I want to believe

I have been a non believer since I was about 10 years old. I'm in my mid 30's now, and through my years, I have always been jealous of religious people. How much happier they look, how much better they seem to be able to cope with lifes bullshit. Has anyone ever gone back to religion? If so, do you feel like you've had to compromise to believe? Just curious.

>grew up in an Atheist family
>always felt like there was something higher
>went with the most popular thing and became Christian
>didn't like it, got bored of it
>became Atheist and Anarchist with Communist tendencies
>always liked reading about Mythologies as a child
>got more into it again and became Pagan
>became a monarchist and drifted in National Socialism
I've always felt that being a believer is more natural than being a non-believer.

I wholeheartedly agree that being a believer is more natural. It just seems right. I don't know if that makes sense. But for me, it's like having a block in my thought process every time I feel the need to go back. I could describe it like a fat person going on a diet, knowing they should be fit, but the next day I'm eating the cake again.

dude Buddhism and hindu are brotier and have more smarter people, I would do those honestly although im atheist (I know whats bullshit) those are probably the most western shit in existence european culture is technically from hindu just go with the flow dude

Christianity is regressive though it blocks scientific advances

I see where you are coming from, and I have looked into a lot of different beliefs. I always just feel like I'm paying lip service, and I would rather that not be the case, as I try very hard to be as honest a person as I can.

I guess that just means that you haven't found the right religion yet. A good religion feels like a good work out. It's healthy and just makes you feel good.
A bad religion is more like a badly done work out, without the proper form. It just feels uncomfortable and boring

Read John, then Acts, then Romans, then the whole NT, then the whole OT and NT again.

I think you are correct. I suppose I just have to keep looking. I am the type of person to be very hard on myself If I feel I am being intellectually dishonest, and I am sure that plays quite the part in my religious quest, as for the longest time, and still to an extent, I valued my disbelief.

I will do that. Is there a reason behind reading in that order? I have spoken with quite a few pastors, and was never told to approach it like that.

John was written to get people saved so it's easily the most important
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Also make sure it's KJV like the link I posted

I see, thank you for clarifying. I did download, the KJV pdf, thank you very much for that.

Sorry, but that is a no go for me. Even if I did want to give it a try, I would lose my entire livelihood, as my career is very safety sensitive, thus drug tests are frequent. Thank you for the suggestion though,

Matthew 7
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Thank you for contributing to this thread. Do you think most of the religious people who come to /po/ are Christian? I feel like it might be a bit much to reconcile the Christian faith with what goes on here. I could be thinking about it wrong though.

Choose Christianity. Atheism is bullshit and so is every other religion. Paganism is idolatrous filth. Judaism is poison. Islam is heresy. Only Choose Chrisitianity.

I would recommend a Greek interlinear version as well. There are some inaccuracies in the KJV sadly, and having access to the greek words adds quite a bit of depth (searching definitions).

I understand what you are saying, but I never thought of my being an atheist as bullshit. The atheists you see on the internet, most of the time, are absolutely full of shit, and are incapable of thinking for themselves. A lot of us understand that, because we don't believe in a God, doesn't mean there isn't one, just that we don't see the evidence. But, I guess my thought process has changed quite a bit through the years, because I'm not sure if I was so taken with my lack of belief, that I may have passed over something else that would have specifically felt real, and true, to me. Thank you for you input, it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for that. I've never considered looking beyond the KJV. I just figured it was all much the same, just worded different. Do you possibly have a source for something I could pick up? Maybe I could just google it.

There is a God, religion helps you if you want to look.
Read. Always be skeptic, don't be a goy.

Saved. And thanks for your words, seems a bit of wisdom there.

That is definitely a different way of looking at it than what I'm used to. That really seems something to ponder seriously.

I wrote a program to merge all of these into books, so I could upload those if you'd like. Just makes it easier. And yea, nearly every time I read Greek verses and get the word definitions I find something fascinating. Example, the word for "spirit" is pneumati, but it can also mean breath in non-religious context. With that in mind, Revelation 13:15 could have a slightly different meaning (not to give "breath" to the second beast, but a "spirit"). Hope this helps, I really enjoy researching this topic. Always learning.

Man, that is awesome! Thank you for the link. I went to amazon, and found a few interlinear bibles. I'm going to go ahead and by one, and I think that site you provided will help me quite a bit with definitions and meanings and whatnot. I really appreciate your effort friend!
