Happy New Year, Bleachfags. And a Happy New Year to best Bleach ship.

>some device box from Urahara-san that flashes into white smoke, Urahara greets them which Rukia & Renji try to reply to and are surprised by being congratulated for their marriage. It is a recorded voice mail. They also receive a gift from him with the device. (He’s being shady about some technology gift they must keep a secret? Don’t quote me on this part.) Until proven otherwise, my belief is that Urahara's gift for Rukia and Renji is some kind of sex toy.
Elijah Williams
-Rukia and Renji invited Gotei members to have some sake (like a tea party) where they announced they were getting married like this,
-Rukia’s face gets redder and redder from anxiety when Renji, finally, stands up straight nervously with her next to him. She deeply thanks everyone for coming and Renji spills it with a “We- we are getting married!” declaration and there’s shocked silence for a moment until Rangiku, Hanataro, Kiyone, and others congratulate them, people aren’t surprised by them getting together (I think this part is translated? But I’ll put it here because I found it really cute and humorous how it was written.)
-Rukia goes to Byakuya’s place to inform she’s going to do the marriage enrollment, Chiyo appears again (Rukia’s servant & friend from Makoto-sensei’s last novel The Death Save The Strawberry) to help her
-Iba takes care of Komamura’s dog, Goro. I haven’t seen any confirmation on the wolf cubs’ relation to Komamura (I sort of skimmed here a bit sorry)
-Renji and Rukia run into Iba & the doggos on their way and they get friendly here
-Rukia and Renji are packing and looks to be getting a mansion/house to live in together in the first central ward area due to the upcoming establishment of marriage (this is before the ceremony)
-Everyone’s fave forgotten shinigami Ryuunosuke Yuki & others appear here for a short bit to help with moving and duties (he’s confirmed alive at least? they don’t do anything important)
-Ryuusuke & other members give them some device box from Urahara-san that flashes into white smoke, Urahara greets them which Rukia & Renji try to reply to and are surprised by being congratulated for their marriage. It is a recorded voice mail. They also receive a gift from him with the device. (He’s being shady about some technology gift they must keep a secret? Don’t quote me on this part.)
Christopher Carter
-Renji & Rukia have a meal at Byakuya’s place in silence which makes Renji nervous and they look to get a kimono because Byakuya asked about his dress earlier with Rukia. Later all three go to get their marriage papers officialized and announced as an official couple, the two get emotionally happy over this on finally being married.
The wedding ceremony section: -It starts with Orihime at a park by the train station where she and Renji&Rukia meet up
-Rukia asks how the shop is prospering since Orihime works as a regular employee at a bakery’s cake store called “ABCookies” ever since after high school graduation three summers ago
-Because Orihime relied on distant relative’s living expenses, but since they would only give assistance until high school graduation, she had to look for work.
-Just from the air that Renji and Rukia seem more intimate than before, Orihime wonders happily with a big smile - “Oh, you two started dating, isn’t it?!” Orihime’s intuition is sharp although dull many times (?)
-Rukia is taken aback by the suddenness that she’s laughing nervously and stumbling for words. “Inoue, Renji and I… We entered today… ah……. ah oh yeah um… entering… We entered to get married.” sort of thing. Orihime is really happy to hear this that she’s begun to cry tearfully with a shining smile
-Wondering if Rukia has told Ichigo yet, Rukia tells her she wanted to tell her female best friend first of the news before heading over to see Ichigo
-Riruka works at Yukio’s enterprise company, works as a designer in the apparel department
-Jackie Tristan too works at the same company but she flies all over the world to developing countries as charity, so they rarely see each other in person
Angel Martinez
-Orihime calls Riruka and talks about Rukia getting married and the ceremony is approaching in a couple of weeks, she wanted to make a wedding dress for her at first. Riruka yells that it’s not possible for a beginner to do in two weeks in which Orihime thinks over again with the suggestion of a wedding veil instead. They agree and order the materials.
