Logically, people who would support an openly socialist candidate would also be less intelligent on average. This has yet to be tested among Americans though because we haven't had any serious openly socialist candidates (think Soviet Union, not European-esque social democrats like Sanders)

Alabama has one of the highest black populations in the US. The reason why Alabama and Mississippi have IQ's similar to California is because they are the most diverse states. What that map shows is that states regardless of Conservative or Liberal whites have similar IQ and regardless of Liberal or Conservative states that have high amount of blacks have low IQ. Its almost as the more African genetics a state has the lower the IQ is.
