Based Roshi is stronger than Yamcha. They brought Roshi to fight Frieza's soldiers but Tien considered Yamcha to be "too weak" to make a difference.

Anyway, hope we get to see some of the other fighters actually do something instead of just Vegeta+Goku. Definitely excited to see the Android twins, Buu and Piccolo fight again. However, I am most excited to see Gohan get BTFO all over again. Already prepping a new folder for the salt mine.

Roshi is one of the biggest example of fanservice done wrong in this franchise. It makes no fucking sense at all that he keeps tagging along in Return of F and Super. He is weaker than Chaozu.

Roshi is a gag character now. According to Toriyama he's actually 'supa stronk' but he's just lazy, if he tries he's 'da stronkest'.

The arc is called Space Survival arc? or something. Maybe the upcoming tourney has a different format instead of 1 vs 1, you have to use your wits more which makes it more even for the less powerful fighters. Good compromise I'd say.

Vegeta fought Beerus for a good 30 seconds as SSJ2. Goku couldn't even touch him as SSJ3.

Goku only ever "passes" Vegeta in strength through bullshit, like becoming SSJG with everyone else's help. Hell, he even gets the spotlight after getting totally outclassed by Vegeta and Trunks both against Black, like the producers are trying to just make him look good.

That's always been the case in a general sense. Scale is nonexistent, though. Sometimes he looks almost as tall as Goku in scenes and pages.

That's because Goku makes more money than Vegeta and Trunks.
Story, consistency, and to all it pertains, that's fine.
Money is the end-game.
Goku is the series' prime money-maker by far. Don't be startled he leaps ahead despite plot's ration and reason every now and then.

I think he knows already. From an interview in one of the full color volumes, it says he met with Krillin and 18 at least once.

Even better- what if the tournament isn't a typical 1 on 1 tournament- what if it's called "survival" because it's a team tournament? Like drop everyone on a planet/series of planets and you fight as a team against the other teams and last ones alive win.
That would give the whole cast chances to fight, like if the teams got split up or lost, and let them face comparable opponents from other universes without having to say "why didn't Goku just fight them?" or just having EVERYONE job until Goku and Veggie go blue and save the day.
