Is Anime/Manga the deeper than Film and TV?

Anime/Manga databese feature "psychological" as a tag or category. Movie and TV databases don't.

Why is that?

Anine/manga databases are stupid

so you imdb

Because they borrow heavily from Freudian Psychology, or the math of the brain: something that is in most cases scientifically unprovable.

To answer your question, there isn't any reason beyond those movie and T.V. databases simply missing it.

I'll give you 3 psychological movies right now
- Nightcrawler
- American Psycho
- Enemy

And there are many more, too. Overall, there isn't much of a difference between societies except certain sources they borrow from. Classic Japanese themes are Nietzsche and Freud.

lol

the question wasn't if it exists, it's why it's not tagged.

What is the Memento of anime.

but it is
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_thriller#Film

Psychothriller, yeah

But what about the Psychodrama?

I guess that would be social drama...? But that is often soap opera tier.

Why is Slice of Life even a Anime/Manga genre, but not a movie/TV one?

All this shit was invented in Western Film

Anime has to do something differently to make people go tag slice of life/psycho as tags.

Psychothriller, Dramedys etc. all film genres imply that the characters are proactive.

There can never be show or film like Mushishi, Haibane Remnei or Kino's Journey

A lot of anime is very rich in meaning and encoded information. Evangelion was Lost before Lost even existed. And remember that Ghost In The Shell was one of the primary inspirations for The Matrix. I don't think many of us would be here if not for that richness that's so hard to find in Western media.

Also, nice dubs, Cirno.

>Anime has to do something differently to make people go tag slice of life/psycho as tags
Not really
You're putting too much value in tags don't you think

Mushishi is slice of life which is like your typical american sitcom except it's about some faggot doing some weird Japanese mystic shit every episode and it feels like the same thing every time

Shows like Mushishi would flop in the west because they're about as fun as dry paint

Wasn't StarGate the first western sci-fi TV in the mid 90's, while Japan had them since the 70's?

Soon, American will make Live-Action Harem/Moe/Kawaii shows aimed at guys.

>Ghost In The Shell
It's a Blade Runner ripoff(which is a ripoff of some 70s French Comics)

God I hate you dumb weebs

It's not about being "deep". It's about entertainment. Many people enjoy anime that go into "deep" subjects or themes but alot of people enjoy idol/comedy/harem/isekai and more. I'd say anime has a wonderful many genres that many kind of different people can enjoy. Who cares about comparing to movies and tv shows? If you enjoy something, you enjoy it.

>Mushishi is slice of life which is like your typical american sitcom

>You are now imagining Mushishi with a laugh track

>Wasn't StarGate the first western sci-fi TV in the mid 90's, while Japan had them since the 70's?
You have got to be joking

watch Brazil you weeb

>- Enemy
People know about that movie outside of the meme ending?

Japs love their pseudo intelligent mumbo jumbo that a 14 year old could come up with.
It's not deep, it pretends to have some deep philosopical meaning even if there isn't.

Who is Star Wars?

Not even close.
Hang yourself.

I know there was in the 50's, that inspred George Lucas

The laugh track/audience laughter is descended from stage plays

There's american sitcoms without them(like Malcolm in the Middle for example)

Live-action things inherenty don't place as much emphasis on the 'quality' of objects and surfaces.

shit, I got no resume...

>What is Star Trek?
>What is the book "1984" by George Orwell

>Wasn't StarGate the first western sci-fi TV in the mid 90's, while Japan had them since the 70's?
Please tell me you're trying to make a point by omitting Star Trek and Dr. Who, and not that you just have literally no idea those series existed.

Name better anime than Sopranos
I will wait

>Dr. Who

I ment space opera

There really was no space opera TV show until Stargate.

lolwut

Boku no Pico.

OP blatantly baiting Sup Forums. I like your style.

Battlestar Galactica and Flash Gordon 50s series says hi

But why can't he do that on Sup Forums though instead of here?

I enjoy the Yakuza videogames more. And Fukomoto manga.

I don't what it is, but I tend to connect better with Japan's storytelling.

Cirno is the true form of cancer

>Battlestar Galactica

That's still four years after Space Battleship Yamato.
Japan was faster.

>Completely ignoring Flash Gordon 50s series
Nigger stop

That was black and white. It doesn't count. Also it was shit.

>databese
>I got no resume

what did he mean by this?

>It doesn't count because I say so
Yeah no fuck off retard

>frogposting
You have to go back.

>Flash Gordon

Does that even count as serious sci-fi space opera? I remember it being more comical in it's appearence.

If Star Wars counts so does Flash Gordon

Also Space Opera's existed in literature form before that

Star Wars wasn't made into a TV show

This argument is for TV shows only

>non-anime SoL shows
Just about every live-action show that Disney Channel spits out.

>non-anime Psychological Dramas
Triangle
Killing Room
Circle
Primer
Cube

>Space opera
Andromeda
Firefly
Farscape

>Adult magical drama
Buffy
Angel
Charmed
Teen Wolf
Once upon a time

>SoL Haremshit
Every dating reality show
Literal soap operas

>Star Wars wasn't made into a TV show
>What is Clone Wars?

Either way the same goes for both TV and Film
Space Opera is literally just a Soap Opera in Space...it doesn't matter if there's something comical in it(like Chewbacca in Star Wars for example)

SoL and Harem in live action usually are masked behind some comedy.

Alot of anime are just slice of life without any comedy element.

Anime and manga are sometimes less regulated than American shows and movies, stuff like the girl fusing with the dog and dying in FMA could never be seen in an American production. The fact that it's all drawn also removes limits that acted shows have, in fact it's a waste for an anime to be fixated on realism. I think film and tv are more deep in general though.

>Just about every american sitcom
ftfy

>>What is Clone Wars?
In the 2000's

>SoL and Harem in live action usually are masked behind some comedy.
That goes for manga/anime too

Boku Dake ga Inai Machi

Yeah I guess.

But what makes people describe Anime/Manga with things like Slice of Life etc. instead of just calling it a comedy?

Does it mean that anime is more capable of capturing the mundane in life.

>stuff like the girl fusing with the dog and dying in FMA could never be seen in an American production
There's probably some shit out there that does something similar
Either way the concept is cartoony so it doesn't really work well in Live Action

You just said that Star Wars wasn't made into a TV series you never specified anything else

Either way like I said...it applies to both TV and Film
If Star Wars is a Space Opera so if Flash Gordon(both the Films and the various TV shows)

You're putting too much thought into this
From what I've noticed people here use "slice of life" to describe people that are more "comfy" or more "low-energy"

NON NON BIYORI IS MY FAVOURITE COMEDY OF ALL TIME

*to describe shows

>non-anime SOL
>fucking Disney Channel
I hate you for this.

>fusing a little girl with a dog
Try an arc where men are being raped by a masked person, including one of the stars of the shows getting raped, the accused turns out he has to dock at all, and the one doing the act was a woman.

Niptuck was a fucking weird show.

But in western dramas like CSI, medical and Court shows, that's where all the fucked up shit is.
>a man fucking several mentally handicapped women, getting them pregnant, but just telling them it's just "excircise" since they don't know what sex is.

You know damn well you can take just about any of their shows or movies, flip it into an anime and it'd work.

"Psychological" is a bullshit tag applied to anime by its embarrassed fans. It's pseudo-intellectual ethos, a way of justifying anime as something more than it is.

Besides that, anime does occasionally feature some inward tendencies which is a product of Japan's cultural fascination with the concept of the "self" once the influence of western culture spread.
