Both tanks and giant robots are consider mecha genre by Japanese, but why there are so few anime about tank compare to giant robot? Even planes got more anime than tanks.

Robots are the same thing as Mecha.
A Robot can be a dog, a dragon, anything as long as it's mechanical. But a Mecha will always be humanoid.

I don't even know how you thought tanks are mecha

It's the Japanese definition.

Because humanoid robots are more interesting to kids than tanks are.

Cultural cringe regarding war. I think the Muv Luv guy talked about it once.

Artillery is boring compared to things that can fly.

because tanks are actually useful while mechs are cool

I thought modern Japanese kids don't even like robots.

But most giant robot shows are about war?

It depends on how advanced the technology is

Well at least they got one good tank anime now. Be greatful.

>Useful

If you're in a world where you can use a giant robot suit, tanks are not going to be worth shit.

>I thought modern Japanese kids don't even like robots.
That's true, but they care even less about tanks.

Also, robots allow you to make the show primarily about the characters struggling to win the war, while with tanks a particular person's efforts will not really influence the outcome all that much, and it's a much more complicated affair of rock-paper-scissors, where quite often the tank will simply be useless, and there won't be a a set of backpacks for the tank to master every terrain.

>10 posts later, they still do not realized that I am a Panther.

But where not and the creators of mech shows have to keep on making some bullshit to show how cool their mechs can be

Even Sup Forums don't care about tanks, GuP thread now a day become waifu circle jerk general.

>GuP
>good

literally moe moe kyun shit tier

Hey, don't talk shit about GuP.

Oh fuck!

Humanoid mechs are part of the grand Japanese theory that war went to shit once guns were invented. Honorable bushi wear spiky hats, fire one shot with a bow, make a speech, then fight to the death with swords.

>fight to the death with swords.
Why would you use your side-arm as your primary weapon?

I haven't seen a bad anime where tanks played a main role, but there are plenty of bad animus with humanoid mechs. Why is this?

Because of lack of tank anime?

I haven't seen an anime where tanks played a main role, aside from GuP

Same, but it was a good show

the gup movie was shit also you are a retard

No, you

GuP movie was silly, but fun.

It's not about practicality, it's about sounding cool.
For example, polearms are for women and babies. Real men either kill their opponent with one arrow while jumping a horse over a canyon, or they have a big knife fight.

>jumping a horse over a canyon,
That would suck when your army is active in an area without any canyons.

GuP is literally trash just because of that moe shit. I want to watch it but I can't get over how shit that useless moe is

>big knife
Good taste.

Only because giant robots run on bulshit magic tech while other war machines have more realistic limitations

...

>I don't even know how you thought tanks are mecha
Mecha = "mechanical". Not "giant humanoid robot". Yes, I'm fully aware "mechanical giant humanoid roboty" is the most commonly depicted kind of mecha. That doesn't mean they are the only one. Just like most anim is nowadays moe stuff, but that doesn't mean that all anime is moe.

>GuP
>Moe
Pfffft. If you're baiting, at least do it right and cal it "pedophiliac pantyshot yuri show", like a pro.

>tank
>GMC m10

Hmm, a wolverine with a muzzle break on the gun, how novel. And what appears to be interleaved road wheels only used by German armour. Yes, very novel.

Sorry mein kameraden.

Nothing wrong here, fellow Amerikaner.

...

GuP was pretty crap in my opinion.

Too little tank, too much girls doing girlie things.

>muzzle break
So a Merkava?
Seriously. It's so difficult to learn a simple five-letters word? B·R·A·K·E

Nips can't into tanks.

>no brake = muzle break
Proper

You didn't watch it right. The whole show was an excuse to animate tanks. There's almost no story, very little character related stuff, no lewds. I wish it was a more character-driven show.

>tanks
>no lewds
Doesn't compute

He's trying to bait you, user. We're in 2016. Baiting GuP fans with variations of "it's just K-On with tanks" is a 2012-vintage meme.

Rikujou Bouei-tai Mao-chan

>Mao-chan

That's a fucked up looking wolverine.

Are you sure you're not a German?

Not sure what more disappointing. That your reinforcement turned out to be enemy or that you got panthers instead M10.

