How is it that Gohan's SSJ2 transformation is still the best transformation sequence in all of anime?

Because it had over a hundred episodes of buildup. All the others just sort of happened.
Madoka episode 12 disagrees
Because it was epic and seeing Cell being beaten up was priceless
It's been foreshadowed since he was introduced. The fight with Raditz, the time on Namek, the constant talk of Super Saiyans, Gohan's attack on 2nd form Freeza, the time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, all of it was leading up to this moment.
It's funny how the archetypical super transformation in manga and anime actually had tons of foreshadowing.
I roll my eyes when i hear people say that Goku's was better
transformation scream
>latin american/japanese original>japanese kai>italian>>>>power gap>>>>>shit>>>murican monologue and falcouner "music"
this is a fact
also cell voice
>Latin american>Japan>>>everything else>>chingchongnipon>>murican
ya know there are at least 3 different languages in 'latin america'
latin america =/= br nor french guanabana
Nice rankings weeblord, lol. The dub is better than your shitty subs and it always will be.
>calling someone on Sup Forums a weeblord.
pot meet kettle
>mfw hearing for the first time that murican dad voice coming from cell
Jeez, talk about a downgrade. Japanese DBZ voices aren't even that good for the most part and they still managed to ruin the best voice in the show in the dub.
Nostalgia. But yeah it was pretty alright.
>The dub is better than your shitty subs and it always will be.
I agree. The mexican dub that is.
I don't eat shitty burger dubs that rape the source like yours
Spanish dub is shit, the only good voices are JP and BR, the first being better than the former.
shitting of the best dub, shitting at all on the best cell voice in all dubs including the original
kys
Because z babies
Goku's technically had more.
Could never watch Dragon Ball in Japanese with English subs. The voices all sounded the same to me, unable to know which character was speaking.
You didn't rank English Kai?
>eng dub is bad

DBZ is one of the rare cases where the dub is unironically superior
I didn't like it, it was edgy and try hard, Goku's was better and had more impact because it was the first one.
It was a bad ending in general, Gohan had done nothing throughout the Android arc and Toriyama gives him le epic power up because a robot gets destroyed. In other words a copy of how Freiza got beat but with less impact.
Would have been better if they defeated Cell without the whole Super Saiyan 2 bullshit, using some sort of subterfuge.
>Toriyama gives him le epic power up
This series is filled to the brim with characters with power ups "they don't deserve".
I know you're all basically children and grew up on the dub, but you're not serious about it being better than the Japanese version, right?
I don't want to believe there are really people with taste that bad.
that one was the worst
gohan sounds like a mad middle-aged woman
Falcouner is the only reason DBZ was ever good
Godoka was crappy. Literally garbage.

