The 80's thread

Boy, 80's sure was a great time for anime. Not that many shows, but when they got it right, they got it fucking right.

>Kimagure orange road

When I think 80s I always think of the movies. Like there are some solid shows too, but who gives a shit when you've got stuff like Totoro or Akira or Night on the Galactic Railroad or whatever?

>Movies
Yeah, no.

Why the fuck not?

>no city hunter
>no patlabor
>no dragon ball/z
>no votoms

Because akira sure is better than legend of the galactic heroes, or my neighbor jotaro is better than macross.

NOT.

Who gives a fuck about movies, they are mediocre. The 80's has 4 of the best OVA's ever made and some really great shows.

All I can tell from your post is that you are a newfag, who has only seen the most mainstream movies and nothing else from the 80's.

>>no city hunter

>my neighbor jotaro
really makes you think

My bad, I'm satisfied then. Though DBZ is really one of the best series of this time

>no patlabor
I didn't include any movies and I haven't watched patlabor on tv or the OVA's.
>no dragon ball/z
I dont care for the db franchise, HNK is better.
>no votoms
I didn't want to include all the mediocre mecha shows like l-gaim, vifam, dunbine, mospeda, layzner, dangram etc. they are okay, but I wanted to point out the cream of the crop.

Oh shit, my mistake.

Also, that would have been quite a different movie...

>I dont care for the db franchise, HNK is better.

I've yet to watch HNK, or rather I watched the 20 first ep and it was nice but the production is an ugly ass, cels with dust and hair everywhere, remind me of Nadia's Island Arc.

DB/Z in comparison is absolutely nice to watch and it amazed me, I didn't remembered it like that, a treat

But ultimately, why not both

I only recently dived into 80's mecha realm but I think Votoms is nice, well...

All I can tell from your post is that you're an idiot.

>mediocre mecha shows like l-gaim, vifam, dunbine, mospeda, layzner, dangram

Reading this ruined my Christmas

Honestly, does anyone outside of /m/ remember those?

And if you are from /m/, im so sorry!

Lurk more newfag.

well you go on /m/ when you have watched them, not the reverse

>mediocre
>dougram
I will fucking fight you you piece of shit

Maybe I'm biased towards HNK anime, because I read the manga lately. Sure the anime does not look the best, but I love it's manliness, great characters and how it feels more like a Greek tragedy than your avarage fighting shonen.

Get some taste.

Says the guy who has only seen the most normie movies possible and thinks this shit is the better than the tv anime of the 80's.
I mean, Akira and totoro? This is the kind of shit, that people who don't know what anime is, watch.

...

I just finished watching a certain fight (and everything leading up to it) in Hokuto no Ken at the midway point of the series. I'm naturally talking about the first fight with Raoh and everything between freeing Toki all the way up to said fight.

And this was the most hype thing I've ever witnessed, not just from sheer hype perspective but complete emotional rollercoaster that brings about literally every single emotion a man can have.

And I was actually feeling sleepy and very tired when I came back from xmas dinner family socializing, mostly due to lack of sleep beforehand.
I finished watching shortly under an hour ago and my emotions are still wild and I'm now more awake than I was at any point during the day today, all as a result of what I witnessed.

This was the best xmas "present" I could've wished for.

And it's "only" the halfway point and I can already safely declare Hokuto no Ken to be THE MANime and the ultimate battle anime series in general.

And the best anime of all time as well most likely.

Now go and watch it if you haven't:

Pic related, a fraction of what I felt. That is all.

Macross is fucking stupid.

Are Creamy Mami blu rays any good? Or should I stick with the dvds?

Do you just hate corny scifi?

Right, complaining about "normie" movies is stupid.

Get out

The final fight of the original series is amazing, you're in for a treat. Just make sure to ignore the terrible sequel.

It is. It's also super stylish, decently written, and a ton of fun.

>Just make sure to ignore the terrible sequel.
I plan on seeing HnK2 anyway just to form my own opinion.

The mangaka made a terrible mistake, when he decided to continue the manga, after the most epic final fight ever. It just doesn't feel the same after that.

Lucy May is great.

Eighties Keit-ai.

RANMA IS NOT AN '80S SHOW YOU BELLIGERENT NEWBIE
IT STARTED IN 1989 YES BUT IT IS ALMOST ENTIRELY A '90S SERIES

Why is Gundam there then

>RANMA IS NOT AN '80S SHOW YOU BELLIGERENT NEWBIE
>IT STARTED IN 1989 YES

MEMBER YANG?
MEMBER RHINEHARD?
MEMBER ROSENRITTERS?

1989 TO 1992
80 PERCENT OF IT AIRED IN THE 1990S!!!!!!

I fucking hate HnK. As generic as it gets.
Rei death was literally the only good thing in the entire series.

>my neighbor jotaro
That one got me.

>dougram
>vifam
>mediocre
Fuck you, man. Kanda is an underrated master.
