I miss them. This was an absolute masterpiece.
I miss them
It was not, i wish it was though, amazing premise and character designs.
More like mediocre and forgettable.
I only remember the smoking episode.
I wanna do lewd stuff to best girl.
The first episode is good. The smoking episode is memorable for how insane it is. The writer was a hack for only being able to come up with "BUT THERE IS A BIGGER HIDDEN EVIL" for why our "villains" were sympathetic.
Felt like it was pretty much going for Disgaea meets Yatterman.
But no, we gotta make our villain sympathetic in the most bland, nonsensical, and random way possible. Only never follow up on any of them or give them any real synergy.
"BUT THERE IS A BIGGER HIDDEN EVIL" for why our "villains" were sympathetic.
Triggers me every time I think about it.
Another proof that LOLSORUNDUMB genre is stillborn and doomed to failure.
Thought with Flip Floppers flopping, we dont need older show to remind us.
But it really wasn't that at all
It did literally the opposite of that.
It was oddly pretentious and dramatic, the completely opposite mood to what all of the design and opening episode was.
It was. Because nor story nor characters were well though out. It was all style and creators adding "cool" stuff, just to end up with inconsequent mess of storytelling that became boring and tedious despite all the coold stuff.
There are good examples - like FLCL, Abenobashi. And then theres Zvesda, Rolling Girls, Flip Floppers etc.
The key is either make a story actually deep (FLCL.. well. "deep" as it was not actually random) or actually fun (Abenobashi). However most such shows fail at both.
Not well thought out and all style = Intenitonally random and comedic
The fuck are you talking about?
No seriously, what the royal fuck are you talking about? The smoking episode and the first one are the only ones with that kind of tone.
Recent good example would be Kyousogiga - its both very well written, "deep", and very fun.
Less successful example would be Yatterman of the Night, that had very good start but went to shit. Another would be Punchline and Gatchaman that while beind mediocre is actually a decent eample. And example of failurs one doesnt have to look far as we have one this season with Flip Flappers.
Zvezda had potential, but failed to live up to it in every aspect.
When you see new "original" show app poster with "cool" character design and over the top trailer - chances are, it`ll be shit, because creators try to compensate for lack of substance with "originality" and style.
Kyousougiga was a disaster. Should have stayed an ONA series.
ADHD fag opinion discarded.
So you did enjoy the shitty plot, half assed world building, sloppy recycle of ONA material, neutered direction, lack of animation and the infamous infodump walk of QUALITY of the TV series?
Good for you then.
The only people prefering ONAs are those who only watched it for "lolrandumb" animations and action. TV meanwhile had actual storytelling and great direction, making a comprehensible show, emotional, consequent and with proper resolution.
Anyone who considers ONAs anything than teasers/pvs for actual story, is clearly ADHD who coudnt keep up with it.
Nothing good about this show except character designs and REEEEE
The most LOLSORUNDUMB thing here is this list of shows you mentioned.
Also posting best boy.
The show was great up until the "actual story" happened in the last few episodes, which was garbage.
yeah it's a masterpiece
the designs that is
also didn't know the summoner nights on PSP has english patch
Ugh I wish this was good characters were so good
Yeah, like that 5 minutes still image with the head priest dumping the entire plot while walking slowly from one side to the other.
Such masterful direction and storytelling.
What is this exactly if you don't mind me asking?
I do mind.
well I'm sorry I can't reverse search screenshots and nobody has mentioned the name.
You've actually done a good job completely avoiding naming the series but you do talk about a lot of other series that are like this one.
episode 1 gave me impression this gonna be silly evil organization shenanigans the anime
what a fucking letdown
right click + "search google for this image"
bracing for excuses
I'm sorry I can't reverse search screenshots
You should be.
and nobody has mentioned the name
Yes, they did.
Sekai Seifuku: Bouryaku no Zvezda. Now go watch it and be slightly disappointed.
Oh user, you're such a contrarian. Thanks for contributing to the declining quality of this board by enabling idiots.
You mean just getting them to shut the fuck up?
The only thing you got him to do is ask for sauce next time too instead of learning to find it on his own.
All that build up between MC and hero girl
Suddenly last episode
I still mad.
those people never learn dude. or Sup Forums will turn into /ic/
odd choice of comparison
But that's not Renge
White Robin is for tentacle rape, not romantic development
artbook thread turns into spoonfeeding general
Loli in highheels
A waste of everything
I would very much like for the posting of kate cutes to begin
This, we all knew there was no way of them being an actual evil organization, and as we feared, they weren't
I would blame Madoka for starting the trend of "anime that is 75% arthouse eyecandy that hints at a mystery with the last 25% suddenly explaining everything".
