Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu

So apparently someone translated a really small short story that happens in the first loop of arc 2, before things go to shit.

docs.google.com/document/d/18V-UKLc5Xwatt_6Xdxw-PlflK_milfvne0U5uV2wLRE/edit

This short story is not on Tenpenshuu, it was bundled with the first volume of the Dainishou manga as a bonus. The translation credit goes to someone named "WintryOne".

Also apparently the same person translated part of this Subaru X Rem Doujin, up to the first kiss, and the very last page:

imgur.com/a/uXjW4

I have no idea why they only translated those parts

That was short but nice.

Well it's just an extremely inconsequential short bundled with the manga as a bonus, nothing super important, but still good for SoL stuff.

Taking aside the downer ending that implies his first death in arc 2.

Yeah, that dead was such a downer.

Watching Re:Zero after having read Saike Mata Shite Mo - or rather, all the parts of it that have been released so far - made me really hate how terrible Subaru is at using his power.
Still a fun show, but a lot of wasted potential.

Are there any other shows with time loop powers? Bite the Dust from JoJo's, sure, but aside from that.

Read Saike Mata Shite Mo, it's great and I've never seen anyone on here talk about it.

I haven't read that one, but the idea of Re:zero is to show how the use of his power affects him, and we get to see his full experience, and not just skip to something like "he then died 100 times and he's completely jaded now, and has found the perfect plan to counter the current problem". Instead we get to see that Subaru is extremely normal of a person, and also pretty flawed, and how the deaths affect his mental health.

For example, he feels bad for the experiences lost, like that one talk he had with Rem, is just not gonna be the same, even if he recreates the scenario. He feels like it's a loss in a way, and of course the fucked up things that happen in arc 3 only reinforce that, until he stops being a shitter and makes greater use of the power to kill the whale and the cult.

He becomes much better after this too, and learns to use his power in a smarter way, but the whole point is to not allow himself to start abusing it only so he becomes jaded and stops being himself, he needs to find worth in his own life, or else he'll just stop acting like a person, and move to being "robot like", which is explored in a bad end in arc 4, where he abuses the hell out of his power to fix every little mistake, but as time goes on, he is so jaded he kills himself just to check the weather reliably for the next day.

Also, you might want to check out on missing scenes, cause the anime skipped a ton, and they cut out a major portion of the ending after he confesses to Emilia, that would have made the ending of the anime much more memorable, but would most likely generate so outrage.

...

I just checked a bit of that, and it feels like the MC is a tad souless. He completely acts like a dude who is save scumming in order to get the perfect loot, or to escort an NPC safely to it's destination. We barely get to see him sad, we know he feels bad but it feels like he's just slightly annoyed at the happenings.

>Oh no, my friend dies if i don't follow him, and if i do, because he goes to this pond, better kill myself real quick and try something slightly different
>Oh no, it happened again, woops

I mean, that's exactly what someone who has experienced the power so much would act like, or at least someone who doesn't truly care much about anything. In Re:zero, Subaru wants to avoid going that route admitedly at one point he goes despair again, and feels like his life is expandable and he should just abuse the power, and find worth in himself or else he'll stop acting like a human and just work his reasoning based off his power, plus possibly lose all joy in life since he views everything in a "oh, i can probably fix that, yeah..." kind of way.

>which is explored in a bad end in arc 4, where he abuses the hell out of his power to fix every little mistake, but as time goes on, he is so jaded he kills himself just to check the weather reliably for the next day.
That's exactly what I'd want, actually.
Obviously without losing your humanity or sense of self, but the idea of just being able to "restart" the same way you would in a video game and keep going til you get a perfect run is one of my favorite ideas in all of fiction.

I may have phrased it poorly when I called it "wasted potential". What I meant was that it wasn't what I wanted, and it felt like a waste of his powers to me. A lot of people died fighting the White Whale that could've been saved if Subaru just kept restarting until he'd gotten the entire thing on lock.
I get that the focus is on how his powers affect him rather than how he uses them, which is not what I expected, or wanted, from the show.

Didn't know about the missing scenes, though, I might check those out, thanks.

Here's the scenes in case you're still interested

First one is the first few chapters of arc 3 translated, and the second one is a loop that was cut from the LN, but happened in the WN, it has no bearing on what happens in the current LN.

>He completely acts like a dude who is save scumming in order to get the perfect loot, or to escort an NPC safely to it's destination.
This is what I really like about it. He's well aware of how absurdly powerful his ability is and is making full use of it.
SMSM is all about how the MC uses the power to essentially go through trial-and-error/process-of-elimination to figure everything out.
Another character eventually points out that he's clearly got a messed up mind at this point after his many suicides.

