This was some good shit.
Fucking smartass Shinkai with that 5cm/s fake-out before the end.
This was some good shit.
Fucking smartass Shinkai with that 5cm/s fake-out before the end.
Just finished watching it for the second time today.
Doesn't have the same emotional impact, but it still wasn't bad.
The insert song is still annoying, except the last one. They spent too few time showing the body swapping shenanigan. The first part was generally better than the second part.
It would've been better as a TV series. There wasn't enough time to develop the story it was telling.
Makoto Shinkai
The man has only one movie, for Christ's sake! The Place Promised in Our Early Days? The Garden of Words ? 5 Centimeters Per Second? They're the same movie! Doesn't anybody notice this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!
Children Who Chase Lost Voices was pretty different, though. And is still his best movie. And Garden of Words actually had a happy ending.
>Fucking smartass Shinkai with that 5cm/s fake-out before the end.
I was about to get so fucking mad.
Why are the official subs so garbage? I went with a person who doesn't know any moon and they had no clue what was going on during that pronoun scene near the start.
>the first half was better than the second
>He didn't nearly tear up at "I love you"
fag
There is literally no good way of translating that scene though.
>complaining that the official subs were too accurate
???
>TL note: These are ways to refer to oneself, going from feminine to masculine.
Easily understood and non-intrusive, and far more readable than the clusterfuck they went with.
The subs weren't even accurate though.
what is the short name of "kimi no na wa"?
Kinawa?
Kimino?
Kinona?
Kino
Kino means yesterday.
Usually a nick name has three syllables.
I didn't say I don't like dude, it's just like said, the second half would work better as TV series.
For example, after they should've elaborate and expand on Taki's turmoil after he realize he can't swap anymore.
The conclusion is also pretty abrupt. They pretty much implies that Mitsuba's dad know something about body swapping, maybe he even do that with his wife too, but that plot point somehow got dropped. A TV series could elaborate more.
You obviously don't understand the appeal.
Indeed, It is not bad for me.
But It is not more emotional than 5cm/s.
5cm/s can makes me nostalgic
I haven't never feel sadness like 5cm/s
>tfw it doesn't screen in your country
>tfw still waiting for the bd instead of watching the shitty camrip
Who /pure/ here?
>Fucking smartass Shinkai with that 5cm/s fake-out before the end.
That what I like best about the film. Truly genius.
I don't like 5cm/s. It's too realistic. If I wanted to experience a story about a boy who drifted apart from his adolescent sweetheart and wasted his life on regretting what could have been, I'd turn off the TV.
ME
FUCK MY SHITTY 3RD WORLD COUNTRY
Even Australia gets screenings and you guys don't. Let that sink in.
THATS IT
IM MOVING TO STRAYA LAND
This looks like that 5cm per something (or whatever) movie and I honestly don't know what people like about those. There's nothing happening and lots of still shots.
I guess they try to be 'atmospheric' but what kind of atmosphere they are going for I don't know.
>Japanese virgin trying to write a love story
Emm, no thank you.
Australia gets screenings because it's so close to Japan. The distribution company has very good ping and can send the movie over without quality loss.
prison island is right below nipland
>NuAnime
no thanks
It's the same director, but Your Name is a pretty different story to 5cm/s. It's much faster and has more focus on comedy, along with a supernatural plot.
I don't know what other movies you're comparing it to anyway, since Children Who Chase Lost Voices was also great.
>i saw the plot twist coming because of the phones they were using
lmao :(
It was nice to see Yukino-sensei make an appearance.
>You will never drink Mitsuha's fermented spit sake
>Easily understood and non-intrusive, and far more readable than the clusterfuck they went with.
What did they do?
>I (watashi)?
>I (watakushi)?
>I (boku)?
>I (ore)?
Exactly like that in the subs.
The girl gets her mind inside the guy's body, and is talking to his guy friends. She refers to herself with atashi, and they look at her in confusion, because that's clearly not how he normally refers to himself. She then recites several pronouns as they react by staring at her until she gets it right.
The subs didn't even have the brackets. And it started with "atashi feminine?"
Pretty much the worst way they could have possibly presented it.
>The subs didn't even have the brackets.
They did where I saw it. Maybe it's a different country thing.
>And it started with "atashi feminine?"
Whoops, rather, it started with "I feminine?". The rest were then as the other guy said, minus the brackets.
That's odd. I'm an Ausfag and saw it in Perth today, and there weren't any brackets. I would've thought that the same subs would've been included with every screening.