Zvezda sounds wonderful in concept: an evil crime syndicate run by a semi-retarded semi-genius loli. Should have been a comedy centering around them trying to be evil but accidentally being good instead of just straight up being good anyways.
Is this Kate cute enough?
annoying characters and over sexuality that blocks out any serious tones the plot could have had
The smoking episode made me genuinely mad.
Do you smoke per chance
out out out
No but it was just so stupid and childish.
Who is honestly stupid enough to believe this? Also smoking kicks ass, fuck that faggot loli.
The real problem is everyone who goes for that angle copies it, but even Madoka didn't do it particularly well so everyone's copying shit.
Funneling acid into your rectum also kicks ass
It made a lot of people genuinely mad. What a week that was.
It's not any particular show but that production budgets have shrunk where almost everything is 1-cour only. Used to be if you had a clever unique concept like a Yuasa or Ikuhara you could get the funding to make Penguindrum and Kaiba in 2-cours. But disc sales are falling apart and there's only money in games and merch that an artbook title won't be able to sell. So you have to cram Yurikuma into a 1-cour disaster or go begging on Kickstarter for funding.
Zvezda could've been great as a 2-cour show that explored the contradictions between what adults want out of society versus what children want and what would happen if a child were to take over. But with the limited budget it could only cover half of it and they couldn't find a compromise on what parts should be left out to make it fit.
Mostly, the ending never resolved the questions raised at the beginning. In particular, how did Kate actually take over the world, or did that really happen and wasn't just a fantasy or metaphor?
This kind of turned into a blog. Sorry.
Remember when we saw her NAKED?
Studios need to be more like SHAFT and old-Gainax where they hide serious themes behind generic anime shit like mecha and cute girls that'll guarantee merch sales.
It's impossible to get full funding for experimental arthouse shows, so they might as well not bother if they won't be able to get the full point across anyways. Or make an LN based on the script first to see if there's an audience so that there's less risk involved.
Used to be if you had a clever unique concept like a Yuasa or Ikuhara you could get the funding to make Penguindrum and Kaiba in 2-cours.
Yuasa has never directed a 2 cour show. I've always assumed Ikuhara got that privilege because he was a fucking legend making a glorious return after directing multiple major successes in the 90s. Artsy shows have always been a tough sell, no matter the era. It's pretty rare to see them get 2 cours without any special circumstances.
Sup Forums hates Sekai Seifuku now
What happened? I remember everyone liked it while it was airing.
Dropped it first episode cause I could see the trash dump a mile away.
The smoking episode is memorable for how insane it is.
for how shit it was and that most people dropped it there
It will often seem like a show is critically acclaimed as it's airing because people just enjoy talking about how retarded the plot is. There's no way you could look back at Zvezda and say "yeah that was a really good anime!"
Smoking is ok.
premise is about conquering the world
the whole fucking series litterally only takes place in the same town, and most of it is a SoL
Oh, and the evil organization is actually just a bunch of retarded chuunis.
It wasn't even funny. All it was was a waste of good design and premise.
So much potential down the drain. Kate is still one of the cutest/sexiest lolis ever.
This nazi totenkopf caught my eye
I do it every day user
watched it for the loli in heels.
Are you autistic? The entire point was that they were goofy. It wasn't a wasted premise becuase that WAS the premise
magic soap, it never banishes from her tits.
Pro tip. If the smoking episode actually makes you mad it's because the idea of people's bad life choices being criticized is extremely distressing to you because you know that yours are also shit, and you're just replacing smoking with whatever you are personally ashamed of. Literal textbook projection.
The threads when smoking episode aired were hilarious, the butthurt smokers were incredibly pissed.
Don't all the smokers turn into zombies and get genocided at the end?
If the point was to be goofy, they had a lot of potential to work with. Half of the time Zvezda's antics are completely nonsensical and have little to nothing to do with a bunch of idiots trying to conquer the world. It was very much a wasted premise because the show had such awful writing and direction.
when I was 10, me, my brother and 2 friends, used to go on a smoking spree in the span of 3 weeks. we bought like 6 box a day. and then we stopped. never again.
The nonsensical antics are the point
