Why does noone ever use high mass scatter shots against mechs?
Like a gauss shotgun with 1kg balls.

Why don't they just put Mecha weapons on cheap mobile platforms?

Laser-class
The BETA would just zerg-rush over them.

>Laser-class
Fly low

>The BETA would just zerg-rush over them.
Make faster platforms

Why don't we just use Agent Orange on the Shire.

why don't they just coat planes with mirrors

High-speed, highly maneuverable gunships you say?

Is there any mecha show that can justified the use of giant robots?

SDF Macross, maybe. Fighter jets/ships that transformed into mecha to fight giant space aliens.

Is "space wannabe aristocrats making a sport out of annihilating civilians" a good justification?

Five star stories justified them by saying the mecha form for their technology was a limiter. That battles would be more devastating if their technology didn't have a humanoid form.

Getter Robo.

Look at how impractical they are, even Slav tanks can destroy them.

g gundam had them since it was more of a sport than a weapon.

Metal gear wanted nukes that could walk on all terrain.

gurren lagann mech ran off manly spirit so looking cool also made them run.

The only way to fight the mechanical beasts from Doctor Hell were giant robots.

why don't they just use flatbed mitsubishi fusos with 40mm bofors bolted to the back?

Usually they run out of ammo, those awkward reloading gaps or just the plain overwhelming swarm that puts the need to get into melee. They also need to be able to attack from all directions including directly below them specially when raiding Hives.

For the cost of a functional mech they could just buy more ammo and guns, and coordinate reloading, or they could stay mobile with lighter armored vehicles and use hit and run tactics, or they could build tanks with 360 swiveling turrents or multiple turrets to target two directions at once. If they need to attack hives they can just use bunker busters, why do they need to enter them? They don't really need to sweep them until they drop a few nukes down the damn holes first if its that dangerous.
Honestly that universe tries way to hard to justify itself, and people try way to hard defend it.

>buy more ammo and guns
It's not about resources, it's the loadout. You can't carry all of that. They did have orbital supply drops they can request on the field.

>lighter armor / hit and run
they already do that
problem is, when inside the hive, the BETA can just dig around your current tunnel and swarm you anyway.

>bunker busters and nukes
they also tried that

muvluv.wikia.com/wiki/JFK_Hive_Operation#Phase_3:_The_Bomb

They need to destroy the Hive core to stop the
BETA in that region completely.

TSFs are anti-BETA weapons, though.
And just because tanks can hit them doesn't mean tanks>mechs in their roles. It's like saying because a soldier with an RPG can destroy a tank, that means every soldier with RPGs can replace tanks.

>It's not about resources, it's the loadout. You can't carry all of that.
you don't carry it, its called a supply line. every military in world knows what a supply line is except muvluv.

>they already do that
problem is, when inside the hive, the BETA can just dig around your current tunnel and swarm you anyway.
You make it sound like modern wars aren't conducted with mobile units that are constantly repositioning and that the BETA have discovered a brand new tactic.

>Phase 3
See this is what always really gets me going about muvluv. We've known how to seige castles since the goddamn middle ages. You lock them in their own walls. Yeah they tunnel, but you know we have ways to see seismic activity right? No one cares about a beta that can't leave the nest, not to the degree that they need giant robots anyways.

Did you read the VN?

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Realistically, ignoring the laws of physics is the only way.

Yeah, but in the end it's just a story. You try and add real world physics to it and all the still justifications fall away. There is nothing that real world military tactics and weapon can't do that requires a mech. I mean for god's sake the Lazer class alone uses so much energy to do what the VN says it does that each unit has makes the series fall apart.

I'm not convinced you actually read the VN. All your complaints were all discussed in the story. It's too much of a hassle to explain each and everything from someone who has no intention of backing down.

OK, Im sorry I ruined your fantasy by bringing up the eagles.

>B-but the VN said so

>lying on the internet
>2017 minus 1

Typical retarded burgerclapper.

Considering the whole point of muv luv is for mc-kun to become a most honorable samurai of the supreme Japanese ideal, he has to have a humanoid vehicle because helicopters are the inventions of gaijin Devils with no sense of honor or aesthetic plus helicopters have no arms or hands and cannot weird most honorable katanas, the most powerful weapon ever created by mankind

>They need to destroy the Hive core

Nuke the core!

Just bring in the automatons from Gundam 00 and IBO.
