Both manga and anime are rubbish. Whole story is about a parasite who is using spineless characters to get what she wants and nobody gave her reality check (Episode X: Umaru wants this, episode Y: Umaru wants that). Even author started making manga on Ebina-chan (fact that so far Umaru isn't there makes story much better) and whoever says Umaru is good manga/character has terrible taste.
Every damn episode: "Umaru wants this gameeee!!! Onii-chan buy it buy it buy it!" Her brother: "Oh, it cannot be helped, I'm working my ass off to pay for everything and although I do all the chores I won't mind wasting money on my sister's wishes". All episodes and manga are moving in circle, there is no actual plot, just Umaru's demands.

See where Taihei is looking at Umaru's perfect tests while she's literally drooling over a manga. You can just see him thinking "I cannot believe this is the same person". Or the tennis match where Sylphynford pulls out a literal flower backdrop to pose against.

Umaru-chan is better at visual gags than most anime. It's making fun of videogames and the annoying little sisters that play them. It does that TOO WELL.
