Japanese Manga “Rurouni Kenshin” Creator Busted in Child Porn Scandal Rocking Asia
>It's been a long debate about the culture of Japanese comics and their obsession with both “Loli” and even some provocative “Manga” anime styles, as to whether they are considered a form of child pornography or produce some sort of attention that draws in pedophiles.
>Critics of such series argue that they're both degenerate and obsessive with sexual undertones, while fans argue that they are classic entertainment with extensive storylines.
>Now, one of the biggest names in Asian anime, Japanese “Rurouni Kenshin” creator Nobuhiro Watsuki, has been arrested on possession of child pornography charges, only further underscoring those stereotypes.
>Manga-ka Nobuhiro Watsuki, the 47-year-old superstar creator of the series, was taken into custody by Tokyo Police after child pornography was found inside of his office on a DVD.
>His home was also searched thereafter where more child pornography was allegedly found, according toVariety.
>As a response to the arrest multiple television stations which had agreements with Watsuki, including satellite TV station NECO has canceled a back-to-back triple screening it had planned for Saturdays.
>“I liked girls from the upper grades of elementary school to around the second year of junior high school," Watsuki reportedly told authorities.
>If convicted, the child pornography charges in Japan carry up to a one-year prison sentence and fines of up to 1 million yen ($8,908 in United States currency).
>This is equivalent to Harvey Weinstein being labeled as a predator in Hollywood, being a mega-star in Asia to collapse under these allegations and actually face charges, also being the first of it's kind to rock the Asian film industry.
