What happened with feudal Japan setting?

We used to have lot of anime about ninjas, and samurai in old Japan but lately all sword action seems to be focused on medieval western worlds.

They even sent Nobunaga to a western fantasy world with elves.

Did Japan forget its roots? Samurai and ninjas are not popular any more?

I just don't think its popular as it use to be anymore.

Even though Drifters kind of had it but it didn't, Everything is about cute girls and harems.

Someday if we belive and wish really really hard

>I need five Nobunaga wanking shows a season or I won't be satisfied

Every single time they do use the setting it's for yet another fucking Nobunaga show. You should be thankful if they become more scarce.

Thing is there are still lot of manga about that stuff but for some reason they are not being adapted

But there is one airing this season?

>Samurai and ninjas are not popular any more?
Fujoshits love gay samurai.

Overdone

True, but to be fair I think we got more isekai stuff in the last two years than samurai stuff in the last 20

Onihei next season

Probably because japs think it's cheesy.

Popular setting comes and go. Things get boring and everyone moves to the next hot thing. Vidya example: how many WW2 shoters have you seen in recent years compared to the constant stream of those in the past?

Isn't that swordshit anime in feudal-fantasy-Japan?

There's AT LEAST one a season, god forbid they flood us with any more.

Best short of the season

Nobunaga no Shinobi

Not sure if it counts but
Drifters and Touken Ranbu

Hijacked by fujos. Male Otaku prefer isekai with high fantasy aesthetic.

And Japan hasn't forgotten its roots, you've heard of Taiga dramas before, right?

>Male Otaku prefer isekai with high fantasy aesthetic.
Maybe for newfag.

I don't like isekai at all. Especially the one with harem in it.
Basilisk & Shigurui are the best feudal anime ever.

t. veteran male otaku

You can't fool me fujo.

Shigurui is massively homoerotic.

Picked up

It's called a phase.

>samurai warriors anime flopped with QUALITY

i wish we had a huge long running series of 50 something episodes of the whole sengoku era from Nobunaga's start to Yukimura stands at Osaka with SW's characters

>no mention of Hyouge Mono

plebs

pfftahahaha those designs are so fucking bad

It's more exotic.

>handlebars on a horse
>feudal Japan

>about ninjas,

Not as many as you'd think really

...

>Male Otaku prefer isekai with high fantasy aesthetic.

What about one of those but with Japanese aesthetics...oh, wait!

Ninjas are like steampunk, or fantasy, its something that is dumped into lot of works of different genres but its difficult to find in its pure form.

When on daily basis you see samurais commuting on the subway, ninjas buying stuff at the combini, or race queen geishas they get stale and lose their magic. Same happens to mechas, they arent trending anymore because theres a mecha battle at any hour of the day.
Thats why japan turned the wheel to fantasy medieval europe settings and 'normal' SOL school settings.