-Ichigo is a university student coming home from afternoon class (doesn’t mention what field/career)
-Tatsuki does karate
-All the human friends are gathered at Kurosaki Clinic including Tatsuki, Keigo, and Mizuiro and the two Kurosaki sisters
-The later four’s careers aren’t mentioned
-They’re all eating cakes Orihime brought from ABCookies and working on the veil progressively together and it takes them hours until completion
-Orihime liked flowers since a long time ago. They are putting texture of strawberry flower petals on the hem of the veil. In the language of flowers, it means happy family which she says would be perfect as a motif on the veil for the loving couple which everyone sewed some petals on then put the gold embroidery through.(Ichika isn’t really mentioned in the novel but it’s a speculation on connecting the dots where her name comes from with this info drop)
-Uryu is a medical student in medical school. He’s mended his relationship with his father but does not answer any more questions about it.
-Chad’s sparring partner is named Daniel (安堂ダニエル) a heavyweight Japanese champion, he leaves after getting the call
-Yuzu says Orihime acts as a mother so she is very happy when she’s around. Karin agrees when asked and says she’s reminded of her mother, Masaki, and looks at the large poster in the room when they talk more about it fondly.
-Orihime wears a pink dress made of fluffy chiffon material at the wedding ceremony (putting this here for the colorists/editors)
-After the ceremony is done with Renji and Rukia being wed, there’s a feast.
Sebastian Thompson
-The girls including Orihime and Rangiku all excitedly take pictures of Rukia and with Rukia by putting their faces together behind the camera (A lot are camera happy haha)
-Kyoraku borrows Rukia for a moment and they leave to have some privacy because Kyoraku has a story to tell her and gives a gift wrapped in cloth to her
-Rukia is really surprised it’s the 13th squad’s haori and gets overwhelmed by emotions
-Ukitake had told Kyoraku he wants to retire one day so he originally tailored a haori to give to Kaien but then he lost his life
-Kyoraku did not give it to Rukia until today because he was waiting for her heart to grow (to strengthen her heart for leadership). Also hands her an envelope with a heavy banknote inside, Rukia tries to not accept but Kyoraku tells her it is from Ukitake and pleads for her to please accept Rukia swears an oath to herself that it won’t be too far in the future she will be captain with the haori, she just needs more time
-Four hours after the reception, the humans are now leaving to head home and they give gift bags.
-There is a message from Isshin given to Rukia. Isshin tells he is the uncle to Kaien. At the time of his nephew’s death, he was the tenth captain so it was a shock. Of course, he had heard the circumstances from Ukitake, and thought Rukia needed a helping hand/comfort most, so he visited the 13th barracks many times but when he saw Rukia’s painful profile/look, he could not call out anything.
-Renji tells Rukia to remain and he’ll escort the humans to the senkaimon so that they can head home because he is a part of the 6th squad.
-What follows after are the last few pages with Renji + Ichigo and Ichigo + Orihime which are translated
-Hisagi’s 2017 novel will reveal the mystery of the world, the Fullbringers and Arrancar, the Soul King, and the great aristocrat houses
Daniel Young
Some people remarked about Rukia not recognizing Isshin as Captain Shiba, but I don't find it strange at all as "Captain Shiba" and "Kurosaki Isshin" looks very different. Also, as an unseated officer from a different division, Rukia may not have many opportunities to see the 10th division captain, so she may not even remember what he looks like. Keep in mind that even today cameras are rare in SS and there's no TV.

>Urahara hasn't fugged the cat yet I haven't kept up, has Yoruichi's cat transformation thing been explained yet?
Thomas Taylor
>>shipping faggotry It's a novel focusing on the Renruki wedding and the end features a bit of Ichihime. What did you expect?
The second novel is the one that will focus on other things.
Samuel Fisher
>has Yoruichi's cat transformation thing been explained yet? Didn't he drug her for the transformation to happen?
Joshua Harris
>Yoruichi's cat transformation Nope. Not even a dismissive "it's a Shihouin secret technique" explanation has been given.

U late user. It's out this upcoming Spring.

>female best friend Get's me every damn time. Orihime attracts all the lonely girls. Lonely girls attract their own kind.
-After his moms death, Ichigo changed and that left Tatsuki upset.
-Riruka had that sad past and she's a tsuns so she's hard to get along with.
