I'd say lobbying is probably the biggest reason it's illegal. I hate to go all "DUDE WEED", but if it were legalized across the board the economy would go into chaos in tons of industries.

I'm not a smoker, but I've noticed that despite it being illegal - people only ever get in trouble for it if they're already a criminal of another variety. Even in zero-tolerance states, upstanding citizens with successful careers or whatever can pretty much smoke freely.
In that regard, it's a great tool for keeping scum off the streets because even though I don't think smoking weed is degenerate, almost every degenerate smokes weed.

I used to smoke a lot of weed. I'm sure all the "muh medicating" fags will come out of their basements but i'll say it. Weed brought me down as a productive citizen, i a was lazy and slow, haven't smoked over a year and I couldn't be happier.
