80's new wave is the best genre of music. Prove me wrong.

Slide thread
sage

Nothing says wholesome like the coke addictions and STDs that defined 80s pop.

>Prancing around like a bunch of faggots
>Not degenerate

I listened to Duran Duran this morning while cleaning my house. But new wave is just alright. Shoo shoo

proto-transsexual gender bending rich kids who worked for intelligence? No...

>Duran Duran

And you cite a picture of a group of shit fuckers that synthesized 95% of their music.

>Back when music wasn't degenerate shit

Pumped Up Kicks; not from the 80's.

...

Music is political faggot. Just because you don't like a thread doesn't mean it's a fucken slide thread. KILL YOURSELF

I liked the 80s fine, but there was a period between about 1972/3 and 1980ish that was really interesting. It mostly wasn't AS polished as the 80s, but there was some really good stuff.

New wave is only good in spurts, bad ratio of good songs to crap.
Early Ace of Base however,

80's had there problems..

Grindcore Master Race.

>bucnh of queers wearing makeup and dyed hair

ummm Op...

I like this.
t. only ever listened to all that she wants and the sign

First album is god-tier, 2nd album has some misses, but still great. Anything after is rough, Mailin wanted out.
Tech-Noir and studio decibel pre-fame tracks on youtube are solid.

Something tells me Mailin wouldn't cuck to studuo execs. That, plus Ulf being a teenage Nazi edgebro cemented their spiral out of the limelight.

Sure they used the same bloody beat throughout the album .

probably true

youtube.com/watch?v=0DGvjdZGyrI

the music itself wasn't degenerate but the singers/performers definitely were.

Based

Yeah, Duran 2 was special

>Duran Duran
>Sang "The Wild Boys"
>Named after William Burroughs book of the same name about homosexual skinhead gangs and their erotic adventures

Good music thread?

Vince Clark - Was the 80's

80's was the most degenerate decade until 2010's.

New Wave is what punk rock turned into when members got too old to "fight the power". New Wave is pussy punk that people only think that they like. Both of them may as well be a full fledged "fuck off" to hair metal, especially when grunge came around.

Retrowave is the greatest genre of music. It takes us back to a time that never existed. Therefore it will always exist in a vacuum of nostalgia that can never be corrupted.

You had Maggie and Regan in the 80's .. Nothing degenerate about those two.

It's started in the 70's.. Anything else is retrospective.

Recently learned of Drab Majesty.
Decent, but the artist looks like a total Degen.

I don't know if Depeche Mode is considered New Wave but they make similar music and hands down one of the greatest electronic/synth bands of all time

youtube.com/watch?v=jQuQd1HIK7I

Early Depeche Mode is alright but they've really reached their true potential with their later darker, gloomier songs

There is a revival
youtube.com/watch?v=to-nZLV794g

They recovered when Vince left as Alan Wilder was hired.

Then Wilder left and things got difficult. .

agreed

Weren't 80s sex, drugs and alcohol years?

New wave triggered the fuck out of cultural Marxist critics back in the day. It was an exclusively white, mainly European movement that was degenerate but espoused themes that white people could relate to from a purely white cultural reference. They hated that you could be a white man in a white city, listening to a white band, talking about white issues. Even though what they preached was antithetical to a healthy society, the new wave was looked down upon because (((they))) had lost control of the narrative. One of the reasons people are conditioned to hate 80s music is because of this.

Punk started as a white movement but critics liked it on a human level before realizing its implications. When they did, they coopted it pretty quickly (see the turn of Jello Biafra, Henry Rollins, etc)

There's a book about The Police that talks about this from a lefty perspective, forget what it's called.

Couldn't be an 80's thread with Vangelis

youtu.be/skiNUaOS3mg?t=4s

Agreed. It seemed to be a period where you had all sorts of new music becoming popular or at least getting noticed (punk, new wave, disco, rap, electronic, and heavy metal to name a few). It must have been an exciting time to be a music fan.

Am i a faggot?

Not much more so than the 70s were. There's a myth that the 80s were the party decade or that drug use was especially common in the 60s compared to later years. Those are just lazy, mythical classifications.

In the 60s the vast majority of people were conservative, Christian, and nationalistic. A small but influential group of hippies took command of the cultural direction, but most people wouldn't have ever realized it unless they watched some documentary on the 60s. Read some work by rock critics and talk to actual hippies and you'll get an accurate picture of the era.

Yes...

Brian Eno had left..

Songs about loving to suck dick are the reason 80s music sucks

New wave? 80s GLAM ROCK ALL THE WAY FUCKERS

youtube.com/watch?v=GlN3oEjMpUQ

Talentless putrescine cunt...

Shit like this why Tool and MJK wrote Stinkfist.

The 80's had some good music and none of it was New Wave.

>Songs about loving to suck dick are the reason 80s music sucks
As if the 80s have a monopoly on degeneracy and faggotry.

In the 80s they tried to subtle about it. Today they are blatant.
>bitch get on yo knees
>and say please
>as I give you dees
>NUTZ

I think the 70's and 80's had more wit..

You couldn't get away with the dross, that comes out today.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax
> both the video and song were banned.

However some risky songs sneaked in

The Vapors - Turning Japanese

Cindi Lauper - She Bop
