11. He was modeled after wrestler Abdullah the Butcher
12. He has a Heart symbol and the letter K from the playing card tattooed on the upper left corner of his face.
13. He normally has a kind personality and speaks in a gentle tone.
14. He is nicknamed "The Destroyer of Martial Arts".
15. He was killed by Ken's "Hokuto Jūhazan" technique
16. In the anime he underestimates the power of Hokuto Shinken by calling it a "greenhorn style".
17. In the original serialized version of the manga, he was called a "Mad Butcher" (this was changed to "Mad Killer" in reprints).
18. In the 1986 movie, he served Jagi instead of Shin.
19. In early promotional materials for the 1986 movie, Heart was briefly renamed "Elephant."
20. Heart appears in a total of 20 pages and 59 panels in the manga.
21. When Heart is attacked by his henchmen after going mad, his belly is struck by nine clubs at the same time (probably a Guinness record).
22. In Sega's fighting game version of Fist of the North Star, Heart is given the honorific "sama" to his name.
23. In the English version of the same game, he is referred to as "Mr. Heart."

24. In Ken's Rage there's a scene where he turns against Shin.
25. In the same game he's a playable character via DLC.
26. As a playable character in Ken's Rage, Heart can use numerous techniques that make use of his belly, as well as the same fire breathing technique used by the leader of Ken-oh's invasion squad.
27. In Ken's Rage there's a scenario in which he joins forces with Fudo to fight against the allied forces of Jagi, Uighur and the Fang King for food.
28. According to an official guide, Jagi and Heart both have an overall strength grade of C.

Well Ken does call Mr. Heart "Shin's pig" in the original manga.

I think they went with Heart because a lot of the Nanto guys are way too similar. Then again, I'm guessing they could've used Fudo or a villain like Uighur or Kiba for the token big guy though.