Actually wait, this is a more organized pastebin for the missing stuff:

Emilia-tan is my waifu

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

The page I was talking about.

It's a different look at it. In a bad end in Re:zero Subaru basically becomes this guy right here, but that's not a desirable outcome, since Subaru loses all joy in life, and his actions becomes fairly mechanical, or at least he stopped being who he was completely.

Being able to just throw away your own self worth like that is not really something you want to happen.

Every thread until Rem wakes up.

Felt like doing some typesetting since someone provided a translation for this comic, so here.

Oh, this is what happens if Rem followed him to defeat Petelgeuse huh

I think I might try finishing this one and typesetting it myself, actually. I was planning to do it before, but my motivation is sort of inconsistent. Welp, fuck it.

I felt like doing a doujin anyways.

I will love you forever if you do finish it.

You know what? Love seems to be a perfectly good reason to me. I just need to collect various fonts for the various moans, and I'll get right to it after I'm done distracting myself with everything else. If all goes well, I'll gain enough confidence to try my hand at other doujins too.

>Different fonts for different moans

I honestly just not remembered how moans have different fonts.

How come no one has uploaded the contents of the first couple of official English releases yet?

They did, you just missed it.

Check godoka

Well, I've said it before, but I'm probably a little autistic about this shit. Ridiculously trivial details can make me feel extremely uncomfortable, and I end up fucking around with it for hours even though no one is ever going to notice the difference or care.

Okay, I see.

>*4. *1,007,381 Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu

1 mil is good right?

I like how the deaths affect him. I'm sure after long enough he'd either became jaded or completely
Mentally exhausted and broken, so I think it's done well. The last couple of episodes where they introduce Betelgeuse I think are handled well. Also, doesn't the witches smell get stronger each time? Who knows if he has infinite lives.

>Also, doesn't the witches smell get stronger each time?
He gets closer to the Witch every time. This has some positive effect. He actually couldn't properly remember previous loops until he had already died a few times in the first Arc, and he was only able to see Betelgeuse's hands after dying enough times.

However, the image of Satella becomes clearer each time. In Arc 6, he actually saw her and the Bishops when he was only unconscious, when he had previously needed to die to visit that dream realm. So yes, he has something of a limit. If things progress past a certain point, he'll no longer be able to resist the Witch.

The base might increase by very little, but its strongest after he revives and wears off over time. Since he can't check it himself he doesn't have a lot of commentary on it.

Do you think he'll eventually develop the ability to smell it, if things progress far enough? I know that in Arc 6, Subaru feels that something in him wants to go down a certain path that later turns out to be loaded with insanity inducing miasma.

I don't know. You get sort of used to smells you have all the time so maybe not, even if he could detect it. Although the WC all seem to be able to, it seems almost weird that Subaru can't.

Wait so, how long does it take him in the "experiment with Echidna and die tons of times for all knowledge" path before he succumbs? Does that version of him somehow become immune?

That aspect seems to be ignored in that story. Maybe Echidna has a way to compensate for it?

Headpats for Barusu.

One thing I've noticed about the Arc 3 artist is that it seems to take him awhile to figure out how he wants to draw the characters. The way he draws Rem and Ram's hair seems like it changed from the earlier chapters, as well as some subtle qualities about their faces.

Ah, so Ram sort of tricked him into wearing it as part of a conversation between her and Rem. That's pretty great, I wish we got more of them teasing him together.

Sucks that that experience got lost the in loops

I think he might be okay with them not remembering this one.

>That blush

Filthy one night stand when?

Hopefully never. However, if you want some real despair inducing shit that has actually already happened. Turd Goblin, by virtue of eating Rem, has seen Rem naked, has actual memories of anytime she has touched herself, and also of feeling up/being felt up by Ram.

Same goes for Crusch.

Oh you motherfucker

>Ley uses those memories to further hurt Subaru and insult Rem

How soon will he be turned into flesh paste?

You just know he is going to use that. Hell, he's probably start using her voice during the fight and memories. We all know what happened with Lust when she tried copying Rem but I don't think Subaru can handle a second blow with Gluttony.

The question is. Would he have to lie or not? Could he convincingly weave in lies with real things to unhinge Subaru?

With Rem's memories and name? Most likely.

I don't even think he needs to do that. Just imagine Ley screaming in pain under Rem's voice while Subaru is attempting to kill him

That would fuck everybody up

>Hell, he's probably start using her voice during the fight and memories.
Let's remember, at least one of the Bishops of Gluttony is a shapeshifter, even if they aren't on the same level as Lust.
We'll find out in "To Zero".