Acording to Germans it is still panzer.

Because TANKS ARE WEAK!

This series was /k/ as fuck

Do not talk shit about the Panther.

>german crew driving a german tank with american markings conversing with american officers
What the fuck is this? I don't remember many instances of germans defecting to the allies and being allowed to keep their equipment.

>they have a nightpot helmets that means they're USaians
The camouflage worked.

Google "Unternehmen Greif" you ignoramus

> it's a Panther/M10
> M10 tank destroyer.jpg
literately the first thing I noticed.

Maybe robots sell better than tanks?

>insulting me
Of course I know about Operation Greif, but I didn't knew they used actual german tanks, I just assumed they used captured ones.
I mean it's a retarded idea, you'd immediately notice that that M10 is way off if you ever saw one before.

>insulting me

Grow a thicker skin, faggot

nuffin personnel I assume you mouthbreather?

Problem?

Because robots&battlesuits > tank

But they were shit user.
Why not at least IS?
This 152mm can't hit for shit and even if it does - solid armor without serious defects easily withstand the blast.
Sure Nazi armor composition was far from perfect by the time Panther seen battle.
They only put these SU-152 together cuz they have a ton of extra ship guns, leftovers from late Tzar\Early USSR productions.
It's a saw off of ship artillery gun.
Not the thing you need to fight other tanks.

>"Of course I know about Operation Greif"
>proceeds to prove that he does, in fact, NOT know about Operation Greif
Do you remember those "you need to be this tall before riding this attraction" signs?

This is like argument for katanas with showing gifs of better swords being cut like butter by katanas in anime.

>solid armor without serious defects easily withstand the blast.
Pfffffft!
Seriously, user. If you want to learn up to which point you were wrong, go to the /ak/ thread; but the TL;Dr is, the brute force of the explosion was enough to rip the armor in half. Inb4 you call me slavboo for that.
Also, inb4 your only defence when I correct you on the common myth that late war German armor was crap (that was a solely based upon tests made with armor from already destroyed Panthers in 1945. Yet the Panther was in service since 1943) is to call me wehrboo. Please stick with one ad hominen only, user.
The one I'll use for you is "casual".

Thought I was on /m/ for a second there. Funny that it's the exact same discussion that's always held there.
>M10 Tank Destroyer

>Brute force of explosion
Tested by yankees, works fine on vulnerable equipment and the roof of tanks, tracks too.
Head-on against anything decently armored - it's useless.
They have a problem of commander hatch flying inside crew compartment after direct artillery hit.
Other than that tank was in decent condition after the hit, roof is intact apart from hatch and all, crew was dead of course.
>can't hit for shit
This is true.
It was extremely inaccurate which is a shitty thing considering overwhelming superiority of Panther fire and observation ranges.
You have to get much closer to hit than a Panther can hit you.
I'm a slav myself, but don't twist the facts.
This vehicle was not done by choice.
If they had better gun to put on it at the time- they would do just that.

I love way you type, slav-chan. Is very slav.

Thanks comrade.
>-chan
Nice insult.

Everyone here is little girl. There is no insult in being called chan.

watch pumpkin scissors if you want tanks its not the main focus but still veary good

Not really.
Mechs only work in fiction.

Then you really shouldn't even try to watch anime. Fuck off back to /k/. Anime is not a medium which bothers with social conventions like seriousness, because it realizes every single part of life can be matched up with one another. Cute things and weapons of destruction go together just as well as anything else in a universe where the only order is a delusion perceived by mankind.

>200lbs 5'9"
>balding
>bearded
>body hair enough to knit a sweater
>little girl
Gosh, that makes me oddly excited user.

I spoilered myself the fight where this chick in coat fought someone with a zweihander.
Is it really worth a time for a weeb of 12 years?

yes i liked it and i dont genarly watch older animes

>Even planes got more anime than tanks
Planes are more graceful than tanks, and sky is better battle scene than land.

What I really want is an anime that's just souped-up martial arts. No magical weapons, no swords or guns. Just body to body martial arts, but the characters are maybe 100-1000 times faster and stronger than the strongest human. So, Dragon Ball Z but faster paced and without energy beams.

One Punch?
One Piece?

have you tried
