oh its like what would we nee to replace it. fre energy right? fuck you

That's okay I work flipping burgers...oh

solar will always be trash

wtf i hate jobs now

Solar is shit. Nuclear is the future.

But I work skilled labor at a factory...fuck!

there is nothing wrong with enslaving robots

My job as a truck driver is secure. No way will they have self driving tractor trailers in my lifetime....shit!

Isn't solar production still very wasteful and not eco friendly?
Solar works small scale but I haven't seen anything showing to be viable to be the only energy source large scale yet.
Space based solar has the potential for that and more but we don't have the infrastructure or money for it

>Be crook
>See people adopting driverless semi because greed
>stake out an expensive shipment
>Drive in front of it
>Slow down
>Steal everything like a nigger

I'm not sure why this is.

Jobs of the future right there!

Was a story a few years back, out of Germany.

Some solar company found if you take solar and spin it, you can achieve up to 37x more power.

But that story never seemed to get any attention.

Fairly certain even with self-driving trucks there will still be people sitting in the cabin. Would your really want to ship all that valuable cargo without a human attendant?

>car covered in cameras, lidar, gps, wifi, cellular
>real time reports you to police and sends your ID thanks to facial recognition
>cops come with SWAT because you have Nazi posts on Sup Forums
>you kill yourself rather than go back home with mom after jail

That's only true if you spin a web of lies with the solar power and convince people to run their lives on meme energy.

GFREAT THREAD NOT A SHILL AT ALL

>still drinking the meme energy kool aid
the future is nuclear. "renewables" come at the cost of destroying an ecosystem where the required rare earth minerals reside.
that ecosystem is Africa, ergo, more renewables equals more "refugees",

for fucks sake.

Ok. But who is washing the washing robot's solar pannel?

MY COAL MINE! :o

Well part of the reason it died off as a story was because no one tried to reproduce the claim.

I would have liked to see someone debunk it.

Here you buddy. You can always play Factorio!

The dock, which is powered by all the rest and refills the washer.

can't wait for Mars :D:DD

Elon Musk is truly a visionary

nice!

Thank you.

Large scale solar, enough to power neighborhoods, still needs to be distributed to customers via transmission centers or power plants. It doesn't put the wiremen out of work, it just changes the source.

Also, with the cost of solar in the u.s. it is nearly impossible for the average family to afford a system large enough to go "off the grid". You have to take into account the cost of the panels, battery banks and the maintenance involved. Coming out of pocket for something big enough to power the home is not doable, especially since it will cost you $40,000+ to do this, so you get solar scam companies that charge you out of the ass to lease the modules. It's just not viable.

>muh automation
everything can and will be automated, except maybe art. it doesnt matter if ur a burger flipper, an engineer, a doctor, a lawyer, or a sex worker. a robot is going to take your job. you might be safe if youre a musician or something.

artists and musicians are mostly relying on deviantart and soundcloud.
AI will surpass shadman and lil peep in less than a decade, dude.

Yeah, remember when autopilot was invented and all the pilots lost their jobs?

In due fairness the wage of a pilot has dropped to record low levels. Lot of jobs available, but the hourly rates are very poor. Your pilot may only be making $14 an hour. Scary!

>youtube.com/watch?v=fRj34o4hN4I
user, robots might play the Olympics in your life time. We discovered new methods of aping that will allow robots to sense distance better.

I guess it is because of the installment of solar panels. They are mostly installed on rooftops which cost a lot of man hours.

You call this skilled? I am happy those jobs are gone in the future no one should have to do this shit. I once worked at an assembly line and the hardest thing about the job was not to fall asleep.

Actually, you are 100% wrong. I worked at a Brand New Gas Turbine plant that was designed Purposely under the Green Initiative for when the cloudy days male solar panels useless.
Also the gas turbines usually have a boiler attached to use the heat to make steam which runs a steam turbine. Guess What? Those Green Intiative gas turbines don't have boilers and Blow that 1300 degree gas right into the atmosphere.
So yeah. Totally Green energy is anything But. Lol.

it's because they're less efficient, and require more maintenance

I'm designing automation processes, do error finding and repairs on industrial machines and instruct others how to do that, my job isn't going away anytime soon.
t. Engineer in electronics

I work at a fortune 500 telecomm. Soon we'll be rid of you.

No we won't, the liberal activist warren buffet killed our ability to sell electricity back to the grid because it affected his profits

Its not that much, here it's about 18k for panels and batteries for an averages size house. Will still take 12 years to pay for itself though.

>what are ski masks

>Solar is the future!!
>Ignore that the mining of the materials fucks up the enviroment

Why are lefties so retarded why cant we build some clean thorium reactors ?

this.
just wait until the fucker is parked/charging, and swarm it with a few masked buddies and a handful of crowbars

You really think police response times will be fast in the middle of bumfuck nowhere on the interstate 1 hour from the closest city?