Yeah but if he killed himself when that happened Subaru would have had to reset back to before "From Zero" and re-live it all over again. Does anyone really want that? Some loops should stay permanent.

I dunno about that, that's a memory you can look back upon fondly, and Subaru has looked back at it fondly. Its just a living hell to not be able to enjoy those memories with the very same people you enjoyed it with in the first place.

Please someone wipe out that turd smile from that turd goblin face.

Anyone have the link to user's translations? What is he at now? Last I read was in the low 50s I thinn

>chop off his hands
>burn out his tongue

Turd goblin is now powerless and open for torture as you please.

I would certainly not make his death a slow one.
Always wondered if a glutton would be alright with being fed his own intestines.

Is turd goblin the most hated character?

Hillarious read, thank you.

Hmmm...I don't know.
I like most characters, but turd goblin and the cat crossdresser share a spot of hatred to me.

Possibly. Roswaal has been trying pretty hard in a lot of people's minds.

I recently rewatched the series and while I am normally massively against hating characters for meta shit, I am not gonna lie, my eye twitched every time Ferris popped up on screen.

I think turd goblin, Roswaal and Heinkel and pretty much up there in the pieces of shit tier.

Why you hate Ferri? Ferri is pure and kind, you can't hate him.

You too

That other side story made me wish I could draw this

>reverse isekai Rem and Subaru watch a horror movie
>Rem yelps in terror and Subaru thinks she's going to cuddle up to him
>she somehow pulls her flail out of hammerspace and smashs the TV to bits

Now I want to know what kinds of conversations Ram and Rem have about Subaru together. Apparently in this one they had at least some kind of question about how well Fredrica's uniform would fit.

That was in the WN/LNs actually when they discussed where to get Subaru some work appropriate clothing, they recokened Frederica's stuff would fit.

They were more right than they could have known. Now that Freddie is actually around I wonder if it would come up again.

When Rem wakes up we can probably have some banter with Ram, Rem and Frederica.
That would be hilarious before despair sets in again.

Fuck, I want Rem to wake up just to see all the tearful reunions. Freddie suddenly remembering her successor while sitting in the mansion and realizing they succeeded. Pretty much everyone realizing that across wherever. Villagers, Petra, Wilhelm. Felix would remember probably only to feel like shit he didn't help Crusch.

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-11-30/top-selling-light-novels-in-japan-by-series-2016/.109355

Crusch-sama will get her memories back and Ferri will be happy again.

I hope so. Really I feel awful about Crusch, she just tries to be helpful and the best candidate and she keeps getting fucked up. Lost an arm for awhile, memories eaten, dragon AIDS. Fuck man.

>crossdresses on purpose
>touches guys inapropriately like biting their ear
>generally an eyesore
>unwilling to help his candidate oug ehen she lost her memory

But generally speaking, I just hate traps.

You're a monster

>Behead those who insult Subaru-kun

SUBARU AKBAR

Ferri is the cutest. Haters can die.

Actually, how does the timing of this work? If he wore the uniform for the rest of the day shouldn't he have gone to the village in a dress?

Any drawbros here?

This was the second day. He goes to the village on the fourth day(s) excluding the last loop where he went a day early.

He goes to the village on the 4th day
I would say its the 2nd or 3rd day

>Today was the fourth day since he was hired to work here, at the Roswaal Mansion.
He also comments on wanting to go talk to Emilia about the date at the end.

Roswaal is top tier in terms of being an irredeemable shit. Ley is the runner-up.

I mean Ferris probably killed Fourier. Then there is the fact that Ferris is a Lich and him being locked in a basement for 9 years.

Turd Goblin hasn't really fully worked his mojo yet. He's apparently a big enough shit to even try and give Betty crap about Rem. If he meets Subaru it is going to be awful.

But

>The promise of a date, and the world once again turning on him, sat unseen in his future, two days away.

That'd be cute

Huh, weird. Mistranslation on one line I'm guessing? That at least clears up where I was getting confused.

>I mean Ferris probably killed Fourier.

There's 0% chance that Ferri killed his bro.

>Then there is the fact that Ferris is a Lich

Even if that was true, why would it make you hate him?

>and him being locked in a basement for 9 years

That should make you feel bad for him

...

>why would it make you hate him?

Immortal Kings Sacrament

>feel bad for him

Should have stayed locked for another 9 more years so you wouldn't exist

>There's 0% chance

Bullshit.

Fucking bully.

>replying to catfag.
