Akira is my most favourite MANGA ever, but when I watched the Movie for the first time it kind of got me confused, it felt like something was missing.
Wyatt Jenkins
The highly dedicated "elitists" of Sup Forums have probably seen less than a quarter of these movies
Christian Rodriguez
also Tekkonkinkreet should be waaaaay up higher, Top 20 at least.
Brandon Nelson
they are both great but that`s bullshit
Jose Cooper
There's also a comment at the site for each entry.
I disagree with quite a few but at least they've seen more than the typical top 5 mainstream Ghibli movies.
Jace Carter
>5. Paprika (2006) パプリカ Director: Satoshi Kon Why is his worst movie his most famous?
Lucas Wood
Why is Short Peace on there? Hi no Youjin and the one with Ao-tan were good but the other two weren't; list should have the individual shorts
Nathan Cooper
>that mediocre piece of shit on #1 followed by another mediocre piece of shit >DYRL under all that garbage >Sayonara no Tsubasa not on the list
Jordan Torres
>vampire hunter d > bloodlust
this is not okay

Cause it looks nice. I don't get it either. I liked all his other stuff better.
Michael Nelson

Nicholas Murphy
>Princess Mononoke so high
Isaiah Campbell
God damn that's a fucking generic list, but I can at least appreciate the effort that went into writing all those little synopses.
Caleb King
>Princess Mononoke that low >Paprika in the top 5
normies not even once
Henry Adams
At least I found one movie I hadn't heard about yet.
Ian Brooks
What's wrong with Perfect Blue?
Zachary Diaz
EoE is overrated. It's looks great because it's only good for shitposting. Remember Mayoiga? Yeah, EoE is just like that. Pure gold shitposting material.
Alexander Torres
>F91 below CCA
Andrew Bennett
>What's the point, these lists are all made by huge retards.
Clicks now everyone wants to see more anime movies after your name hype.
Isaac Bailey
Akira is overrated due to its production value. Spirited Away is overrated because god knows why. The entire back third of the film is a lullaby.
Jose Gray
F91 is shit, CCA at least has a plot it's shit
William Ramirez
>EoE is overrated Explain more without memes and buzzowds. >Mayoiga the fuck?
Andrew Garcia
I find it hard to disagree with this list.
Carson Campbell
>it's shit I disagree.

Colton King
>at least they've seen more than the typical top 5 mainstream Ghibli movies. While true, they shouldn't have made a top 100 list in the first place. It's immediately clear that they were struggling to fill it with some of the rubbish they threw in.
Nathaniel Taylor
Belladonna of Sadness is dogshit. Fuck off right now.
Caleb Richardson
Yeah it's overrated and often found at the top spots, but come on, it deserves to be in the top 30
Nolan Price
Not a bad list but it definitely skews too hard towards modern anime. Also kinda nice to see Akira on top and Wind Rises so high. Fairly controversial decision, but one I agree with.
Hunter Young
>some of the rubbish Which ones?
Sebastian Bailey
Perfect blue is Kon best film if anything it deserves to be higher
Justin Barnes
>58. Whisper of the Heart (1995) 耳をすませば Director: Yoshifumi Kondo This is a god damn insult to anime.
Chase Gutierrez
>Explain more without memes and buzzowds. Sup Forums put this movies up on a pedestal.
Lucas Jones
>Not a bad list fuck off to reddit dipshit
Jack Gutierrez
Why do people continue to rate the Garden of Words? It's pretty but ultimately pointless. I feel like End of Evangelion should be higher. Paprika is nothing special. A DBZ movie? And it's the Broly one at that? Come on. Battle of Gods is way better, for example.
As for missing entries Anthem of the Heart, Inverted Patema, Expelled from Paradise, Tamako Love Story, Magical Sisters Yoyo & Nene, Kara no Kyoukai 5 or Mirai, Eve no Jikan, Nerawareta Gakuen deserve some consideration and could be squeezed in there somewhere. Personally I thought Eva 3.33 is the best out of the Rebuild movies too for bringing something new, taking us into Shinji's mind & this chaotic new world and challenging the established fandom consensus.
For the rest it looks like a solid opinionated list.
>would drink tea with/10
Wyatt Bennett
>mfw Sup Forums finds out EoE is an overrated piece of shit
Jayden Russell
>missing entries Anthem of the Heart, Inverted Patema, Expelled from Paradise, Tamako Love Story, Magical Sisters Yoyo & Nene, Kara no Kyoukai 5 or Mirai, Eve no Jikan, Nerawareta Gakuen ledditor detected
Adrian Moore
Keit-ai (Your Name) should unironically be #1.
Camden Harris
>Anthem of the Heart >Tamako Love Story
Dominic Watson
Princess Mononoke is worst and soulless big M movie. Rewatched 4 times in different time intervals jsut to be sure It's just Hollywood hot action with absolutely retarded dialogues, bad written characters and awful MC whose actions don't make any sense. Poor's man Nausicaa for western audience.
Daniel Williams
>Jin-Roh that low >shit like Gyo on the list at all And I like Redline, but it doesn't deserve to be in the top 20 of all fucking time. >muh 7 years

