How much value do you put into visual direction?

How much value do you put into visual direction?

A lot, which is why I prefer the aestetics of cel animation.

None, I'm gay.

This show is beautiful

Is this a 70's shojo thing or a Dezaki thing?

STOP MAKING THIS THREAD

FIRST IT WAS EVERY DAY AND NOW IT FEELS LIKE EVERY 12 HOURS YOU MAKE ONE

Depends completely on the work, all have their place and are valuable

Yeah, I can't really disagree with that.

Also I forgot sound direction and probably loads of other stuff that goes into it.

Nuruturd trash.

It's a long shot but does anyone know who directed episode 22 of Urusei Yatsura?

I assume it was the first episode of the second season, because it came right after a big special.

The show has been great so far, but this episode was something else visually.

A shit ton. It's part of what makes Phantom World worth watching despite pretty weak characterization.

>complaining about the same shit being repeated without end on Sup Forums
what are you even expecting?

A hell of a lot.

Without it, the entire monogatari series would be just another generic harem with less than half the fan base it has now.

Both of them have shitty meaningless direction.

is this anime?

if it would be, I wouldn't watch it

those character designs are hideous!

True enough in that Phantom World's visuals don't "mean" anything and Mai's fights are well animated but poorly contextualized. There's still a lot to love about Phantom World's visuals. The water animation was gorgeous.

Nothing was better than Aku no Hana that year. Reminder Uchouten and Kyousougiga had mediocre direction

>Reminder Uchouten and Kyousougiga had mediocre direction
Reminder that this is just your opinion no matter how many threads you post it in.

Don't know about Kyousougiga, but you're right about Uchouten. The animation isn't anything to write home about either, but it's one of those rare animu that gets by with a strong sauce alone.

AI City

The rebuilds are so fucking ugly

at least more than you

how do they do it

I love KyoAni but visual direction can't save phantom sales from its garbage script

Why not?

Anime is a visual medium.

Script doesn't really matter when you have amazing visuals.

>plot
>anything but last

this

plotfags need to get out

visuals are the only thing that matter

This is why 3.33 > 2.22

>Script doesn't really matter when you have amazing visuals.
No. Script always matters.

but dude anime is a VISUAL MEDIUM therefore visuals matter the most who cares if the story is "bad"

"Visual Medium" just means that it conveys a story through visuals
The story still >

Ishihara is a really bad director.

Bad visuals can ruin an anime.
Good visuals cannot make an anime.

Characters > Visual Direction > Animation quality > plot

Flip Flappers is good not because of its visual direction but because the visual direction builds the characters.

>the visual direction builds the characters.

None, I'm a shaftfag.

try looking at the end credits

"It's a visual medium" is something you say to streamfags to point out that the way they're watching it is wrong.
You use your eyes, obviously. But your brain also wants to think so writing is extremely important.

desu I think the term visual medium is misleading.

When I started reading manga I found the absence of music and voices far more jarring than looking at still images.

He really isn't. He might be the most otaku-like minded (maybe after Takemoto) of KyoAni's directors but he's still great at making touching scenes and making a series memorable. Also he can make completely fucking awesome chuuni scenes. Every chuuni scene in Chuunibyou and Phantom World was very cool.

but that scene was ishidate

Ishidate was the episode director but that doesn't mean Ishihara had nothing to do with it. Shows have a director as a whole for a reason. Every summoning scene in Phantom World was amazing, especially the Cthulu ones.

You watched it wrong

He's bad and has shit taste in picking material to adapt.

>how much value do you put into visual direction
>in a visual medium

REMINDER that the cancer Sup Forums crossboarder posting dumb cinegrids is Mexican

it fits

Why are you this obsessed with Brazil?

why are you so obsessed with a shitty melodramatic anime about a bunch of awful people in a music club

You know, I save those grids and images in general with their original titles. I've posted a few that I didn't make myself.

yeah sorry that might be enough to fool the retards down in your little run down adobe owned by the cartel but it won't work here

Please answer the question, I'm just curious

Were you raped?

How many mexicans raped you?

never been raped since i don't live in some lawless 3rd world shithole like mexico where, if any civilized person were unfortunate enough to visit, they might wonder how the hell they managed to go back in time 200 years because the "law enforcement" is in bed with the same druglords that are kidnapping and scalping the local populace

You seem to have a ship on your shoulder. I think you'd fit very well in here

Show me on the doll where the Mexican hurt you

If the mom plot didn't go to shit in the last episode, Phantom World would have ended up being one of my recent favorites by Kyoani.

Not him, but you ESLfags kill me. It's "chip on your shoulder", not ship.

Phantom World had the most clumsy family themes I've ever seen, truly a special kind of shit that anime was.

You telling me Disappearance had bad direction?

lel

>avoiding to answer the question again about why he is so obsessed with a single poster
This autist is way too bipolar. Not that I expected too much from a entry level shitposter though.

>Kyoanifag

A subset of good writing can't be more important than good writing in general.

Don't even waste your time. That guy is is way too brain damaged by now. He is just a brainless carcass by now.

His mommy got murdered and raped by brazilians, please understand.

Wow, this show just keeps getting better

Well that makes sense because it is a hell of cross boarding obsession.

I hate blind forgiveness shit. His mom was absolute trash and the ending really soured the series.

Also that's not even close to the worst. Go watch Symphogear GX then get back to me.

At the same level with animation.
One going higher than the other leads to shit taste.

I only gave the mom 50% the blame

A story can be told through animation. An animation can't be told through story.
Fuck you retard

man it's really saying something when you make one of these and it looks bad

Oh Haruhiko is certainly the idiot for forgiving her.