-Rukia is distant and closed her heart for a long time.
Blake Martinez
Why are there so many tsunderes in Bleach? Makes me appreciate open characters like Rangiku more.
Robert Bailey
Yoruichi is also open. A bit too open at times, but thats what makes her fun.
Dominic Powell
One more novel this Spring. Said to be Hisagi-centered but knowing Narita's style it will not focus on him only. Will touch on the Squad Zero, Soul King, Fullbringer, Arrancar, and 4 great noble families.
Levi Brooks
I expect the issue with Yhwach's corpse will be expanded upon in this novel.
Samuel Roberts
Live action movie in 2018, now filming. Kubo will draw a special chapter as promo, that has Fishbone-D in it. Guy in the pic, Sota Fukushi, has been cast as Ichigo. Girl in the pic is the rumored Rukia, Hana Sugisaki.
Luke Flores
Will the Hisagi novel take place after the manga's finale?
Cameron Morris
No info on that yet. People speculate it'll be post 686 because of what Hitsugaya said (the last 10 years was peaceful).
If it's post finale I hope Ichika and maybe Kazui will be featured.
Ryan Jackson
If Bleach was still popular, the novels would probably get animated like the Naruto Hiden series.
Or maybe not, Naruto's global popularity was and is at a whole different level.

According to Kubo, a romantic back to back should be like this, user.
Zachary Flores
Ichigo looks way better in color. Makes him look healthier than in the usual monochrome.
Anthony Long
It was so obvious. Why were people so blind?
Nathan Barnes
Because there was also stuff like this.
Basically there are scenes/depictions that can be used as a basis to believe "this is where Kubo is going" and hardcore shippers refuse to see the other side's "moments" while overemphasizing the importance of their side's. Over time this selectiveness is amplified by echo chambers and further polarized by conflicts with members of the opposing faction.
All ship wars are like that.
When the rivalry is between an obvious one and an obviously-not one, like Natsu/Lucy vs Natsu/Lisanna, it doesn't turn into a ship war because it really was obvious, so the "losing" side quietly accepts their "defeat".
John Clark
Of course he did.
And no, it has not been.
Goodness I hope so.
Cooper Gonzalez
>Natsu/Lucy vs Natsu/Lisanna >Super obviously paired together in every omake and increasingly so in main content vs Childhood Friend
I mean, I like Childhood Friend setups as much as anyone, but calling it a "Rivalry" is a stretch...
Andrew Russell
That was his point. He used it as an example of a ship war that was so lopsided that the losing side begrudgingly accepts their loss.
Brandon Lopez
I think his point was more that it never really even turned into a war.
And I was saying it wouldn't even qualify for a "Rivalry". Or a conflict of any kind.
Benjamin Howard
Why are you people still denying the fact that Kubo still baited readers with IchiRuki?
Justin Robinson
What does baiting with IchiRuki mean? Elaborate your hypothesis.
Xavier Walker
Is this really how you want to start off 2017? By making the same mistakes you made in 2016?
You don't have to do this anymore. Don't be an autist. Free yourself. Forge the shipping and move on.
Evan Diaz
These 2 seem more likely to want to fuck each other than Ichigo and Rukia.
Brandon Davis
What mistake did I do in 2016? I fully repaid my student loan and my ship won.
Jaxon Robinson
There's always the nostalgia factor. Bleach could get another anime down the line.
Christian Gutierrez
If it can keep its fanbase like Kenshin, perhaps. But Kenshin is also more popular globally. Over here, common people know of Naruto, Pokemon and Samurai X, but not One Piece, Bleach, or Gundam.
Isaiah Lopez
THIS.
Evan Wilson
No. Please put it in words. Do you mean to say that Kubo at one point entertained IR as a possibility? Do you think he deliberately designed it as a bait? You can't just say he "baited" and think others can understand where you're coming from. I want to know if you came up with it having read the manga closely from the beginning, or just reactionary as a result from "losing".
Bentley Thomas
>the novels would probably get animated like the Naruto Hiden series. The Naruto Hiden novels are getting animated?
