Why is academia so overwhelmingly left wing? Even in high levels of academia, like law school and business school, there's still an emphasis on left-wing principles.
When did this start and why is it a thing?

I'm really feeling #5. There's no more Anglo Canadian identity anymore, and even being proud to be English Canadian makes you a colonialist which is now bad
It's what you get with females in charge of early education.
1960s during the Vietnam war protests, the commies were demanding 'free speech' for communist POV professors.
Granddad said if you let the commies in, they'll take over the Universities, push out all the based professors, and end free speech.
Granddad was right.
>educated people are leftist
>right wingers are dumb rural hicks that only finished high school
Rally make me thonk
I'm pretty far right, but everybody at my school is far left, it's crazy
A lawyer wants leftist principals
It means customer retention
If they have a conservative judge/law makers they have to wait for longer sentences for those repeat customers
It's twofold
>1960's
>most of the population protests for various civil rights, anti-war stuff, general assfuckery on drugs
>the moderates go back to their jobs
>the extremists infiltrate the education system and continue to disseminate half-truths to radicalize the youth
and
>get big fat research grants from the government every so often
Frankfurt School Jews and subversive Communists from Russia doing the same shit during the Cold War.
Universities are compromised.
>why are educated people so liberal?
because you uneducated retards are on the wrong side of history.
>group of determined Germans
>He bought into their lies
And it only cost you a lifetime of debt.
>law
>SJWs
>my criminal justice textbooks literally had pages about Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin that explained why they were in the wrong
They purged their ideological opponents. It's how they operate. They are not amenable to reason or logic. They are a dangerous virus.
Draft dodging during Vietnam (going to grad school gave you an out)
It attracts intelligent people who are afraid of real world risk, who think in terms of ideal justice instead of what's possible vs impossible, profitable vs disadvantageous. Smart people who can tolerate risk to into business, law, finance etc. Smart people who can't go to academia.
Source I'm a grad student in a humanities department. Full of delusional and fearful people who are then indoctrinated by teachers who idealized anti Vietnam War movement, civil rights, feminist movement, etc. They don't make a lot of money so they award themselves virtue points in compensation.
In law school here it's all about social justice, it's annoying as fuck
my international law exam in law school is about trump pulling out of the united nations
to be fair, it's not completely impossible lol
>high levels of academia, like law school and business school
Those are not high level. I'm graduating from electrical engineering in a few weeks, and nearly everyone is un-brainwashed because we've had to learn to think for ourselves using logic.
>Why is academia
Academia implies teaching. They do not teach, they indoctrinate.
There are a lot of sjws in law now. It's not as bad as English but it's headed in that direction. It depends on your department. Unfortunately some top programs are drifting left and others will follow suit since they set the standard.
...
They got control for now. For now meaning around 30-40 years in the last 40000 or so.
>Those are not high level
lel
This cartoon just gave me an idea.
We should pay a bunch of homeless people to show up at the next huge protest and demand they all give them their phones and cameras and shit.
It'd be glorious.
My STEM department is pretty right-wing, even the redditors are.
They're leftist if you're taking art majors that would put you in debt.
It's not about higher vs lower levels, or even just STEM vs humanities/social science, though I agree emphasis on logic and empirical observation helps.
idk about business school but law school is pretty hard desu
So did he give the homeless man the ipad?
For example, philosophy and, to a degree, math are the disciplines that deal with pure logic. But this hasn't made either impervious to sjw BS. It's made them resistant, but not impervious.
Econ and engineering are faring better, but not because they are more logical. It's because they attract young, ambitious, men who are hard nosed realists motivated to make their way in the world.
And is based on logical and analytical thinking. But those super duper smart engineers can do math, so they are superior
This and Jews are the real answer. Don't forget the sad tale of the last 17 years either.
>9/11 happens
>Bush drags USA into a shity war
>Thousands of our boys die
>Thousands of sandniggers die for no reason
>8 years of this
>People get tired of post 9/11 nationalism
>Elect the opposite of Bush
>King Nigger does the same things but dresses it in progressivism
>Progressives get super empowered and sperg out
>Colleges and lazy millennials go full Marxist
>Backlash happens and Trump gets elected
>Marxists don't back down
>Global fascism within 50 years now
yea. only undergrad stem majors really think like that tho in my experience
Because departments are filled with leftists who hire leftists.
The Marxist trend in academia goes way back to ww2. Leftist academics fled Europe and came here. They were vindicated after defeat of Nazism, and then recruited many followers through the Vietnam anti war movement.
