Fighting with a friend

I told a friend of mine that I like Inuyasha and she got mad at me. She says that Inuyasha is abusive to Kagome early in the series, but that it's usually just brushed aside as a joke. I told her that Inuyasha becomes a lot nicer to her as the series goes on, but she says that's problematic in its own way - that it convinces girls that they just have to 'wait' for their boyfriend to mellow out, when in reality most abusers never become significantly better.

So what I'm asking is, do you think Inuyasha qualifies as an abusive partner, and do you think the writing invokes abuse apologism?

I'll take the bait because why not?

Kagome is way more abusive towards Inuyasha at the start than the opposite.

How so? Inuyasha tried to kill her the first time they met.

By that time they weren't anywhere near close to each other, Inuyasha just saw her as someone who was holding the jewel and wanted to take it from her. It's not fair to hold that against him if they fell in love later on, it would be an issue if he kept trying to harm her once they did.

Inuyasha is half dog, dogs sometimes bite you even if they love you.

Don't have SJWs as friends.

Kill yourself.

I like you

She's stupid. The real romantic lesson if any to learn is that jealous cucks like Naraku will do anything to ruin a relationship if someone touches their waifu.

Literally everything in the series happens because Kikyo cucked Naraku for Inuyasha.

Tell her to open a fucking book and read about old Japan. Those times were about to kill or get killed.
Kagome got it nice and she was a huge cunt in the start.

They deserve each other.

At very least anime-wise, any time Bitchboy looked at her funny, Kagome would scream "sit" until he couldn't walk. That's pretty fucking abusive.

Not to mention Inuyasha was like "Transdemon" or something. He had a big complex much like a trans person would about which side of the coin he wants to fall on.

So Kagome was in essence abusive and ignorant to a trans person/demon

You've immediately made me regret replying

Honestly, she should be more worried about how this teenage girl is triapsing around feudal Japan in a miniskirt, and how no one bats an eye. She most likely looked like a prostitue to the locals, and it's surpsing she didn't get raped.

Delete this thread.

>Inuyasha was like "Transdemon" or something
He IS half demon. There is a big difference between beliving you are a supernatural creature and actually being one.

Exactly, it's not some retarded trans issue, it's like saying you're half-latino, half-asian.

After making that comparison, I realize I've literally never seen that before. I wonder if they'd be cute.

I hit on one at a restaurant that I worked at. She was a cutie but was studying to go to Russia.

It's not really an abusive partner if it's not really partner. Inuyasha also only ever calls her stupid, never physically abuses her and almost always defends her, putting his life at risk.

I think she's just projecting. There were plenty of moments that put Kagome firmly in control and she often abused Inuyasha right back, physically too. Not only hitting, but using the prayer beads. She didn't view him as something that needed to be 'fixed', she viewed him as a person with issues that he needed to work out and that she needed to work out her own feelings. Sure they sometimes conflicted and she hated that she was jealous of Kikyou even though she would deny that her and Inuyasha had anything.

Their relationship was the best part of Inuyasha. It actually evolves dynamically through the series and every moment means something for the cast. Sure the battles often sucked, sure the villian got away with asspull after asspull. I was just in it to see the relationships. The human factor of the series.

It really highlighted that no one is perfect, we all have issues, some just deal with it better then others.

They often did mention that Kagome's attire is strange, but it never really went anywhere. I imagine if that situation did exist, then yeah she would be thought of as a prostitute. But then she's traveling with a monk, a fox demon, a half dog demon, a demon hunter.

Trying to make sense of the group at that point is probably more then a poor farmer wishes and so they just ignore the absurdity of it all.

I always think of if the roles were reversed when people are like that. Like what if a male told the woman to sit any time he was mad or annoyed with her. It would probably be seen as worse than the vice versa, but if it is then that would show a bias.

man R63 Inuyasha is the best.
Damn shame the series came out when it did otherwise we may have had more high quality content than what we did get.
