Hellsing Ultimate

That was painful to watch.
So much for a "classic".

shit taste

Sorry I'm not 15 anymore.

You are a total faggot.

I've just watched the abridged version, makes me curious on the originial series

I mean, the show had pretty fun parts, but overall it was still painful to go through it. The worthless 10min long monologues and completely empty characters surely didn't help, and don't get me started on the """humorous""" parts.

What do you mean by abridged version? That thing called "Digest for Freaks" or something?

You either watch Hellsing Ultimate or that Gonzo version they made first which everyone agrees to be shitty if compared to the Ultimate version. I can't comprehend why would someone watch an "abridged" version of anything; are people that impatient nowadays or what?

Hellsing in general just doesn't make much sense at all and really doesn't try to. The sooner you realize that while watching Ultimate the sooner you enjoy it.

The plot seriously feels like a fever dream pretty much right away, the sense of time is skewed and the fact that every character smiles like their life depends on it even when something really negative is happening to them just screams edge.
But its mindless fun.

Sometimes, abridged version are superior to the original series. Take for example the original Gundam series. The compilation movies might have removed some of the backstory, but in return a lot of fat was removed, the pacing is superior, and the whole thing is a lot more bearable to watch and rewatch. The same holds true for the recent SnK compilations.

less memey, takes itself a tad more seriously - alucard is less of a dick

the team four star version is objectively superior.
too bad they haven't finished doing all the episodes

i liked both, the tfs version as a lighthearted gag spoof, and the original as the glorious 3edgy5u shlock it is

I agree, the issue is that it doesn't really feel entertaining to me, not even as mindless fun. I love over-the-top violent, self-aware shows like Black Lagoon, but Hellsing just bored me.

Ultimate has really weak direction and sound design. The Gonzo version, for all of its donut steel bullshit, is more true to the frenetic over-the-top style of the manga.

The series far outclasses the compilation movies fuck outta here

>constant battle to the title of edgemaster
>seras
>seras and alucard
>Jesus Christ
General or whatever his title was got a bit tiresome but Alucard constantly one upping himself was great.

What's the matter, are you TOO SMART for over-the-top action and violence? Did the lack of thought provoking themes make you want to go back to analyzing Joyce?

Of course they do, autist. Who else would want to sit through the padded shitfest that is the SnK series.

Gundam you autist

The villains were incredibly bad, but Alucard was a great character

The major was top tier tough. So was Anderson.

Same goes for Gundam. Tons of episodes of "oh shit, we're getting attacked, let's defend ourselves" filler episodes got cut out as they should have. The original series isn't even that good in the first place, so the movies are again a lot more bearable to watch.

I found the constant monologuing to be insufferable, it's literally 10 minutes of rehashing a single idea ad nauseum. Also not a fan of the author's idea of """comedy""" that always shows up in this and Drifters.

>The major was top tier tough
Fuck no. Go compose the melody of war on your blimp, nazi robot freak

It it bad that Rip Van Winkle was my favorite character? Not only was she cute, she was the only one that wasn't a smug douche right up until the last microsecond before Alucard pushed their shit in; she knew she was fucking dead the moment he got within a three-mile radius of her, but she was able to overcome that fear and have a go at him anyway.

It's like Sup Forums wrote a fucking anime

I mean Rip had top tier taste in Opera

>Hey guys, we really like war right?
>Yes, that's right, we love war.
>War is the best, and it is what we like
>Remember: We really love war, because war is the best
>All of us will know from this day forward, that we really love war
>Its war! So of course we like it, we are Nazis who love war!
>And I don't have to tell you how much war there is going to be now, and how much you're going to like it
>Yes, even if we lose, we love war
>Because we love war, and war is good for us no matter what
>That is why we are here! Because we love war, and because this will bring us war!

etc etc etc

also she had a boner at the very end

Werber>Wagner every time.

It's action horror porn, fun to watch.

There are two types of well written antagonists: the kind that the viewer can sympathize with, and the kind that the viewer absolutely hates.

People say they want an antagonist who is completely evil, but when they get one, they say he's flat.

"no"

user literally nobody cares about your trash tier opinions. If you can't even recognize something that's good, there's absolutely no use for you. Remove yourself.

>Hellsing Ultimate
>Good

damn dude that's edgy

What did you expect. He's a Hellsing fan so he's probably in a cosplay right now thinking it makes him look cool.

> edgy

Author doesn't take shit seriously. All of the volume bonuses are about him ridiculizing his "badass" characters.

...

This is why I only watch the Abridged episodes. They'll finish it someday...

German Alucard is the best one. Shame the other voices aren't as good.

old show has a much superior soundtrack tho
youtube.com/watch?v=UVEYDfSG5nk&list=PLRZQtSCLN2zYeKrK9xbOFrvlU5-l1g6-5&index=4

that's not how you greentext

Gonzo had a better soundtrack desu

I really liked crispy freeman

I honestly don't ever want to see a sympathetic villain in anything involving vampires. Fuck that Twilight shit. Just let monsters be monsters.

ze storage warz, ze flame warz, but not ze cold war.

There is no one to be symphatetic in this series except seras. Alucard is a monster. Walter is a monster. Integra is a monster. Anderson is a monster. Major is a monster.