>When did this start and why is it a thing?
The "Free Speech Movement" of the 1960's enabled Leftists/Progressives/communists to get a foot in the door, and they eventually pushed out conservative views. Much like the Jews eventually were able to weasel their way back into England and other countries. Once they're in, you've got an existential problem.
>People who receive government funding tend to advocate government funding.
What a surprise.
US went back to conservative for a while until this new wave with Obama etc.
(((commie))) infiltration from the 50's on, entirely theoretical, completely removed from the real world into it's own enclosed "safe" world, theories not usually challenged by people with outside experience, people go to school their whole lives just to teach instead of taking experts from their respective fields, overconfidence from being in a position of power, naive kids succumb to appeal to authority, most teachers are women, etc
Wow, it's almost like being educated, and being exposed to different types of people, makes you more liberal. Who would have thought....
They took over academia in the 60s/70s and turned it left wing. Now, 80% of the professors are leftists and right wing students just keep their heads down, get their degrees and leave.
The more you know about practically anything, the more you understand the need for large scale intervention
>Canada’s military is having to accept new recruits who are fatter, less educated and harder to motivate than previous generations because quality applicants are in dwindling supply, an internal Defence Department audit has concluded.
>The Canadian Forces has historically drawn heavily on young, white males from rural communities to fill its ranks, but the auditors cited recent census data showing that “traditional pool” has been steadily shrinking.
Fat dumb liberals are literally ruining my country's military.
I live in a 55% white city of two million. I am still a trad nationalist
>conservative
Not really, but I know what you mean. Plus, the universities never did.
You had Regan for a while man
>Now, 80% of the professors are leftists and right wing students just keep their heads down, get their degrees and leave.
Very much so. Try open your mouth with a conservative opinion in class. You end up debating the whole fucking class and the professor and if you went what they'd consider too far you'd get a citation or kicked out of the program.
Tenure makes it hard to kick those professors out too. It basically ensures that one commie kike will have decades to subvert and corrupt countless young minds.
...
The right wing idiots who voted for a reality tv show personally will give you a million conspiracy theories. The truth is that more intelligent people seek out higher learning and more intelligent people are almost always left leaning progressives. Because progress is good and genuinely smart people seek it out.
yes but influential cultural centers such as the media, entertainment, and academia didn't under Reagan. They only grew more stronger and left
>no mention of Gramsci or Lukács in the entire thread
>not even about the huge KGB infiltration in america since the 40s
Wow you guys are really clueless.
Reagan gave amnesty to millions of illegals user
MLK day also became a holiday during his time
.
>Why is academia so overwhelmingly left wing?
grew up in white minority town, grew up with diverse people, work with diverse people
grew from kinda liberal to right wing
desu being white and being constantly around diverse people from lower socioeconomic status will probably be the fastest ride to the right wing political sphere
I came across three kinds of professors in college.
1) Radical Marxists who tormented their students, just the most vile people in the world.
2) Professors who were probably Marxists but were actually willing to hear a variety of viewpoints and would not punish you for voicing yours
3) Autist professors totally enveloped in their research focus who didn't give a shit about politics
4) Standard liberal democrats who were reasonable and actually provided a nuanced fair assessment of history.
5) That one based conservative professor of colonial history who wanted to restore the British empire and made all of the SJWs in class go apoplectic.
The university I was at is notorious for being ultra lefty, but I only encountered a couple of type 1 professors. Almost every professor I had was very reasonable.
That's because the Canadian identity isn't about race, it's about ethics. That said, I am Canadian of Scottish descent and have always felt my ancestral culture is highly regarded and celebrated. It's just not what makes me Canadian.
my senpai were Loyalists man, that's deep culture to Ontario and it's now seen as a bad thing
Law school is definitely more difficult than a lot of things, but it attracts "rule followers".
Engineers and science-type people are more observation based, as are lawyers in some cases, but it's not as "natural" as many sciences are. For business/law stuff it's more based on what the books say rather than what the best method might be. See: Indoctrination
I think enlisting when there isn't a draftis for literal retards. There are far better things to do with your life.
No I agree, you're exactly right. In my experience people in logic type stuff are more inclined to base their views on experience rather than hearsay.
Also, key point, is that people in science fields are willing to admit they're wrong. I've been wrong thousands of times, but it's made me much more effective at being right.
