The main point is that saying Khat is a meme shouldnt be put aside, because that's LITERALLY the representation of why they fight and rape Saudis. Khat makes you hyperactive, alert, psychotic, concentrated, confident, and basically giving you the sixth fucking sense.
Just as they don't care about the side-effects, Houthis don't care about being faced an enemy with insurmountable odds or facing disease and starvation because they're poor and have no future. It's why they lob missiles at Saudi/Emirate boats and infrastructure, it's why they're somehow still surviving with Iranian equipment (that heavily fluctuates in demand due to the blockade), it's why even when their own god damn partner is defecting to the enemy, they can still kick ass.
Khat is the epitome of Houthi mentality.

Houthis have experience of fighting Saleh for decades. They're certainly much more competent than SAA and have mad RPG skills.

If houthis play it well and with some luck, they could actually turn this entire thing into a gain.
Think about the situation Islah is in - they have about 105 reasons to hate Saudi Arabia about now, and hilariously enough both KSA and UAE actually consider them a terrorist group. The US lists several prominent Islah members as "Specially Designated Global Terrorists" btw. If I were them, I'd be looking for a way out about now, and this whole reconciliation with Saleh just might be the final blow for them.
The whole anti-Saleh revolution of 2011 was largely led by Islah, and what now - the Saudis are prepared to put Saleh back in power in some fashion? I mean they are assisting his forces with air strikes in the capital itself - thus must mean that North Yemen under Saleh's control is now considered in line with Saudi interests, it's one step away from formal alliance. If Islah members are smart they should run from that alliance, it's clearly taken a turn against them, they have no future with the KSA and UAE.
Does Houthi and Islah alliance sound unlikely? Is it really any more unlikely than that of Houthi and Saleh? We have a precedent for this sort of thing too: Houthis and Islah are like Hamas and Hezbollah.
I think it could happen guys, let's hope for the best.