Were your subs also missing black borders around the text making it a bitch to read?
I'm a Britfag and I'm 99% sure it had brackets here. And yes, the subtitle styling was shit here too.
It should have cut down on the insert songs and ended with them both turning around on the bridge and realising they recognised eachother.
The extra screentime should have been used to expand the bodyswap montage into a proper sequence showing longer snippets of their shenanigans.
Other than that it was perfect.
I was pretty disappointed that we saw almost a full day of Mitsuha in Taki's body but almost nothing of Taki in Mitsuha's body outside of grabbing boobs.
But another important part they skipped out on was how Mitsuha convinced her dad to evacuate everyone.
Mitsuha was hot
Fanart of Taki's feet when?
She was. But Taki in Mitsuha's body was hotter.
>that part where she kicks the desk over and crosses her legs, smirking
My dick.
Only before the character development happened.
At least she grows it back, eventually.
I hoped to depict more the scene after when they were met again.
And it should show us how Mitsuha survive that disaster.
>And it should show us how Mitsuha survive that disaster.
She evacuated with everyone else, dummy.
Would you have touched yourself if you became a cute girl like her
If it showed how MItsuha had lived after the calamity, I would be happy more
It really amazes me how much more you care about the characters for a longer movie like this, compared to something like garden of words. I felt NOTHING for the characters in garden of words at all, but loved the development of Your Name's characters.
However I was really disappointed that the best bodyswap scenes were already in the trailer. That was unfortunate. I wanted to see a lot more of the bodyswapping since that's what made the movie interesting. But it was still a good film overall.
Every day.
I bet Taki itched the ditch more than a few times.
Go get stung by a spider, emufag.
Nope. It is just overmarketed as fuck.
is this pic implying her boobs are jewish?
Agreed. The visuals in this movie is exceptional but the plot is terrible.
The bodyswaps are unexplained, random and it of course only happens to the special snowflake main characters.
But other than that the first half of the movie wasn't terrible. It wasn't very interesting but there were some entertaining and funny moments.
And in the second half we get a whole ton of bullshit.
Time travel exclusively for special snowflakes. Bodyswaps suddenly stop happening. What even was the point of the first half of the film. The movie also forces encounters between the girl and the boy. The second encounter is even more ridiculous because they meet in spirit form or something. Apparently they have avatar powers as well now. The encounters are pointless to the actual conflict in the movie, it's just to force romance in the midst of all this chaos.
This movie was terrible. 3/10
>The main characters are different to everyone else
The fuck do you want? The story to be about Taki's normal buddies and Mitsuha's friend zone going about their daily lives until a meteorite hits? No shit the main characters get powers, that's why they're the main characters.
You also clearly weren't paying much attention because the body swaps stopped happening because Mitsuha died. Taki then went to the underworld to go back and save her.
While the movie does have its flaws, the bigger problem here seems to be your attention span.
kiminawa
Those are explained more in Another side:Earthbound.
But seriously, when you see Mitsuha's determined face, you know she will success.
Miyamizu bloodline has this power in purpose to save people from meteorite, which occurs every 1200 years. They even spend the time to explain 'muzubi' things.
I wasn't paying attention/10
>Those are explained more in Another side:Earthbound.
What?
The side story novel, it has 4 chapters.
Taki in Mitsuha, Yotsuha, Tessie, Mitsuha's papa.
More side material that will never ever get translated. Wonderful.
Not the case for my country.
Visual guide and Shinkai Walker are still impossible tho.
P.S. It was actually licensed by YenPress.
poetry
Is there an explanation to why neither of them know what year they are in when in the other's body? I mean they even have smartphones it should be pretty easy for them to know, especially because they are checking the calendar all the time.
Magic diary erasing magic makes them forget the year :^)
It was stated in the movie that they will feel like a dream when their body are swapped and will forget most things after they wake up. In a dream, you wouldn't pay much attention on every minor detail. And also, from the story telling aspect, they're busy living each other live and don't care much about the date at all, as you can see that Taki remembered the wrong day of week when they were going to visit God's body. This scence shows that Taki just assumed that's they are in the same year.
bluray when
Around April-June next year.
thanks user
Taki in Mitsuha:
Oppai fondling/Scare the shit out of those three jerks/Perform smooth criminal intro dance/No bra basketball->Mitsuha prepared bras for him to wear->Can't wear them properly, Sayaka has to fix it->Mitsuha has to wear them every night before she sleeps