Huh. That'll be cool. Will be neat to see shit like Naruto and Hinata's wedding (And the associated stories of the various gifts), Kakashi's last mission as a Jounin, Sakura opening her hospital, Shikamaru and Temari hooking up, Sai and Ino hooking up, etc.
Nicholas Butler
They're adapting the Shikamaru, Konoha (Naruto's wedding) and Sasuke ones. Sasuke's currently airing and Shikamaru's starting next week.
The funny thing is, because of the timeline switch (Sasuke Shinden should be the last but it was put first), Hinata is now pregnant before marriage.
Bentley Robinson
Lewd.
Slight shame just cause I find the idea of her being impregnated on the hot springs honeymoon Shikamaru gets them lewder still.
Aaron Johnson
>Makes me appreciate open characters like Rangiku more. Funny thing is she's not exactly THAT open, like part of her character is that she'll hide her true feelings. It's one of those "the most depressed is the one smile the biggest" things
Brandon Myers
Naruhina a shit.
Aaron Flores
Ichigo is literally saying he can't pick just one over any other memory and that shot of Rukia is of her disappearing when he lost his powers. It's not a shipping moment it's him recalling his final memory of his powers.
Jose Thompson
Different person here. I honestly wasn't surprised at how that ended, because I got it out of my system when Kubo started obviously pushing more for an Orihime setup around the Hueco Mundo arc. The reason why people kept shipping that I think was because Kubo was so BAD at selling Ichigo/Orihime while Ichigo and Rukia were always written with a nice dynamic.
So despite Kubo's clear intent the delivery was never there, leaving people to cling to their ship right to the end.
Eli Gray
Nice cherry picking. Even cropped Renji out to turn it into an Ichiruki moment when the actually scene is far from it.
Noah Ross
>Ichigo and Rukia were always written with a nice dynamic Honestly this was only in the anime though, once the Soul Society arc happened Ichigo and Rukia would stop being constantly by each other's side for the rest of the story.
Jonathan James
>"I don't need to be protected!" >Winds up having to be protected by Byakuya >Unlocks Bankai >Needs to be told to shape up by Byakuya before she uses it Silver-lining to IchiHime, Ichigo will always be #1 in Orihime's eyes. He won't have to play second fiddle to Onii-sama.
Downside, sucks to be Sora. Oh and Renji.
Samuel Morales
user you replied to here, I pretty much have the same perspective as yours. Since SS I have the feeling that RR will be canon, and Orihime's confession further strengthened that hunch.
However, I'm still not clear whether (and if he does, since when) Kubo was aware of the IchiRuki following that sprouted despite his intention, and whether it influenced the way he wrote Bleach.
I was hoping that IR user could help share their thought process.
Jonathan Ortiz
That's true, but the few moments they got together were meaningful and fun.
Carter Jenkins
>Ichigo and Rukia would stop being constantly by each other's side for the rest of the story
That's putting it mildly. After the party splits in Hueco Mundo, there's maybe a couple dozen chapters that have Ichigo and Rukia actually in the same place interacting with each other.
Those chapters weren't all filled with great interaction either. Like the captains including Byakuya showing up where Ichigo and Yami are fighting(while Rukia watches) to send Ichigo back to fight Aizen. Rukia just vanishes off panel as Ichigo talks with the captains and departs. No reaction from her for him leaving, or reactions to her brother showing up to save Ichigo's ass even when Ichigo's just standing around waiting for the gate back to be ready. The anime threw in some interaction between Ichigo and Rukia then, but as far as the manga's concerned she might as well be Hanataro in that scene she's so unimportant.
Matthew Clark
I'd disagree Rukia as a character plateaued after the SS arc where it was repetitively getting over Kaien's death and receiving acknowledgment from Onee-sama. Her interactions with Renji were the few times we actual saw fun Rukia again.
Landon Reed
>I'm still not clear whether Kubo was aware of the IchiRuki following that sprouted despite his intention I legitimately do not think it would be possible to be unaware of it.
>and whether it influenced the way he wrote Bleach. Kubo, if you take his statements and the one sob story at face value, seems the type of writer who will stick to his plan no matter what outside influences may say. This is perhaps why he didn't do much more to strengthen the IchiHime-bond as, to his perspective, it was fine as-is.
