That's pretty much it. I'd say I like the above two better than Berserk, but I'm just a sucker for grizzled protagonists with an iron will.

Considering how subjective art is, i never like to hold something as the singular pinncle of a medium/genre. For example, something comparable for me personally would be JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (seriously, and i'm not a JoJo memer).

I love Berserk, but it's no Black Jack.
It's definitely one of my favorite fantasy epics though.

Berserk honestly isn't all that amazing.

It's babbies first "adult" manga.

It has very simple themes, decent and detailed artwork and a straighforward and uncomplicated story.

Araki still can't get perceptive right half the time. His work, like Miura's, is detailed but not very technically impressive.

Aside from the shaky start, BoTI is pretty well written. I'd say top 25%.

It's not insanely well written, but it handles and coveys its themes well, has characters with actual depth and the dialogue is alright for manga standards.

I don't really think about it while reading because i'm not autistic. Besides, as long as it expedites the process and still looks really good. He illustrates a ton of new and great stuff constantly, Miura is the last artist i'd ever call lazy. Imagine having to draw the same characters like 10,000 times each over 20+years

One-Punch has some of the most overrated art in manga. Murata musters up the effort for eye-catching detail maybe 10% of the time if you're lucky, has nothing except that detail going for him, and when he's not doing that you get whole chapters that look average or even mediocre.

Its actually a.very unique and above the competition. You CAN'T mention more than 3 at his level.

I don't care about how technically impressive it is to draw, OPM's average page just isn't that enjoyable to look at. Look at pic related, the most recent translated page. It's unappealing as fuck, looks like it belongs in some no-name weekly battle shounen that will get canceled within two months.

Alot of professional hard work was put into it for over 300 chapters, so I'm not going to take it for granted. Better to enjoy Berserk than to not have it at all.

The most technically skilled illustrators are generally unimaginative autists. Look at literally any of the greatest artists of all time and they don't just look like photos. Things like flow and direction, visual drama are key when illustration is tied with a narrative and Araki is a master of engaging the reader visually, although there are plenty of people who are better at flow than him, like prime DBZ era Toriyama.

I know that, i said he's a master of engaging you visually, but there are scads of people better than him at flow. Sometimes i'll have to look at a page a couple times or re-read a few pages to get a clear image of the action in my head. It's not his strongsuit. He has immense strengths to compensate though

I never said it was perfect either but like I said those mix of elements really put it above anything else for me. To each their own I guess. What would you say is best? OP, I love Berserk as much as the next guy and I'm such a faggot I actually bought all the volumes released so far, but it's hardly the best manga ever. It's well drawn and it has its moments, but it's painfully obvious how Miura changed his perspective on things halfway through the manga and it all suffered from it. I liked the part about Griffith wrecking shit left and right but to be honest I found the whole ship trip to be atrocious and fuck me sideways am I tired of the RPG party. To be quite honest, I like what he did with Guts' character, I just don't like the way he did it. Unless the party is going to painfully die because of the bejelit (I will suck miura's dick if that happens) I don't see any remedy to that.

It didn't help that for a very long time chapters were coming out months if not years apart, I'm sure that someone who read it all in one go has a different view on things.

Every manga has strengths and weaknesses. Vagabond has pacing issues, Blade of the Immortal is drawn in scribbles, Kokou no Hito has filler, Real can be overwritten, Monster loses steam in the middle.

Nothing is perfect.

That's why I shit on people that say Berserk is the best. Because it betrays an inherent lack of knowledge about the medium in general, and also indicates they have limited experience with it.
