What went wrong?
What went wrong?
LITERALLY NOTHING
Can you explain?
Nothing. It was the tightest shit.
Op is still dope.
Everything. It was boring as fuck.
Nothing
It ended too soon. I wanted more stories in that universe.
>slow pacing
>boring and unlikable characters
>inferior to Cowboy Bebop in every way
>a universe that is not fleshed out at all
Sounds like a pretty bad anime to me
There was supposed to be a continuation planned but it got scrapped. Dunno if that was a good thing or a bad thing based on what they revealed.
I need more pictures for my Outlaw Star folder.
Nothing, OS is still great after all those years.
When the shota killed the loli.
This is immediately obvious unless it's one of your first 50 anime or something. The nostalgia goggles sure are thick.
This. The show hasn't aged well
Fred didn't fuck the amazon when they were hospitalized.
It was good when I watched it as a kid. And I think the animation still holds up at points. But after rewatching it a few times my biggest problem with it was the convoluted ending.
>What went wrong?
You posted a thumbnail.
Jim didn't fuck Aisha either.
I still love this show, but I can't look at the fucking grappler ships and say in all good conscious that it's acceptable.
No second season.
They forgot they were supposed to do something until the last episode.
...
Nothing. Fuck you.
Loved this show as a kid...
Then they replaced its slot with Big-O and I fucking hated the shit out of it.
Nothing hits the nostalgia more than this
The song is only part of it, the pictures did most of the heavy lifting for the ED.
>slow pacing
it drags out a bit with filler for a few eps but i thought it was fine
>boring unlikable characters
i disagree. i will say most of the cast needed more depth but how much can you do with 26 eps
>inferior to cowboy bebop
that's not really a criticism of the show
>a universe that is not fleshed out
what did you mean by this? cowboy bebop gives even less details about its universe but it doesn't detract from the anime
>but how much can you do with 26 eps
Seriously?
you're the guy complaining about "slow pacing" and you want more backstory for the side characters?
Still feel like shit about this episode.
I'm not him, but you don't think you can do much character work with 26 episodes?
i think you can, but they didn't in favor of the main plot
The OP is fucking R A D I C A L as well.
I was never one fore sitting through credits as a kid, but for Outlaw Star, I'd always sit through them. Usually I'd be off the high of the episode ending, but the ED would bring me right back to earth and almost comfort me. They were beautiful.
Fuck this brings back memories, I haven't heard this in about 15 years.
When the Tao loli died, I feel really mad.
She was my very first waifu.
I remember running like this in elementary school during recess for a while because of her.
My first sex dream.
average show
decent universe setting
the way they found out the galactic leyline coordinates was retarded and obviously rushed
comical filler episode ruins the show
also terrible 90s edge art style
>We need to get Gene some high-end caster shells
>TIME FOR AN ONSEN FANSERVICE EPISODE
Is Angel Links better or worse than this shit ?
I am very OK with this
Has anyone read the manga? Does it go farther than the TV series?
Aisha is straight up irresistible sex. Queued up alongside other 90's waifus.
>show contains a womenizer for a MC
>they made it 22 eps in before fanservice kicked in
>wont admit that was impressive because wants to be contrarian and edgy as fuck
Gene was awesome, show was awesome deal with it faggots.
I read the first one and owned the three available volumes.
It follows the show up until Hilda shows up. She befriends Gene. Then she tries to kill him all of a sudden, before they reach the Outlaw Star. But she dies instead. All I remember beyond that is there's a twist at the end of volume 1 about there being another Melfina, owned by some Mafia goons. I think in volume 2 they try to capture the real one by using her somehow. I don't remember anything about volume 3.
The mangas have cool fold-out posters on the inside too, but they're connected to the book. You can't tear them out.. First volume's fold-out is pure fan service of Melfina in her birthday suit.
Gene is a great protagonist because he actually changes over the course of the series. He has to get over his personal fears and trauma because it's the only way he's ever going to become the captain of a space vessel.

Everything is sound up until the latter half you described. Kinda wonder how that would've worked out in the end. So ultimately the show was a more complete experience? I always thought the manga went farther than the show ever did, just couldn't get the rest animated, oh well.
>The mangas have cool fold-out posters on the inside too, but they're connected to the book. You can't tear them out.. First volume's fold-out is pure fan service of Melfina in her birthday suit.
That is cool. I love it when they do these kind of things.
The dub censored the cat tats.
Didn't Toonami not even show this episode on its first airing?
Yep, skipped right over. Which was understandable considering it was a massive filler-filled fanservice episode. The only plot relevant thing that happens is Gene getting some magic space bullets for his magic space gun.
I mean, they were the most powerful shells ever made. They were kind of important for the finale episodes.
It's not a big deal that they just got them off screen since every other caster shell was.