It is just a bunch of completely insane characters killing each other in a pointless war, and it is glorious.

The only thing i think is that alucard should had stayed dead. He was killed by a human. A very evil, insane and compulsive man who planned his killing for 50 fucking years. You dont get a better death than that. That was what alucard wanted the most. He found his match. Everyone died. The end.

It was fun until the start of the London battle. The fact that that took half the season with way too little Alucard screentime really put a damper on the show.

Seras still stay nice and cute till the end.

Well, not with everyone more exactly. That makes the parts where she snaps/get serious just more satisfying.

It was ok. Wouldn't really rewatch it.

This may be bad to say, but I liked the abridged version by teamfourstar.more.

Major was a robot, not a human.

Fuck off to /r/anime with your garbage dub trash propaganda.

Pretty much this, thanks for the laugh.

You forgot :

>I won
>This is it, this is over, I completely won
>Everything went as expected; I won
>I just lost everything but I won
>I'm literally dead but I won
>I won

I'm gonna assume this was good bait, because you are most certainly a fag, as is most everyone else in this thread.

1. Who calls it a classic?
I liked it, but I'll agree with that not being able to just turn the page when an anime gets a monologue on (like a manga) really hurts Hellsing and Drifters. I wouldn't call it a classic, but it's still enjoyable to watch.

2. Why was it painful to watch?
I won't assume the people saying "edgy" represent you, but I will address that since it's the only approaching-substantial critique other than the guy I already mentioned. With vampires you're always going to be edgy to people, especially thanks to shit like Twilight, but it's deeper than that. Vampires are like babbys first antihero. So imo they're edgy only in so far as people think they're all just great and so cool. It would suck to be a vampire (especially after a few years of having to obey the laws placed on you and the damnation ect ect), and as long as the author utilizing vampires understands this and includes this low level self awareness I'd argue vampires are not innately edgy.

Hellsing addresses weaponized vampires, which makes them seem cool, but on numerous occasions Alucard makes it clear he wishes he could just have someone put him down. He's not whiny or depressive about it, and he might be a bit carefree, but in the end it's a fucking anime, not a classic, not a book. It does what it does well, and while it has many faults, edgy is near the last of them.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Best part was Father Anderson and Alucard. I'd say everything after that fight was unnecessarily dragged out. Major didn't do shit, Wolf guy had no meaning. Fuck the butler and his strings.

Who wins?
Blade or Alucard

Well his goal was to kill Alucard and he thought he had.

OP here.

I agree with 1), and it was the biggest thing that bothered me.

2) I don't like nor use the word "edgy", I always watch 20+ series every season and always enjoy everything to some extent, even your standard "shitty LN" adaptation. I also don't care about vampire clichés etc, I always enjoyed gothic stuff and don't care what others say.

I enjoyed the art and a lot of designs, especially Alucard or the different weapons we had the chance to see. Seeing London getting ravaged was also a lot of fun. I enjoyed the gore and all the deaths. My biggest problem were the empty dialogues dragging on for too long and most of the "important" fights in the second half were not satisfying nor enjoyable at all. Are you telling me you remember Alucard vs. Anderson? This was not even a fight, Anderson took him down once, girl yelled, Alucard woke up and took him in one hit. A lot of the fights ended up being shit like this, they just misused their resource and wasted graphic potential to add more rambling shits.

It was painful to watch, even with my brain disconnected or in "popcorn mode" I still had a hard time getting through all 10 OVAs.

Their first fight was much better than their last one.

I don't know about german alucard, but the best major is french.

youtube.com/watch?v=NC8vNCRjqTM

My main problem is how OP Alucard is.
Watching him just murder people without breaking a sweat gets boring after a while. And Seras was pretty useless for the most of the anime. Two things I like about the TV show is the music and Seras doing a lot more screen time

I found Schrodinger's to be far more appropriate, they actually got a German guy with a perfectly fitting girlyboy voice to do it instead of some chick with a bad fake accent.

>hellsing
>classic

Who's cuter, Seras or Alucard

The manga first started in 1997, no small number of titles from that time period are generally considered by Sup Forums as classics. Not that you would know anything about that with your poor tastes.

Island arc

Waltah.

I don't want to see Walter of all people making a "fuck me" pose.

>of all people
Nigger he was a delicious god tier trap long before he was an old man, so much so that Alucard felt like he had to actually turn into a little girl just to compete. And while I don't really swing that way his adult body was undeniably the very picture of tall dark and handsome.

>Draw girls, call them boys
>Draw tomboys, call them girls

Guess that is a wrap for a day t. Hirano

I fucking love Hellsing but even if you hate it, it did give us
>this
and if you hate that then fuck you

she looks better in blue

...

Ultimate was good until like episode 7

I like the medieval vlad the impaler part

I approve of this picture.

It's a show that promises Dracula vs. Hitler.

And the difference between it and every other exploitation franchise with a gonzo premise is that Hellsing delivers, in spades, with a side order of big damn titties.

youtube.com/watch?v=8SlWegS2sS0
Just change wolfman to Alucard.

The series is nearly 20 years old. It took nearly 10 years for them to complete Hellsing Ultimate.

I dunno about "classic" but it's vampires vs nazis with a bunch of edgy shit and violence. It's pretty fun mate, don't be a faggot.

>implying
