not only that, people hear "regulations" and say "well a 20$ fine is no big deal!" but what if you're in a business like street vending. what if you've got a hotdog cart? now you've got towns with years-long waiting lists to get permits and who do they give the permits to at the end of the day? the people who grease the wheels (so the already rich and corrupt rise to the top in this system again). and that's if your lucky enough to even be in a town that ALLOWS street vending. there are street vendors that get permits with no intention of ever working their carts, they get the permits so they can black market them for tens of thousands of dollars (again, the people who are already rich are getting these and then staffing them with low paid employees). you say "well that's just the hotdog business" well no, i just pulled one random industry as an example because i have some experience in it. but think about it, street vending is the classic "free industry, capitalist" venture. it's EXTREMELY low cost to get into and you make a ton of money and almost ANYONE CAN DO IT but then government comes around and SPECIFICALLY INTENTIONALLY MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE to get into the business because if they didn't, you know, mcdonanlds and burger king might not get as much business.

i went to go open a pool hall when i was a kid, had a nice spot, already had 10 tables up there, i had worked there before under previous ownership and practically run the place, established clientele, everything. i was 25. i had a lease all drawn up and signed and was ready to open for business, got my licenses (which there were many, and which were pains in the asses too) only to be told that my heating system was in violation of regs because it was shut off for more than 6 months and it was past a certain age in terms of how old it was. it was a perfectly good working heating system. literally worked fantastically, and i had 2 of them in there anyhow, but it needed to be gutted and replaced before the government allowed me to open. because i was 25, i didn't have enough capital to replace it, didn't end up opening that pool. ended up going instead to work for a fucking asian supermarket for a little while as a retail slave (i'm white, it was just the first place that hired me, it was miserable). and then you try to tell these kids how these regulations fuck them over and ruin small businesses and make them slaves and they're like "uhhhhhh well that's not what my college professor said, you're just an ignorant fucking republican blah blah blah" its like omfg, these people are so fucking indoctrinated

You're trying to argue for creating a society with a 0% tax rate. I would argue that this is impossible. Civilizations in the past that had low tax rates, made up for it via things like slavery and conquering new territory.

how much of my time does the government own? an income tax is a tax on the fruits of my labor, or the products of my use of time....how much of that is my time and how much of it does the government own? an income tax is literal slavery, as the government tells me how much of the products of my labor I am allowed to keep....so, while it seems that I am free to labor at will, the government will take as much of the products of my labor as they wish as a tax that is collected by force...thus, my time spend at labor is not my own, but owed to the government before I am allowed to keep a meager percentage of what my labors yield....and of what I am allowed to keep, every dollar I spend is taxed or spent on paying literal taxes (property tax, vehicle registration, etc.) and even if I manage to save some of that, it's stolen away in the hidden taxes of inflation