But if children knew that women have nipples our entire society might collapse.
Just got done rewatching it. Still fantastic. Eat a bowl of dicks.
Too true.
They also EXPLAINED what the fuck the caster shells were and what the ones he just got did.
That's some pretty fucking heavy plot relevance wrapped in tits and baths.
The way it should be.
One day I hope to see space westerns make a return to popularity.
I want a Caster
We never got the sequel we were promised.
But a boy has the right to dream.
youtube.com
You were born.
The pictures used to freak me out when I was younger.
>brown
>muscle girl
>cat girl
>boobs
Aisha triggered all of my anime girl fetishes in one character
>720x540
We can do better than that.
Just realized only now, years late that she got turned inside out
>women have nipples
Is that Armageddon I hear?
Do not tempt fate, we must not let our children know this, especially the females.
It's only a matter of time.
Nothing, it was perfect.
Highly substanceless while trying to pretend it's not.
>Onesyota 3
Outlaw Star makes me wonder when exactly was the moment that having anime MC's having sex became a taboo, I mean, a MC getting laid in the first episode like Gene would never happen today.
When the Japs decided they'd rather not put MCs for the nerds to self-insert as who were better than them, but needed MCs who were even more pathetic than their viewers to not scared them away.
The japs must be the most insecure kind of people in the whole world, why can't they just appreciate a character for being badass instead of just liking chracters that looks exactly like them?
Could have used some more SS
im having trouble getting through it now. its just slow and not very interesting. especially the characters. it looks nice but its no where as good as the other shows that came out around the same time like bebop and trigun.
>tfw u will never squat with aisha
Japs betas have only gotten more beta and those betas go to work in anime and make anime MCs who are completely beta so they aren't threatening to the beta losers that buy their shit.
Rather than giving them something aspire to, they give them a version of themselves who just happens to stumble into mountains of pussy and adventure without ever having to be anything but a beta faggot who is still in high school.
I have a hard time reading this post because it's composed like fucking 8 year old wrote it.
Get the fuck out and don't come back until you've at least passed the third grade.
Because you're 14?
I'm still expecting to the day that Shinzo Abe will fix this fagottry
Grow the fuck up.
>they surely won't notice now that I used caps and write in a shorter sentence!
>expecting people to act and type maturely on the 18+ website is immature
Psh. Nothin' personnel... kid, but you can't hide your faggotry.
Your image resolution.
>thinking this is English class and not a anonymous imageboard where people fap to underage anime girls
the amount of asshurt over some user criticizing your shitty show is beyond humourous.
Which reminds me of those tumblr snowflakes that are always complaining about not having enough transgender characters in fiction in general for them to project into. Thinking this way, japs are even more pathetic than I thought.
It goes to shit after ep 4.
It had massive potential, but honestly it was rushed. Cool universe wasn't built up as much as it could have been. A couple of filler and quality episodes. If those were fixed and it was made to be like a 60-70 episode show with more lore, and better quality it could have been great for the built up.
2much episodes about them having to work to pay their debts
Soon.
The ending sucked, it's pretty obvious they had to rush it after finding out they weren't getting another season. Besides that, nothing, I watched it for the first time last year and I loved everything about it (except the ending). Also I never understood why people bitch about the amount of filler episodes, but then praise shows like Cowboy Bebop and Firefly for doing the exact same thing.
>>slow pacing
It's ok when Cowboy Bebop does it.
>>boring and unlikable characters
Says you. I thought Gene had much better development than Spike. And even Suzuka, who is by far my least favorite character of OS, wasn't anywhere near as boring or unlikable as Faye.
>>inferior to Cowboy Bebop in every way
Eh not every way.
>>a universe that is not fleshed out at all
Again, it's okay when CB does it.
Well I hate Firefly with a passion so I'll give you that one, but Cowboy Bebop had a style to it that made it far more compelling than Outlaw Star, not to mention the filler episodes in CB were used to explore the characters rather than just for comic relief and wacky space hijinx like in OS.
Those pictures are so perfect. That kind of generic pulp science-fiction style with eastern touches is so cool. I'm almost glad Outlaw Star was a one-shot thing just so that these fantastic pictures are left open-ended.
Why are you criticizing my opinion?
>rather than just for comic relief and wacky space hijinx like in OS.
Yeah nah, you need to watch it again but this time without nostalgia goggles.
>The ending sucked, it's pretty obvious they had to rush it after finding out they weren't getting another season.
No, it's obvious they had to rush it because the manga is literally only 21 fucking chapters. It had nothing to do with another season.
Sequel. Angel Links was meh.
... I'm not running.
Because you're bashing an anime for having flaws you're praising another anime for having.
I haven't read the manga but I assume that would be because it sold pathetically. Otherwise it would have been continued.
