FYI Sikhism is IMO, the religion closest to Deism.

It does claim the essence of the universe is "love" though, so their conception of the universe might be more benevolent than that of a strict Deist.

I've just been looking for something to believe in recently. I was raised catholic but went through an edgy atheist teen phase. Now im slowly starting to believe again

I was raised Catholic, have been agnostic most of my life with occasional bouts of atheism, and have recently started to study theology more seriously in an attempt to regain my Christianity but I think where I've ended up is somewhere nearer deism or pantheism.

Well when you actually start looking into the workings of theology and metaphysics, you tend to find yourself close to Deism, Buddhism, Pantheism, etc. I mean you're going from a religion that believes in witchcraft and you're looking at theology using glasses made(partly) of silicon dioxide, not pixie dust.

Atheism, I find, is simply a lazy-man's way out of religious belief. It's people who see the obvious bullshit of abrahamic theism but they don't go looking for the truth, like they're just content with giving up on it all.

Does God hear our prayers or care about us at all? Is He even capable of 'caring', or is that just anthropomorphising something that isn't even close to human? Are humans important enough in the grand scheme of things to ever know God or to warrant an afterlife, or do we return to the oblivion when we die like the atheists believe? Those are the sorts of questions I'm trying to deal with now.

If you're looking for comfort, get as blanket. This is a huge problem with many religions and why they're so easily used to scheme and control and limit mankind. They offer a comfort option.

I don't know what you are doing currently. Imbue the request for communion with the features God necessitates, don't just start thinking and expecting answers. Commune with intent by first establishing what it is you wish to commune with clearly and in full detail. Make as high-fidelity of an impression in your mind as you can of a being worthy or worship, then begin to pray.

I believe in a creator. Gods are inventions of men. Archetypes and what-not. Creators usually create and move on to the next creation. Painters don't keep painting on the same canvas.