While I can respect such perseverance, personally I feel that a story, especially one as long and drawn out as Bleach, SHOULD be influenced by a view outside the writer, as readers can often offer a more varied and introspective viewpoint on character growth, than a writer with a particular view in mind, who may not realize how certain things come across.
Even putting aside the idea of shipping and so forth though, Bleach's ending really should have been altered because of one crucial fact. Kubo's method of dealing with writer's block; introducing new characters. Yet because of his apparent immutability with regards to the end-game, much of this bloated cast received little to no closure in the end, as it was not written with any of them in mind. Even long-runners to the show got shafted, ostensibly to fit in little nods to a few later characters.
Gavin Stewart
>seems the type of writer who will stick to his plan no matter what outside influences may say The problem with this is that we do have examples where he has buckled to outside influences to change his story i.e. shortening the first arc and thus changing Shinji from a transfer student with unique powers to being a former captain who became a vizard. That's why I take the 'sob story' as him defending his choice to go to the ending he had always planned but that on the way there were clear bumps in the road where things did move away from making that plan more coherent.
Gabriel Jackson
Fair point.
Jayden Martin
>soifong mad that her goddess would rather fuck a doubly dead guy than her
Cooper Collins
When I mentioned "influenced" I don't mean the ending, though. It's about that user's claim of "baiting". Was it really "baits" (things he deliberately put in to lure readers) or does he think he's doing just fine in presenting the unique friendship as he intended, with no external economic motive? Especially around the middle parts, before he seemingly lost control of the story, adding new character after new character and overt power after overt power.
Adrian Jackson
I mean it's worth noting Kubo's had a pretty bad relationship with Jump's editing staff since Zombie Powder and even the likes of Toriyama at the height of Dragon Ball's popularity wasn't immune from executive interference.
I'm not saying Kubo's some genius being pushed down by 'the man' but if the executives and the creatives can't work well together then the final product won't be very good.
Colton Flores
I did mean to answer that, but I can see how it might have gotten lost in the whole rant.
Optimistically, yes, I do think he believed he was presenting things well and that most people got what he was going for, and that no he did not alter any perspective to purposefully bait those who did not.
Leo Fisher
THE DOG WHO FUCKED THE STAR
Oliver Hernandez
>he believed he was presenting things well and that most people got what he was going for, and that no he did not alter any perspective to purposefully bait those who did not. It paints Kubo as this somewhat socially disconnected artist, but that portrait goes with his cosplaying of Mayuri (a guy that does what he wants without a care for others) and this twitter rant.
Cameron Allen

Justin Sullivan
Some more impressions from the poppy-moon blog. Anyone can translate? It seems that there's an appearance of baby Nemu, Kiyone is good at healing and that's why Yama-jii assigned her to serve under Ukitake, Rikichi and Ryuunosuke are brothers, and Shino has the same surname as Ikkaku?
>Rikichi and Ryuunosuke are brothers That was in 13Blades. The other info is somewhat new. I'm not surprized by Kiyone, her sister is in 4th division after all.
Sebastian Nguyen
Healing is a skill Kubo can bestow at will. Like when Kira healed Matsumoto because he was in 4th before transferring to 3rd.
Josiah Robinson
Isshin and Rukia are also quite capable in this area, you learn it in academy. I till believe this mention of Kira being in 4th was unnecessary and doesn't really fit well. Heck , Hinamori wanted to heal Matsumoto herself before getting taken out by Ayon.
This mention of transfers between divisions remind me, I like how novel states tthat sometimes it's C46 that chooses VCs if captain doesn't care. It explains how Renji became Byakuya's lieutenant.
Evan Howard
Could be Aizen's influence.
Owen Diaz
The sad thing about these novels is that for Narita's we likely won't get anyone as dedicated as this shipgirl from tumblr and the best we can hope for is some detailed summary (like SAFWY).
Bentley Evans
Byakuya was still in his "must not go against orders" phase, too. But the choice is peculiar because according to databooks the 6th's character was strict adherence to rules, and Renji's not only a tattooed hoodlum from Rukongai but also was in Zaraki's division. Why was he picked?
