I'm not sure where you slot in to the income bracket wherever you are. But from my experiences, I can tell you that being in the top rungs of that ladder changes your the quality of your life significantly.
When I socialize with people who make say, 50% of what I do, they often speak of their economic woes. They cannot afford a new car, a house, have any savings or accumulate any wealth. I have none of those issues. Now, there are lots of people who make higher incomes than me, but 90% of people do not. So it's very easy for these lower income men to grasp at this concept of MGTOW, but the reality is that economically they cannot go their own way. Going your own way requires a higher level of income than the regional average. Once someone has enough money that they don't have to worry finances and their future, it brings them level of freedom not shared by those who do have to worry.
Economics are huge. Simply saying that one is MGTOW, then dropping the world to go live as a hermit in some Tiny House you pull around town is just ridiculous. If you make enough money, you can have a pretty stable and enjoyable lifestyle. But too many MGTOW advocates think that are hacking the system because they've given up on enjoyable things in life. So, the reality from what I see is these types don't have the economic status to go their own way, and are choosing to live a lesser quality of life simply because "I'm MGTOW"

Yes, but a man with money can do the same. Having that money lets him partake in the things he enjoys most. A wife and children limit him financially and hinder his free time. As I said, once you have that economic situation where you aren't worried about money, you have a lot of freedom to enjoy life. You can really go your own way. If you want to learn how to mountain climb, fly an airplane or build a hot rod, you can do that. But you're gonna need the cash.
Making less money? That means you have to sacrifice certain enjoyable things in order to be comfortable. Maybe its owning a house, having nice things, or savings as a whole. You will always have the desire to do something, but never the economic means to do it.
Also, we will all get old and die. And the difference between dying with money and without money are huge. Go in to an elder care institution for the destitute and see for yourself the living misery that exists in there. To avoid this, one needs money. If you want to save enough money to do that, the reality is that you're going to be lowering your standard of living in order to avoid it.
So again, to truly go your own way? You need to be making a good salary and able to actually go your own way. You need to be in at least the top 20, if not top 10% of your region.
Yes I have already agreed, doing those sorts of things require money. But MGTOW isn't about building a hot rod or mountain climbing, it's fundamentally about the rejection of the financial and legal shackles that are marriage and fatherhood.
That's why it's not men climbing mountains or men building hot rods, what you do with your spare time once you've rejected the social norms of marriage and fatherhood is completely up to you. Some men just want a small plot of land somewhere and go and live off the land and grow their own food and generally keep off the grid and I don't judge that to be any less going their own way than somoene who wants to earn some good scratch and go and go do expensive things.
I think you've become caught up in the rat race too much and lost focus on what it really means to go your own way. Not all men aspire to be rich, not all fun things are expensive, I don't blame men who have a high IQ to chase positions of wealth but at the same time I don't condemn men who aren't as capable just because of their lot in life.
