That said this is actually *almost* funny. The thing is that the Ben Garrison memes weren't funny because of Ben Garrison's format.
The Ben Garrison memes were funny because everything Ben could be so easily converted into NatSoc propaganda, and he HATED it. And the fact that he got so buttmad actually made it funnier. It then became even funnier when Ben started subtly coming around to the memes, and eventually ended up more or less enjoying the joke himself.
The thing is, the Left lacks the self-aware nature of the Sup Forums Right. /leftypol/ in particular clearly does not understand what "transgressive" actually means, they seem to think that simply stating Marxist opinions is offensive.
It obviously isn't. You can go do it anywhere any nobody will bat an eyelash, but if you flip a Seig Heil your own people will start panicking and calling you a glow in the dark CIA nigger.
And that's really the problem. Thirty years ago it was transgressive to suggest that faggotry was natural and trannies shouldn't be electrocuted, but it isn't now. Thirty years ago it was heresy to suggest that we redistribute wealth and tax the rich, but these days it isn't. Marxism isn't edgy.
The last edgy frontier right now is Nazis. We're the only edge that remains. You NEED to be on the edge to be funny, otherwise what you're doing isn't real comedy, it's just reaffirmation of politically correct views. To be frank, that isn't enough anymore.
So if the Left wants to meme like we do, to walk like we, talk like we, they need to find a way to actually offend people again. Not us. Pissing off Sup Forums accomplishes nothing, we're always mad, even at each other. I mean normal people. You have to fucking horrify and scare the normies. The fact of the matter is, I don't think they're capable of it. The Left feeds off of the affirmation of normies these days, they CAN'T be transgressive without de-facto ceasing to be Leftists.
