This tax it's been brewing for a while so you can't blame nobody else.
Is the tax plan even good? All I'm hoping is that it at least increases confidence in the economy, as it is obviously going to massively increase the national debt
No, the tax plan attacks graduate students in the US, so, unless you hire an H1B chick or pajeet, the influx of US-made grad students will be slim.
For example, if an institution waives your tuition and offers you $12k a year to pursue a PhD, you will also be taxed on the $50k/year tuition, which you will never see.
It is the kikiest thing I have ever seen.
chink*** not chick
The Kochs will finally get what they wanted.
There's nothing quite like inhibiting Americans from higher education and hiring a bunch of foreign workers that disrupt your demographics AND contribute to brain drain and developing nations
Hopefully this will at least lessen the influence of leftist academia, but I doubt that will happen
*in developing nations
Good. Fuck the Democrats. I saw the debate recently and the Dems just sat there lying their asses off about everything.
H1B aren't given to students, that's a different type of visa.
Secondly, the scam is the fact that the universities are "charging" students 40k in tuition, then waiving it, then paying them 12k in stipend.
This is an accounting trick for the universities to make their budget and expenses seem higher so they can probably capture more grant dollars and other money to hire more (((administrators))). They are cooking their books by piling huge sums in basically fake expenses on their books. The universities could solve this problem today by charging 0 dollars for the tuition, instead of 40k and then "waiving" it.
>no the tax plan attacks graduates
oh you mean the plan that just tells you if you get 'paid' to go to college you have to pay tax on it?
Aka that thing that the colleges are supposed to not be doing in the first place (re: charging you for ~50k then immediately refunding you 50k)
>No, the tax plan attacks graduate students in the US
If it's women's studies or art graduates then that's a good thing.

>I don't know anything about graduate school: the post
A cut to their funding is long overdue. Plus the tax is aimed at the richer grad students who have the money to spend their time fucking off in grad school instead of working.
Really doesn't matter to the typical broke grad student.
They will literally make it $0 dollar tuition. It was just there so they can have a double write off. Aka I just gave a charitable donation of 50k in education.
You're over-stating the value of graduate students. We have a labor shortage in trade jobs because every dumbass kid is being convinced they need to go to college but they don't know why.
I thought they were sending it back to the house for review? Don't think it will pass until around Christmas.
Democrats work very hard to make sure their constituents don't know about these accounting tricks.
If you want to attack colleges and help students (in the long run) you revoke all federal and student aid. That's why the cost is so fucking high in the first place, because the government has guaranteed it will pay a certain amount. This is what you do, you don't tax young adults up the fucking ass
It goes to reconciliation after it passes the Senate. It's not just going back to the House.
Ok, so assuming it passes the senate when does it land on trumps desk?
I fucking hope you guys are right. I eat beans and rice most nights already as it is, so if they decided to tax that $12k like I was making $65/year, I couldn't afford to get an education in the US, and I would unironically probably try to attend somewhere else. My only luxury is playing video games and going to the gym.
Basically, I'm pissed and I hope you guys are right about the universities deciding to remove tuition.
We should cut funding to universities then, they will be forced to remove programs that bring in the least revenue (i.e. leftist indoctrination courses). This will do more than unnecessarily taxing students
They still need you registered to get the goodie federal money, so trying to stick you because their cash cow is done is not a very smart investment move.
You don't even know what is being taxed, nor why, because that is essentially what is getting done.
Loopholes are being closed, stop complaining.
Yeah it's great if you're a corporation! SO based ! MAGA
>Net Neutrality
It's basically social welfare for the internet. I like the idea of reddits paying more.
I would save as much money as you can, obviously, it might be a rough couple years as universities figure out what to do as a result of this.
They have a sweet scam going on right and now that will be difficult to part ways with. I think eventually the universities will be left with now choice, but I can't lie to you I think it will take them a couple years to figure that out. If you're in school right now you might get fucked.
>All corporations are on the Fortune 500 list
It seems more like the colleges are getting taxed, then just shoving it onto the students.