Honneamise fucking sucks dude
William Scott
Gyo OVA is pretty good, better than the manga.
Ian Cruz
If Redline is actually Yellowline, It should be on top 5 for sure.
Aaron Perez
Explain more without memes and buzzwords. Form your opinion. I don't cares about your subculture war and hivemind opinion of underage newfags without anime minimum.
Nathaniel Gomez
Wind Rises is the best Miyazaki film but I wouldn't be surprised ledditors prefer hollywood action flicks like Mononoke and Nausicaa
Gavin Mitchell
At least Honneamise is actually a film. The vast majority of the list aren't.
Also I enjoy the ever classic 'stupid fucking westerner projects so hard he doesn't understand grave of the fireflies' cliche. Utterly moronic.
Landon Smith
>normalfag list >anno Given that the gap between eoe and 1.0 is so close in the list, i'd say this is pretty close to the western normalfag view of his work.
Joshua King
>it definitely skews too hard towards modern anime Majority of the list is before 2005 though.
Thomas Foster
it's decent if you disregard the order in which they're listed
Wyatt Flores
Endless Waltz, DBZ, Eva 1.0, and FMA don't belong on this list. I'd also argue Char's Counterattack and EoE don't belong on the list because they don't stand on their own. Otherwise, it's a solid normie friendly list.
Josiah Garcia
HAHAHAHAHHA HOHOHOHOHO EHEHHEHEE
Jaxson Bailey
>Explain more without memes and buzzwords. Form your opinion. I don't cares about your subculture war and hivemind opinion of underage newfags without anime minimum. やれやれ・・・

Robert Hughes
how the fuck is cat soup higher than EoE, patlabor, the animatrix, angel's egg, bebop, summer wars LMAO
and how the fuck did hosoda's furry fetish anime get into the list in the first place s.m.h.
Hudson Garcia
>all these normalfag movies
Ryan Adams
Honneamise is a fucking masterpiece. It takes full advantage of the medium of animation to tell a story that pefectly ties together the struggle of man, the struggle of mankind, and the human condition. Well paced and written, great characters, and with beautiful visuals, animation, music to boot.
Sebastian Baker
I expected pasta from you. 1/10
Angel Butler
Did these two niggers actually watch a hundred anime movies?
I refuse to believe this.
Jace Bennett
And here we go, the "symbolism in eva" meme has been summoned. Being an elementary school dropout must be tough.
Samuel Foster
>Akira HAHAHAHA
Alexander Thompson
Damn. Did I just get "rekt"? Nice arguments.
All I said was they deserve some consideration and I get this kneejerk reaction for daring to mention something that has been released in the past 5 years. Nope, gotta go so obscure so no one knows what it is and can't call out its flaws.
Jordan Wood
>Bakemono No Ko barely at 100 I think it deserved to be at least in the top 50 but hey, it made it on the list so I guess it's alright.
As for the nerds stroking their dick about how Akira and GitS are shit, just give me a fucking break.
Yeah, that's the first time I've seen someone preferring the original over Bloodlust.
Chase Perry
>Akira >Good
>westernized-anime on first 5 places >Patlabor 2 higher than 1st >MSG F91 without mentioning 08th MS team or 0080 >Redline - 19th >GITS 2 : Oshii's vomit
worst list than MAL
>anime list without anime
Leo Bailey
I have never seen Akira
Juan Wood
>Being an elementary school dropout must be tough. Ironically because shitposters call EOE pretentious and pseudo-intellectual too.
James Hill
Pom Poko is one of the most aggressively bad movies I've ever seen in my life, regardless of origin. Anyone liking it is quite literally beyond my ability to abstract. Can't even fathom how you arrive there. Whatever the specific combination of bad taste, weeabooism, and mental illness is I can't even picture.
Logan Wood
If you can't differentiate symbolism and imagery then you probably didn't pass middle school.
Eli Anderson
No need to get so defensive. Most of the movies listed there are just hot garbage. You can't seriously make the argument that Expelled from Paradise or Anthem of the Heart deserve to be recommended?
Adam Clark
I mean like, late 70s and onward as modern
Tyler Robinson
No it doesn't
Jose Davis
You are literally retarded if you think any of those movies deserve to be on the list.
Jaxon Sullivan
Entry level, but acceptable.
Aiden Reyes
Someone make an Sup Forums list so we can compare them and admit that this one is 50 times better.
I'm already sure EoE will be #1 so it's gonna be some good shitposting material for you weebs.
James Bailey
which anime movies would consider not entry level?
Ryan Scott
What do you expect? There have been a lot more movies produced since then and more of them have been brought to attention to international audiences.
Joshua Phillips
why would thet put OVAs if its a movie list?
Ryan Nelson
The fuck does westernized anime even mean?
Connor Miller
Any aggregate community list will be completely terrible. Good lists come from selected elite. This list isn't particularly great, but no shit an Sup Forums list would be bad.
Cooper Powell
Dude, OP is obviously the guy who wrote the article.
> Toussaint Egan is a culturally omnivorous writer who has written for several publications such as Kill Screen, Playboy, Mental Floss, and Paste. Give him a shout on Twitter.
That means that he's a 'freelance writer' who wrote this post. Jason DeMarco is just some random gaijin related to anime destribution in the States that they brought in to add some extra flavour. It's really obvious that OP is the Toussaint.