You think little towns of less than 5,000 people have SWAT teams ready to go at a moment's notice? Their entire police force is probably 10 cops and only 1/3 of them are on duty at a time.

why the fuck do they have a backlight screen to display eyes?
Id fire whoever bought that piece of shit and whoever designed it

i've worked in a nuclrear power plant in France for two years
just to give your well reasoned argument a rebuttal, you are wrong

it's probably a fully functioning monitor with a 'cute' screensaver on it when it doesn't need to display anything

Not even, these things are supposed to have pretty advanced collision detection, all you'd have to do is know the truck shipping routes (they routinely travel along empty state back roads) and set up a road block a long some backwoods 2 lane road.

>>what are ski masks
Funny you say this because I've seen a facial recognition system that can see through them with the right IR cameras.

>You really think police response times will be fast in the middle of bumfuck nowhere on the interstate 1 hour from the closest city?
Yes when the police cars also become self driving.

>Renewable

There is nothing renewable about mining all the materials for solar panels and the frames/electronics/batteries necessary to use them.

It will when they figure out how to make machines that can do that.
>No wait they already have machines that do these things separately, and just need to efficiently fuse them together with any sort of self-sustaining nature or group-mentality

he's fucked too
youtube.com/watch?v=kSJVNaiBgpM

>mfw retard is ranting about the robots and beep boops ruining jobs again
>am electrician
>have already wired up all this shit before and will continue to do so

Why the fuck would you ever go with this design? By the time you need that much coal on a belt, you've had plenty of time to get power and electric mining drills.

muh NIMBY

Oh look, it's a liberal.

Yes, yes, we know already...global warming is caused by mankind. There are no limits to how many genders there are and I am a bigot if I don't memorize them all. And there is no such thing as race, except for the human race.

Thanks for your insight.

is that a dude?

t.confused footfag

...

>oil tech is for conservatives
>solar tech is for liberals
>roadless cars are for libertarians

Why does my politics dictate my technology choices?

because they're less economically viable than DMC

This was for 2016. now it's about 16k.

Its not like people are going to stop using electricity soon.

Who washes the solar panel on the solar panel washer?

Solar power has been heavily supported by liberals for decades. It will be a viable source of energy in the near future, but it wasn't 10, 20, and 30 years ago when liberals were shoveling tax-dollars into it. And guess where we get our solar panels now? FUCKING CHINA.

already on the road

Senior Reactor Operator here.

Just came by the sage ops trash thread.

>used to work at a burger place
>was wise with my money
>went to welding school
>now make 45K a year
how can someone work at a fucking burger place past there early 20's at the most

wear a flash light on your head

>be Marine Engineer on Great Lakes ship
>cheaper to replace me with Flips with crackerjack licenses than to automate

>look dad I posted 'niggers are subhuman garbage on Sup Forums, just like you used to do'
>16 (3 known and 13 unknown) 3 letter agencies teleport your child away
Yes son, just like I...

yea sure great it drives to the job awesome now wheres the guy to unload my shit?

user holy shit read the thread

>Nuclear is for National Socialists
>Large upfront investment and hard work required
>Clean, green and safe
>Tiny footprint, tell NIMBYs where they can shove it
>Leave a great piece of infrastructure for future generations to come

National Socialist as fuck. There is no possible reason to oppose new LFTR nuclear reactors, they produce a tiny amount of waste that degrades in a few hundred years and are stupidly safe.

>green energy
>replacing anything

you fell for the solar jew

I need to see those calculations because the proportion 79:1 is ludicrous.
I bet they took the number of people employed as installers plus panel manufacturers and compared it to coal plant workers. Which makes no sense, because a PV farm lasts for 25 years with minimal human care, works passively.

If solar had to employ so many people to get the same energy, the personnel costs alone would make it 79 times more costly, which IT IS NOT. Solar is the cheapest energy available in good sunny places.
electrek.co/2017/11/16/cheapest-electricity-on-the-planet-mexican-solar-power/

>solar panel covering a solar panel
For what purpose

But who cleans the solar panel on the solar powered solar panel cleaner?

> Solar is the cheapest energy available*
*after government rebates

...

There's a midget inside the red part with a bottle of windex.

>*after government rebates
only in cloudy locations.
the link i gave you says 1.77c/kWh in Mexico.
the average price of electric energy is ca. 5c/kWh in Poland, produced from local coal mines and coal power plants.
Look, if the price of solar is competitive and lower than the market alternatives, then why would a govmnt give it rebates? Makes no sense to depress it further.

nobody, because the efficiency of the cleaner is insignificant for the PV farm.

Solar will steal nuclear's lunch.