Leftists are smarter than rightists.
you really don't understand law. it's not just rules. There's precedent, intentions of the law, meaning of the words, general principles of interpretation, and philosophical ideas of "god given" or "natural" law. It's about logic and truth in the academia sense. It is very natural. The day that our ooga booga ancestors made a deal to work together to hunt down that buffalo, they fucking made a contract without even know it
Yeah we learn the law objectively, but the way it's applied a lot of our assignments are things like "help this person probo get out of an eviction using relevant case law etc"
and it's some bullshit case where I would never take them on as a client if i were practising
>Leftists
>Rightists
But in reality
>Emotion based thinking
>Logic based weaponized autism
Pick one
because the smarter you are, the more left wing you are
because the smarter you are, the more better in academia you are
yea i mean law school isn't practical it's very academic, at least in the USA
i don't even want to practice, i'm just stacking tax law courses and will probably work for a big4 and just do tax advisory work. no litigation or any of that shit fuck that shit
"kinda liberal" is right wing, wtf you talking about
this and
>active subversion of traditional values upon which built entire countries
There doesn't seem to be as much correlation between knowledgeable or wise with educated anymore.
Yet under these same laws and contracts murderers walk free and innocent people rot away in prison.
My point is that if you're calculating the force it takes to make a bridge collapse, there's no agenda, it's either correct, or people die and you're at fault. I get what you're saying but I don't have my head up my ass that far.
i had one prof who claimed to be marxist but was actually a neolib. was an a feminist education prof who came from a rural poor background. really makes you thonk
i say that because back then i would say "why would anyone care that two gays want to be married?" or that "why would i care about illegal immigration? i don't mind if they do low labor jobs, it makes the food cheap and diversity is good"
i say kinda liberal because i was never sjw or hating people because they were conservative
past undergrad academia isn't about education
Its 100% A CULT literally. Specifically. Exactly.
Being (((educated))) means nothing more than being good at memorizing and taking enough adderall to focus long enough.
being proud of my native heritage makes me a visible minority and immediately white leftists try to tell me I'm not as capable as the next person because of "muh white supremacy"
Watch interviews of the former KGB agent Yuri Bezmenov. He'll bring you up to speed about how they managed to pull this off.
>In law school here it's all about social justice, it's annoying as fuck
funny how actual practicing lawyers spend 98% of their efforts bending the rules to royally dick people over. well the ones that make money, that is
wanna know how I know you're underage?
>le evil 1%
native? like tribal pre canada native? if so what's it like being a convenient political card leftists pull out when trying to pc a conservative person?
I miss when we were fur trading and American killing bros.
Because in academia ideas don't have to work in order to stay alive. Therefore the bullshit that is social "science" and indeed Communism as a whole are alive and well and won't fucking die no matter what you do.
A CULT
Every person in the university is effected
CULT
PROFFESSOR CULT MUPPETS CULT CLASS FOR REALLY REALLY CLEVER PROSPECTIVE CULT MEMBERS
they teach that the right answers (gets ticked) are the CULT answers
>proud to be subhuman
Leave it to a bunch of autistic turbotards to not understand the value of emotion. I feel sympathy for you having subpar humanity but I'm not going to let your kind destroy the world because of it.
Natives in Canada are treated pretty poorly by the state desu
>Why is academia so overwhelmingly left wing?
Because most people who go into academia are left wing and many of the people who are right wing that do often do or say something extra retarded. Also many in academia have to be educators as well and from my experience the worst instructors were hyper left wing or anyone right of center.
higher average intelligence
Jews infiltrate on purpose
See the Frankfurt school
And alinsky s rules for radicals
Besides some of the correct theories as to where this come from (Frankfurt School, Jews, hippie takeover) a lot of professors are flat-out people who could NOT cut it in the real world and private sector. Thus, they need someone to blame, and hence you get things like the 'patriarchy' and other nonsensical bullshit.
Communists infiltrated academia in the 50s and 60s. McCarthy was about to resolve the problem but the marxists took him out of the picture.
Really no more complicated than that.
Are you sure you're not talking about capitalism?
Because of tenure. Infiltrating the institution and turning it against the purpose of education and truth wasn't that hard to do. It's the product of teachers unions and a lot of them being basically unfirable.
Tool. Manipulated emotion creating seratonin pathways in your subpar brain via media. You are a drug addict dependent on media memes. You'd literally be a broken shell in full withdrawal without your evil cruel lies.
You don't even know you've been bitten do you, zombie? You're an evil pod person causing harm to all around you and you don't even know it. DUH!
yea but leftists don't really give a fuck about natives. they just use them as a political tool when convenient. If they actually cared, why do are they so focused on making canada and usa diverse via open borders instead of helping the minorities already here that have lived through those states oppressive policies?
