I based it on my personal opinion and enjoyment, it is one of those shows I remember really well and couldn't stop watching.

I remember people complain about the second half, but it still was great I find.

Starts slow, and hard for plebs to understand. Outside of that its a nice watch.

I think it was the beginning of the final third that people disliked, after they move to Nippon but before Cal shows herself.
The fake identity stuff and the mafia princess were forgettable.
The middle arc and end were fantastic imo, even though the middle was mostly a reimagining of The Professional.

Its only interesting to talk about anime if its either hilariously bad, unbelievably awsome or a wild ride between these two

The ending was truly masterful, I only found the villain to be bit weak, especially near the end.
I really should rewatch it too. I forgot a great many things about it, which is a shame for such a lovely show.

Shin Sekai Yori is non ironically one of the best original Anime in the last decade.

When does it get good? Even before the fags it was pretty fucking boring.

Never understood why this show is so highly praised.

While it has some fantastic sequences like Shun's demise, there's so much left to be desired that it really drags down the whole experience. I think you can perfectly describe SSY as "wasted potential." There was a lot of great world building that the show proceeded to do little with. A lot of the events felt either too rushed or too slow. As much as I liked Shun's karma sequence, there was pretty much no interesting build up thanks to the time skip. I get that this show is meant to show glimpses of specific events that are integral to Saki's development as a character, but these events don't really do anything for any of the other characters. I really like Saki, I think she's a great MC, but the other characters not so much. Because of the strange pacing, the events that SHOULD make an impact didn't really affect me as much as I think they should have. The colony war was supposed to be crazy event that changed the landscape of the colonies but it never really felt like we were witnessing that. The karma demon attacking the town is supposed to be the big "oh shit" moment but to me it didn't really feel like that big of a deal, even though I knew that it really was. Essentially it failed to connect with me for some reason and I'm still unsure of what that reason is

It wasn't an anime original. The source material was a novel.

Not a light novel like I've seen some people call it, an actual novel.

People do the same thing with Hyouka, and it annoys me to no end.

It's quality is kind of like a snowball in that the longer it goes on, it gets exponentially more interesting. The last arc is fucking amazing stuff.

That said, I'm somewhat biased as I really enjoyed the worldbuilding early on so it was never really boring imo.

I think that the fact that there's a couple of guys in the world that liked it is way more than it should.

The beginning built the world
The middle built the characters
The end is the payoff

You should. There were those few episodes in hs where pretty much nothing happens, but the final few episodes are fantastic.

Truth be told I've forgotten pretty much everything aside the main plot points. But I do remember one of the endings from when I played the VN on the dvd player.

Which was the ending where Zwei invades the Yakuza (?) building, not sure if it was on the route where Cal dies or if it was Ein. Gunshots are heard all over the building and then everything goes silent. The boss in the other room thinks Zwei was shot down only for him to show up full of bullets holes on him, he kills the boss and dies.

It was silly as fuck but I still found it pretty badass.

I feel like the story and characters can feel dry is because it's all ment to lead up to the last episode and Squealer's trial, witch to it's credit is the strongest part of the series, and an ending to an anime that's actually satisfying

The characters were less about being stand alone characters and more about exploring which aspect of humanity we can or cannot retain or which aspects hurt us the most. You can get some good discussion out of SSY but most of it concerns themes rather than plot or symbolism so its much harder to get a thread going.

What? The only negative things i've seen Sup Forums say about it were about the highschool bullshit and Cal's unnatural growth, or anons who played the vn and disagreed with the choice of ending to adapt.
Every time i see it mentioned, anons just agree it was a good show.

Am I the only person who thought it was shit? While a little interesting conceptually, it took WAY too long to show the tedious 'deep' details of the characters' relationships and was generally a bore until the final arc.
