They need to change the laws. It's one thing when a small or medium sized company gets to set their own terms, but when we're talking about a service that a huge portion of the population uses and that is deemed almost a necessary part of daily life for a lot of people, it needs to be regulated.
Nationalization might be taking it too far, but they should not be allowed to discriminate against people for their political views.

They did it to Microsoft a few years back, because of their supposed monopoly in certain areas, but they don't seem to give a shit about companies like Google, Facebook and Twitter.

they can collect data by ip and metadata, not necessarily cookies (some authorization token).

they can only collect off-twitter data from pages their shit is embedded on anyway, so if for example the right stuff doesn't embed twitter's stuff, twitter will never be able to detect if some user visits TRS or not. this is how facebook collects your data, with those embedded facebook sharing links among other things.

i doubt twitter would ban people based on this data anyway, they meant just banning public people on twitter for doing things off twitter, most likely off the internet too.