haaaahahahaahahahahahaha
You were doing okay till you forgot that the Ocean dub is the definitive version of DBZ.
Sad how there was so much build-up and SSJ2 became irrelevant just like that.
I literally cried due to sheer awesomeness of this scene when I first saw it as a kid. The fact that my country's version had original music helped for sure
>spics genuinely believe their hellhole of a continent deserves to not be generalized
Agreed
the Audio Latino is the best of all
even better than the japanese version
Probably the only reason I'm glad Toriyama didn't end DBZ after Namek.
Unless he was planning for Gohan to become the first super saiyan and defeat Frieza originally before he knew he would have to continue the story?
This.
Goku's also had more impact because his transformation was triggered by his childhood friend's death.
it sounds like a bad video game generic rock music
oh my god! so much overacting in the voice, doesn't fit goku, fits more to captain planet or a power ranger
This. The scene itself was cool, but it didn't work in the context of the arc due to the aforementioned lack of focus on gohan in the arc itself.
I loved the SSJ3 one specifically because it came out of fucking nowhere. Every other transformation before (and after, I think) had a shit load of foreshadowing.
Is this scene a big deal among Japanese DB fans as well? Because in the English speaking fan base this was always hyped up as THE scene of DBZ, even before it aired in the US. But I guess that's mainly among sub fans, from what I see English dub fans generally hold Goku's SSJ3 transformation in the highest regard (because of Schemmel's scream and the music).
>mfw really great German dub has original Jap soundtrack
Best of both worlds.
>latin
wall pls go
While I agree the editing on the original Funimation dub wasn't the best, Gohan's Anger is an amazing theme.
Vegeta spent the whole Namek arc talking about Super Saiyans. It was obvious what was going to happen there, just not how.
>Goku's also had more impact because his transformation was triggered by his childhood friend's death.
I'd say it was more about him finally awakening and fulfilling an ancient alien prophecy about an all-powerful Saiyan warrior that only emerges once every thousand years (if even that). Vegeta was proven right and Goku, the last surviving Saiyan at the time, was on a level that no one else could have imagined. Where before Freeza had this solid image of an unstoppable tyrant with no equal, he now was faced with the threat that he feared for so long. Goku could now match him blow-for-blow and the intensity of the fight shot through the roof. There's also the fact that they were practically doomed to die and continued fighting on the ruined planet anyway.
I would say that the Namek/Freeza arc was hands-down the best in the series, as was Goku's transformation into a Super Saiyan. It would have been the perfect way to end the series, with the tragedy of Goku realizing ultimate power only to die anyway after defeating the enemy.
No cute girl's butt, shit transformation 0/10
I can only imagine what it was like when it first came out in the manga...you knew SSJ & SS2 were coming, but SS3 came out of fucking nowhere
What really undermined Gohan was that he had to have his ass bailed out by Goku twice AND Vegeta, and this was his big moment.
And seeing the stark change in Goku's personality right before the transformation
>I WILL MAKE YOU SUFFER
>Gohan had done nothing throughout the Android arc
That was almost certainly on purpose. We never got to see how powerful he got after 3 years of training, none the less the year in the HBTC.
So when he powered up & shocked everyone, the reactions of the other fighters were essentially there to show the full extent of his growth.
Vegeta only had to help him out because Gohan had to save his stupid ass. He would have annihilated Super Perfect Cell otherwise
Gohan fucking around and NOT annihilating Cell got Goku and Trunks killed, which is why Vegeta attacked him in the first place.
Why do you plebs always call a Japanese dub "subs"?
falconer music is full of autismal cringe and takes itself way too seriously.
Cell's German dub exists in a tier of its own.
>OH SHIT!
Dub is a dirty word 'round these parts. Someone might get triggered.
>I would say that the Namek/Freeza arc was hands-down the best in the series, as was Goku's transformation into a Super Saiyan.
I feel like Namek gets a bad rap in the US for how long it was and for Toonami's pants on head retarded handling of the series at that point
>Captain Ginyu is defeated
>Next episode is Raditz arriving on Earth
>Series airs from the beginning to Ginyu's defeat THREE FUCKING TIMES before moving on to Frieza
Yeah but it was obvious that Goku would be the one to do it.
Except that Gokus was way more epic because the entire series we watched this little retarded kid grow up and become stronger and stronger. We'd been watching this guy since he could barely crack a log, and he became the strongest being in the universe after watching his first close friend get brutally murdered. For anyone who watched the series for the first time in order, nothing could or will top it.
...
...
It didn't even get to Ginyu's defeat if I recall. It would always stop at the beginning of Goku vs Burter/Jeice and restart from ep 1. What a fucking nightmare.
Faulconer's music doesn't really take itself too seriously. It's more or less just heavily devoted to hyping up fights, and it does that very well. However, it falters in respect to quieter scenes and the fact that the dub never stops playing music for even an instant doesn't help this issue.
They know nothing about the iconic orchestrated soundtrack. This is what happens when the dubbing group decides to change a show to their own tastes instead of doing what everyone else did with Dragon Ball: Leave it the fuck alone.
Good thing they improved it then. Kikuichi's music in Z never did it for me.
THE SAIYANS ARE A TRUE WARRIOR RACE
DON'T UNDERESTIMATE US
I like how this actor tried to stay high-pitched like Masao, and they pronounce Kaio-ken correctly. They got that part right at least.
The Endless 70
Did funimation ever dub the first three movies? I've only ever heard the Ocean dub
idk for me it when he finally loses it and goes ss2 and cell is yamcha tier to him
Nigga please. NOISE NOISE NOISE isn't good music. Hell, Shuki Levy's unused catalog of rejected Power Rangers music was slightly better and I had to force myself to say that.
Ichigo's first bankai was way more hype.
I don't know about all that, but it's the best scene in all of Dragon Ball
When you say Murican, do you mean the original funimation dub or the kai dub?
Just fuck off, spic satan
It's not. The best I can remember seeing is that one girl in Dog Days season 2. If anyone has it please post it.
It's not.
