ITT: Characters that sounded better Dubbed

Find A Flaw

>dubfag thread

Found the flaw.

He was such a neat character. Honestly one of the best parts of brotherhood. Ashame he didn't get more development

>Find A Flaw
King big dick has no flaws.

>Subfags

...

indeed also why didn't he fight roy that would of been great

If we set aside the inherent flaws of dubbing, FMA is one of those shows with the potential for a decent dub simply because the setting is western based. Unfortunately, the translation tried to stay "faithful" to the source material and made the entire thing worse. It doesn't matter if he "sounds" better when the dialogue seems like it's written by a 5th grader.

I'll never understand how you dubfags and LNfags put up with such shitty translations and writing.

i dont always watch anime to be absolutely invested in the story and show 100% all the time. sometimes i just listen to it as background or watch it while im doing something else. For those times, subs are a fucking nightmare when you literally have no idea what the hell is anyone saying if you arent watching the bottom of the screen at all times.

i fucking hate shitty translations and bad dubbing, it makes shows unbearable to watch, but if a dub can be better than the sub, then i will go dub all the way

Why DO we?

What exactly is stopping someone from being more ambitious with anime distribution in the west beyond streaming and Toonami? What's stopping someone from stepping up to the plate, and challenging Funi's monopoly on localization?

Films are dubbed in other languages all the time, so why is that English dubbed anime/Jap games are the only ones with the specific stigma of being "solid" at best?

There are none. King Bradley is perfect.

Most badass old man character there is next to Isaac Netero.

what's there to be developed since he only exists to be Father's slave.

Every character voiced by Steve Blum.

>tfw he cut the tank's missle in half

I first watched Code Geass dubbed. Some of the dub voices suck but Lelouchs voice is fantastic. I love Johnny Yong Bosch.

Foreign films are noticeably more mainstream than japanese videogames and anime which target mostly a niche nerd fanbase. With the exception of few titles like final fantasy and even those are less mainstream than western videogames.
If it's niche there's less money, if there's less money there's less talent. Meanwhile western products hog up all the good people.
People that serve a niche fanbase either do it for passion or because they are 2nd-3rd rate. And passion is an unlikely thing when it comes to voicing videogames/cartoons.

Bosch has very little range but there's a reason why he's cast in everything. The fucker learned to scream like no one's business. He's come a long way since Vash, which I still find to be an endearing performance. Bosch was a bad, inexperienced actor but there was an earnestness and love for the role.

I've never watched a dub better than the original but there are dubs that act as suitable ways to experience the show without missing too much.

Wait never mind I just remembered Baccano exist, and while some performance were a bit lacking in the dub, I cannot think of it without the English cast so I guess I'm a huge fag.

>tfw
>Sup Forums shit

Stop please. This is Sup Forums. Not /r9k/. Not Sup Forums.

I think he nailed the voice change between the way he talks to his friends aka "Lelouch", and the way he talks when he's Zero. And yeah, his screams are really good, don't sound stupid and forced, but real. Most English VAs suck at it.

Objectively speaking

Forgot pic

>why is that English dubbed anime/Jap games are the only ones with the specific stigma
They're not you braindead dubfag piece of shit.

The entire cast of Baccano with the exception of Jacuzzi.

But even that crybaby grew on me by the end.

that was a mistake, right?

Goku.
/thread

Panty and Stocking

The entire cast of Dragonball Z with the exception of Frieza.

...

Pic related and mostly everyone in FMP

I liked the dub for Hyperdimension Neptunia game and anime and thought they did the best they could translating the absurd amount of culturally specific memes

ha, I don't know how you could like it. And this is coming from someone who saw the anime first before playing the games. Just saying that before anyone acuses me of being some kind of fanboy.

The voices all sound awkward and miscast. As in, the girls sound too old, or like their VAs are hardly trying. Other times, it seems like the director doesn't know what the fuck he/she is doing and so you end up with the wrong emotions being applied in different lines.

*Kai

with Z, Chris Sabat himself admitted that early on they "more or less didn't know" what they were doing

Pretty much the entire cast

even though i liked the colombian dub overall, that father voice was shit

Dubbed Mafuyu was great

except for Domon unfortunately

goku
BR dub

you take that back

I agree that tomokazu seki is great, but dub Domon was GOAT.
