And katanas aren't made for full force fucking clashing, if you do that you're using the weapon wrong. It's like saying bolt-action rifles suck because you can't use them properly. If used like European swords, they are inferior to them. I'm sure they would get rely by plate armor too because they came from a place that primarily used lacquer armor.
