Rush is hipster now?

“Hipster” is a term co-opted for use as a meaningless pejorative in order to vaguely call someone else’s authenticity into question and, by extension, claim authenticity for yourself.

It serves no conversational function and imparts no information, save for indicating the opinions and preferences of the speaker.

Meanwhile, a market myth has sprung up around the term, as well as a cultural bogeyman consisting of elusive white 20-somethings who wear certain clothes (but no one will agree on what), listen to certain music (no one can agree on this either), and act a certain way (you’ve probably sensed the pattern on your own).

You can’t define what “that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle” actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That’s because you don’t use “hipster” to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.

The twist, of course, is that if it weren’t for your own insecurities, nothing that a “hipster” could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - “Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I’m certainly not like those filthy hipsters!” - so you project those feelings.

Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them.

Who are you quoting?

Hey mister want to drink some sake with me?

>The most famous prog rock band
>hipster
It's not hipster music, it's music for basement dwelling nerds with more R.A. Salvatore books than friends. Like all prog rock.

nice

There needs to be more art of anime girls holding albums.

Yea

>all this wank rock
>not even KC or Soft Machine
>obviously no hope for RIO or Kraut
Well, they are children anyway.

>guitar music

You're not going to lure many middle aged men into your van with The Man-Machine.

>threads go from joking about little girls being into classic radio rock hits to autists trying to prove how obscure and superior their tastes in 70s and 80s rock

Good job retards

Hey, I've gotten introduced to some really good music and mountains of loli ass from these things so I can't complain.
I still think The Eagles is one of the best classic rock bands ever though, popularity isn't indicative of quality.

Jokes on you I live in a fucking tundra and have never seen a van or Joy Division album ever.

>onii chan, there's a van full of rock and metal records after this dark alley. Follow me!

>The Other
>>>/liberalarts/

>joking about little girls being into classic radio rock hits
That's not the joke though

In a race to the bottom, Sup Forums and Sup Forums are always top 5 contenders.

delet this at ONCE

Mana is pure, that picture is wrong

"Yes, good goy. Follow the loli into that totally safe dark alley"

Forgot the pic.

see, the thing with classic bands and why they're so high regarded to this day isn't because they've made great songs, but because the industry at the time was really limited and only a handful of bands could make it out of the underground, and even less could survive the test of time. But with the internet being the thing it is now, you have a constant flow of bands that are the same, and even higher, level of those bands in the past, then again nostalgia is still a big factor. You say the music back in the day was better because you grew up with it and now that you're older and see all this new bands that make a certain type of genre or have a certain estethic that wasn't really a thing in the past makes you think they're shit and will never be as good as the old times. This has been going on since the day music was invented

>tfw no loli to listen concerto moon with her

I thought this lolivan shit was just a meme before today. Now I know better.

>walking home from classes, got out early because professor is ready to go on a trip or whatever
>just minding my own business like usual, listening to Pink Floyd on my way to the dorm
>see a little girl standing by a tree planted next to the road
>avert my eyes because I don't want to have to deal with her
>walk next to her, looking at my phone
>"Hey, Mister!" she shouts, I hear her
>pretend I don't, but she walks up to me
>"HEY! MISTER!" she yells
>I look up and say "no, sorry, I need to be somewhere" but I can tell my voice is shaking
>"Mister I've got some beer in my van, and lots of cool rock CDs" she says in a cool voice
>"W-what kind of rock CDs...?" I ask, trying to hide my terror
>"A little bit of Zeppelin, some real good stuff. We even have Zepplin, I heard your earbuds you know..." she says in the same cool and even tone
>"You guys got Zeppelin in there...? Ah, no, sorry, I gotta get home!" I reply, very scared now
>"Mister, we even have free beer, the good stuff you know, none of that pisswater shit like Bud light."
>"R-really? I ask, completely unsure of what to do
>"Yeah, really mister, now please come with me!" She says in a more excited tone
>I put my phone away and start to follow her when I spot another loli in the front seat. She's staring at me and just at that moment I hear a slight yelp from the van. Like a man bound and gagged with a pair of little kids' panties
>I immediately begin to run away, racing not even looking where I'm going
>The little girl is screaming at me to come back or she's going to hurt me and my whole family
>The last thing I hear before she stops chasing me is "I will get you for this, you will never be safe again!"

I'm so scared that I'm shaking Sup Forums, what the fuck should I do? I'm locked in my house but every time I hear a car go by I shit my pants.

Its fine user, we are all absolutely and totally 18+ men on here and not 14< little girls for sure, we arent tracing your ip at the moment either, hahaha!
lets just see how smart this fucker thinks he is in a minute or two

tbf most of now classic artists had pretty humble career beginnings and shared their scenes, labels and audience with a lot of other artists. I think it's wrong to undermine the quality of their music simply because of their current classic status. It took a couple years for U2, Bowie and PF to reach stardom.
