Why did Death Note get so shitty after L

Why did Death Note get so shitty after L.

It got considerably weaker when Yotsuba started. Then after L it became wild assumptions general, so it wasn't as fun.

>It got considerably weaker when Yotsuba started.

This. Moreover Near is nowhere near as likable as L and he got through the solution by assumptions and wild guesses instead of logic.

Definitely got weak as soon as Yotsuba got underfoot. Also they put in Misora way too early and got her offed in a stupid as shit way and lost all potential plots with her.

But I think the hugest issue is that the series was built off the antagonistic relationship between Light and L, so when you write the plot to have him die halfway through the story has nowhere to go.

It's basically wasted potential: the anime

L felt like an equal to Light, neither Near or Mello felt like that.
They were like kids that got lucky, it wasnt really satisfying to watch them try to play with Light like L did

Author ran out of ideas, as simple as that.

Because the entire premise of the whole series was that it was supposed to be Kira vs L.

When L died then it just kept going naturally it turned to shit due to the main premise being all but abandoned. Also the author had to asspull a new super detective to keep the story going.

Anyone here hype for the Netflix film?

show was flawed since episode 2

>light immediately kills what he believes is an innocent man because he disagrees with him

entire narrative trashed

>Black rapper L

What the fuck were they thinking?

>>edgiest anime of all time
>>flawed

Do you really have to ask?

I could have gotten behind a Light vs Mello story arch, since Mello felt completely different to L and didn't care at all abouts doing things legally nor bringing Light to justice, which opened hundreds of options for him that L coudln't even consider even if he wasn't as smart.
Near was just a weaker, more uninteresting L.

How is the new movie? Who get killed by whom?

Light sees himself as God, anyone who gets in the way of his justice must be smitten down.

>weaker
>uninteresting

His outward similarities to L contrasted with his huge moral dissonance to L. L wanted to beat Kira with logic and justice alone, he was a very principled person who wanted to keep the moral high-ground over Kira.
Near just likes winning, he doesn't care much for the right and wrong of it and it's heavily implied he used the Death Note to create that victory, which L would never have done.

The moment Misa was unveiled the series started to lose it.

It was best when it was pretty much a 1v1.

he carried the show

>moral high ground
>principles
What?
>tortured and illegally detained a teenage girl for months
>had a guy die in his place
>only took the case because it felt challenging
Really now, when he captured Misa and her tortured was the tipping point, it was his "Lind L Taylor kill" moment

Bakuman sort of explained they extended the plot for the sake of the upcoming anime. The characters in the manga decide to not do it, which is pretty much an apology for post-L Death Note

Misora's arc was the strongest shit, though. Very tightly plotted.

That's Sword Art Online

Authors hinted as to why that was the case with Bakuman with that small vent about how editors wanted to stretch the series out instead of letting the story pad out as they originally wanted.

No that's Gary Sue:The anime

That as well. SAO was really flawed (especially after the first arc) but it had great potential if it was done right

easy ( for me ) it was interesting until L's death because i was always asking myself how will Light get out of this situation, what will be the next move and so on. so i kept guessing around and felt like the show kinda wanted to have the viewer to think for themselves, which was fun. with the introduction of these wannabe kids the entire plot was so obvious i barely couldnt watch it and oh boy they had to work together to bring him down, who would have thought that? so it became rather boring and frustrating to watch at this point

The post-L story would have been perfect if Light actually WON. It would have been interesting to see his acension to godhood facing off the few left that might oppose him bit would ultimately fail as even the great L did. As is it was okay. As already said I find Mello the much more interesting character.

Recently watched Death Note with a friend who hasn't watched an anime ever and we talked about everything that's in this thread. Basically this guy is my friend

Oh, wow, Matsuda dies in the new movie.

As well as everyone else who survived the manga. The ony survivor is the new Kira. Oh, and most twists are fucking reused from previous installments.

Because that's when the series was supposed to end but editor meddling made them continue a popular product.

>Light Winning
>L winning
>Mello Winning
Funny how any of those would have been better than what we got

This, It really felt slow after L died so I dropped it

>The characters in the manga decide to not do it, which is pretty much an apology for post-L Death Note
What did you mean by this?

see
Ashirogi Muto (the author duo insert) run a series relying on the central conflict between the two main characters. When they get an anime, they're asked to extend the series even after that central conflict is resolved, but in the end decide against it and end it full throttle.

Is the manga ending different?

No swimming lesson

this is the scariest shit I've ever seen I gotta read bakuman do go through with it

Want to know how musical ended?
Right after Light kills L Ryuk gets bored again and kills him.

Death Note got shit after L is a meme, the last part was still good and the conclusion where Kira got btfo was satisfying at least.

Also I actually liked Near, Mello not so much.

>conclusion where Kira got btfo was satisfying
>Also I actually liked Near

So much shit taste in one post. Fucking Nearfags I swear

>Liking Light
Fuck off Edgelord

> the conclusion where Kira got btfo was satisfying at least.

are you fucking shitting me
"we swapped the books which you predicted but then we swapped again lol" is not satisfying

in general a mystery with no buildup isn't satisfying and that's really the main problem of the near episodes, they keep pulling shit ou8t of their asses
the L episodes were entertaining because it was a cat and mouse play we could all follow long as it slowly built up over time

Hey at least we got Swimming Lessons out of it.

That's perfectly fine, just fucking go with it.

It should have ended like the musical.

did anybody actually like Mello I at the least thought he was more interesting than Near since near is just L. Remember mello btfo of Light first baited him then got the deathnote made Light consider killing his sister and found out the fake notebook. My only problem with the later half of deathnote is how careless light was he overlooked everything didn't handle aizawa, didn't think anybody find his meetings with of takada suspicious, and underestimated near and mellow. hell he practically gave it way when people were raiding the spk HQ he was too desperate to kill near

I agree, i think it would've been more interesting if there they showed us more Mello instead of N.
And yeah, Light does seems more stupid in 2nd half, than he was fighting L. Did he become to relaxed in 6 years without L? He did't even assume that Teru might act on his own, like he did when he killed tv hosts.

nah just shitty writing
